I propose dedicating the last week of each month to mutual aid. We can start with July 29th, since people have that date in mind already, but I think we should make it a regular thing.
No giving to tumblr since they're clearly ignoring what we want, just donating to someone who actually needs it.
Give to your mutuals who can't pay the bills, give to a small artist you love, give to the trans person who makes you laugh all the time but can't afford gender affirming care, give to the content creator who's been busting their ass to give "free" content to you for 3 years and who has had to remake their account 5 times.
Just 1-5 of whatever currency you use, or whatever you can spare. Maybe visit the shop of some of the creators on here so you're helping them and finally getting some little thing of theirs, even if it's just a sticker.
things get better slowly. you’ll wake up and you won’t feel an aching dread in your chest, but feel lighter. you’ll start to notice little things that make you smile: sunlight, soft pyjamas, hot tea, biting into fresh fruit. you’ll seek out these things, and your life will get warmer and fuller. day by day. you may still have days where you can’t get out of bed, but they’ll be fewer - small dark spots in a world of colour. if things aren’t too good yet, please remember that recovery is slow. show yourself some kindness. you deserve it.
Wow, gas is now as expensive as it was on 9/11/01 when all the oil companies panicked about the impending war in the middle east and tripled the price for a couple days, solidifying my perspective on how gas prices are set by the oil companies and not at all by the sitting president.
Yeah quiet quitting is great and all but have you tried chaotic working?
Like. I remember back in my grocery store cashier days I did so much crazy shit.
When WIC (Women, infants, and children voucher program to help low income mothers/families with children) people were in my line I would pretty much know who they were. Before the cards they had to tell us upfront they were WIC and show us their vouchers for what they were allowed to get (it was awful some times. Like. 2 gallons of milk. $4 worth of vegetables etc etc). They’d always have items hanging back, waiting to see what the total was and if they would have to take it off the belt.
I began to place the fruits/vegetables a certain way on the register scale so that like 1/2lbs of grapes read as like .28lbs or something. Then act shocked when I said that they still had X amount of lbs left. They got all their fruit and vegetables.
I think it started to kinda? Catch on to the women? Because I would have the same moms in my line month after month. And even after they switched to the cards (they worked like food stamp cards?) I’d still do the same thing. They were able to get more produce for whatever shitty max amount Indiana gave them.
~~~ As always, don’t replace medicine with plants! Information was gathered from multiple online sources like WebMD, Plentifulearth, and gardening sites~~~
Safety - Be cautious if taking diabetes medication. Can cause blood sugar to drop. Trouble with G6PD deficiency. Shouldn’t be eaten before or after surgery
Growth - Planted in spring or the late fall. Requires full sun not too close to any trees. Needs soil that can easily drain and are slightly acidic, avoid clay soils. Space blueberry bushes 4-5 ft apart.
Care - Surround the plant with mulch after planting to keep roots moist. Apply fertilizer 1 month after planting. Needs 1-2 inches of water per week. For the first year, don’t allow the plant to produce fruit. Pinch back sprouting blossoms. After 4 years, prune by cutting back any dead branches in the late winter
Harvest and Storage - Blueberry’s harvesting season is late June - August and harvesting is as simple as picking the blueberries off of the bush. Blueberries can be eaten fresh, frozen, or dehydrated for future eating.
Medicinal Use - Helps with reducing DNA damage, full of antioxidants (considered a super fruit,) protects cholesterol, lowers blood sugar, protects against heart disease, improves memory, high in vitamins C, A, and K, healthy bones
Magickal Use - Used in both physical and psychic protection magic, healing spells, beauty spells, used as an ingredient in glamours, memory charms, spells to promote peace and calm, spells to promote clear speech
Culinary/Household - Blueberries are used in many recipes from jams, muffins, pastries, sweets, dressings, bread, yogurts, or even paired with savory meats. There’s no limit
tomorrow’s gonna be just fine. that conflict you’re having with your friend will blow over. no one secretly hates you. the world is not out to get you. it’s ok to feel stressed out. it’s ok to crack under pressure sometimes. you are perfectly capable of enduring whatever life throws your way. everything will be alright. you’re gonna be ok.
btw… important PSA: cutting off the mold on the surface of food does nothing. you can only see the spores on the surface, but mold itself has spread and grown roots into the food. by the time you can actually *see* the spores, that piece of food is completely full of it. youre still eating mold.
many of which are poisonous and have