Klaroline fanfic update: Perhaps One Day
Tumblr media
Working on a new one-shot in my Klaroline series, Perhaps One Day. Here's a quick peek:
Chapter 25: Royal Treatment
Klaus was giving considerable thought to forcing the trumpet down the court musician’s gullet if he blasted it once more near his ear. He lazily glanced around the ostentatious Augustine court, noting with distaste a group of drunken courtiers spilled goblets of wine on what were once exquisite tapestries of lavish silks and gold thread. Thus far, the Italian court was just as obscene and filled with unabashed puffery as he’d assumed.
“’Tis a fine banquet to boast the fruits of my kingdom, don’t you agree, your Majesty,” King Lorenzo crowed, briefly nodding in deference to Klaus before openly leering at a comely courtier across the great hall, whose corseted bosom barely remained within the bounds of propriety.
Klaus favored the dimwitted king with a tight smile, reminding himself that it wouldn’t do to lance this hopeless dullard with his rapier wit right after their countries forged such prosperous new trade negotiations. The Danish king toasted his wine-sodden host with a raised goblet, eyeing the lovely courtier with a knowing smile as he remarked, “Ah yes, your kingdom’s bounty is surely a credit to your Majesty.”

Avoiding my WIPs; writing experiment #1: Ghost Ship fusion with Klaroline
They never should’ve kept the gold. Caroline had felt uneasy about it ever since she and Klaus had found it in the abandoned ship’s cargo hold. It had made no sense that it was sitting there in the weathered crate, the lid pried open but the gold untouched. How could that be — especially when the abandoned cruise ship clearly had been ransacked for decades by marauding treasure hunters and pirates?
Klaus picked up a dusty bar, studying it closely, his voice careful, but tinged with suspicion as he remarked, “Looks like the serial numbers were filed off. Considering we’ve found these floating in international waters, it seems to be ours for the taking.”
Rather than send her into daydreams of a carefree, frivolous lifestyle in which she’d never have to worry about paying bills on a meager salvager’s salary again, an icy sliver of fear gripped her instead. She couldn’t stop thinking about Klaus’ offhanded comment about the decades-old rust streaks they encountered earlier that he said looked more like bloodstains.

Avoiding my WIPs; writing experiment #2: Klaroline AU human
Caroline should’ve known. In a small town, there’s only so many local “celebrities” that could be tapped to be in the charity bachelor auction. Of course they’d bring in the famous pitcher for the Wolves, a two-time MVP who recently led his team to a World Series win. Klaus Mikaelson. Sports legend. Home-town hero. And the worst breakup Caroline had experienced.
She managed to slip into the shadows of Mystic Grill, ducking slightly behind the tacky, heart-shaped signs the planning committee had placed throughout the banquet room. Matt immediately was at her side, handing over a fresh screwdriver with a sympathetic smile. “I’m sorry. Had I known he’d be here, I would’ve warned you,” he quietly murmured.
“It wouldn’t have mattered. As deputy mayor, I’d still be expected to make an appearance.” She barely resisted the urge to down her cocktail, knowing there were judgy eyes watching closely for any sign of weakness. Fucking small towns.
Klaus smiled with a casual confidence as he glad-handed around the room. He could still wear the hell out of a tux. Bastard. Caroline steeled herself for the moment when he noticed her and no matter how many times she’d prepared herself for this moment that she’d assumed would never come, it still felt like taking a bullet. Those gray eyes were much colder than she’d imagined. He held her gaze for the briefest of seconds and then looked right through her.

Klaroline fanfic update: An Offer He Can't Refuse
Tumblr media
Working on the next chapter of my Klaroline story, An Offer He Can't Refuse. Here's a quick peek:
Klaus noted the stiffness of Caroline's tone and he returned to studying the exam table with unnecessary intensity. While they’d settled into a routine fairly quickly these past few weeks, there was still an awkwardness between them. Klaus’ obvious discomfort was still present, of course, but Caroline was a confounding mix of warm, sunshine smiles and cold, hard stares. Both contributed to their fumbling, often uncomfortable encounters.
People were brought to him to fix and he’d pointedly refrain from asking too many questions. He was starting to learn the names of some of the other terrifying women that seemed to be under Caroline’s command. There was Liv who was heavy handed with both eyeliner and dark humor, and flirty Bree who miraculously taught Kol a series of cocktails that he somehow never heard of, and Jules who likes her steaks extra bloody and was something called a “live acquisitions expert”, which he chose not to think about too closely. The rest lurked more in the shadows, still nameless and even more foreboding than the others.
Sometimes Caroline would stop by and they’d have these odd...moments in which it felt like they were on the cusp of...something. But that peculiar energy was fleeting and both hastily remembered their places and returned to light banter wrapped in bland professionalism.
His brother seemed to have reached an uneasy truce with Caroline and her girls. Kol's boyish charm was back on display most of the time. Although there were times he still eyed the women suspiciously as though they’d lunge at him with guns or knives at any moment — which, was not an unreasonable assumption, come to think of it.

This is great.
WIP Wednesday
Sneak peek from the upcoming chapter in my Klaroline WIP Romancing the Brimstone:
Gaarghishzlargurg, The Ripper of Souls was most displeased. At least, that was the impression Klaus received as he listened to Elijah drone on as he read the complaint filed by the irritating demon of the Fifth Order of Skull Crushers. “This odious demon goes on to accuse Caroline of performing foul, unspeakable rituals sacred to her people — something called streamlining methods, automating processes, and efficiency checklists.”
Klaus let out a bark of laughter, shaking his curly head in amusement at his queen’s latest antics. “Ever since she reorganized the orifice snake pits to gradually increase from foreplay to orgasms, it’s become so popular that fights are breaking out regarding the waiting list to have her organize hell creatures’ personal torture devices in similar fashion.”
Shifting uncomfortably, his brother replied, “Yes, well, Caroline’s inventiveness has caused a certain amount of discord.”
“Discord? In hell? Perish the thought, brother,” Klaus teased, recalling that when a demon recently spoke out against Caroline’s dimensional portal color-coding, Kol removed his scales with a chisel and then rolled him in sea salt. And then Rebekah read Elijah’s tedious journaling attempts aloud to the traumatized demon. The family that tortured together, he mused with a pleased grin.

Klaroline fanfic update: Romancing the Brimstone
Tumblr media
Working on the next chapter of my Klaroline story, Romancing the Brimstone. Here's a quick peek:
Chapter 17: Seventeenth Circle
It turned out that telling a human woman to calm down will not achieve the desired result. In fact, based on Caroline’s current profanity-laced screeches, it seemed to have the opposite effect. “Seriously?! I know you did NOT just tell me to calm down when I have fire coming out of my hands like I’m a fucking mutant!”
Klaus winced when a fireball flew uncomfortably close to his nethers. “Careful, love.”
“Like it won’t grow back eventually,” she said dismissively, shaking out her palms until the flames finally dissipated in a lingering ribbon of black smoke and sulfur.
With a small smirk, he replied, “Yes, but we both seem to enjoy it now.”
With a murderous glare, she stomped over to the shredded remains of her blue shift, tying crooked knots until she appeared to be wearing a lumpy corset. “Will you take this seriously?! I basically came back from the dead and now I have freaky hell powers!” Her blue eyes went comically wide as she gasped, pointing an accusing finger at him. “Oh my god! You gave me a hell STD!”
“Actually, love, I suspect that when Mikael cursed his fangs, he inadvertently passed on some of his powers to you.”
Letting out a disturbing noise reminiscent of when the harpies shove war criminals through the eyebrow peeler, she bellowed, “My boyfriend’s dad gave me a hell STD! That’s worse — you get that that’s WORSE, right?!”

Klaroline fanfic update: Found
Tumblr media
Working on the next chapter of my Klaroline story, Found. Here's a sneak peek:
Chapter 3
Klaus nodded, his expression thoughtful as he sat down on one of their newly created tree stumps. He opened and closed his fists, staring down at the flexing flesh as though searching for answers there. “I’d sensed my innate strength, and there’s a certain comfort knowing such power is at my disposal should the circumstances turn dire, but there’s so much that I...that I need to know about who I am — was.”
Caroline had to look away from his forlorn face before she did something crazy like hug the immortal serial killer. She began feeding dried leaves into the tiny creek beside them, the recent drought having slowed the cool waters to a thin stream. Keeping her voice light, she told him, “Well, you’re an artist.” At his murmur of interest, she added, “You told me that one of your landscapes is hanging in Hermitage.” She frowned, asking, “Wait — do you still know what that is? Oh my god! Do you even remember country names or what cheeseburgers are or...” she trailed off awkwardly at Klaus’ sudden laughter.
“Yes, I recall those things. I just cannot tell you specific moments in which I experienced them.”
With a small giggle, she replied, “Ok, good, because I had no idea how to explain the Kardashians or why Adam Sandler gets to keep making movies.”

Klaroline fanfic update: An Offer He Can't Refuse
Tumblr media
Just posted the next chapter in my Klaroline mafia story, An Offer He Can't Refuse.
Please read and review here.
Here's an excerpt:
Chapter 4: Consider It a Perk
It didn’t matter that he and his brother were prisoners of the mob. Or, that he performed surgery by (implied) gunpoint. Or, a myriad of other red flags that constantly triggered his fight or flight response. No, all that mattered in that moment was his patient foolishly up and about after enduring major trauma in less than sterile conditions. “What are you doing out of bed,” he growled at Caroline, forgetting the vivacious blonde was clearly some sort of mob boss. “You sustained a GSW to the abdomen and nearly bled out!”
“I know. I was there too,” Caroline wryly replied.

Klaroline fanfic update: Perhaps One Day
Tumblr media
Finally working on that Klaroline sequel that I get asked about sometimes [Chapter 166 (‘The Plus One’) in A Beautiful Symmetry]. Here's a quick peek:
Chapter 24: Part 2 – The Plus One
They uncovered the lie over many, many dragon fruit cocktails. The only rule Caroline and Katherine had from the moment they stepped off the plane had been to not talk about Klaus. Or Hayley. And certainly not the baby. But Caroline had never been able to turn off her brain — especially when she could feel something wasn’t right. As she stared at the turquoise lagoon, it inexplicably came to her. “White Oak Manor on July 8th,” she said haltingly, her tongue slowly chewing on the syllables as her brain went into overdrive.
Katherine opened one eye to wordlessly glare at her, instantly recognizing the date as one of the forbidden topics they’d agreed not to mention when they ran away to Palau, mostly because at 8,657 miles away, it was the furthest point from Virginia that the airline had available when they showed up three days ago.
Toying with the starfruit rosette garnish, Caroline explained, “When that tabloid did their exposé on Klaus and Hayley’s love child, they posted all those tasteless photos of Hayley leaving fancy suites at different high-end hotels and one of them was at the White Oak Manor on July 8th. But Klaus and I were at my dad’s old cabin that whole weekend.”
“So? Those asshole stalkerazzi must’ve gotten a date wrong.”
Caroline had known Katherine long enough to see past the cool confidence borne of the highest blue-blooded pedigree. There was uncertainty there. And something else. Something they both had missed.

WIP Wednesday
Here's a quick peek at my WIP Klaroline story, An Offer He Can't Refuse:
Caroline gestured toward the door, wincing slightly as she undoubtedly pulled on her stitches. She told Klaus, “Come on, let me show you to your new accommodations.”
His brother quickly shook his head, a frown forming on his boyish face as he argued, “Not bloody likely. Where my brother goes, I go.” Kol started to scramble to his feet, but a single raised eyebrow from Caroline halted his movements.
And Klaus DID NOT find Caroline’s subtle display of power alluring. He turned away, slightly adjusting things that had grown inconveniently tight. Bollocks.
Bonnie grinned at Kol, her words perhaps meant to be soothing, but instead came across as flat, matter-of-fact, and with that hint of danger that all of Caroline’s girls seemed to carry. “Your brother will be fine. The Boss won’t bite unless he begs for it.” With a careless wave, she commanded, “You will sit here with me and I’ll graciously ignore you staring at my tits while answering all of your tedious questions.”
Despite the uncertainty and fear that lingered in the air, Klaus inexplicably fought back a smile when he saw the moment Kol’s juvenile curiosity overpowered his concern. He never could turn down a pretty face.
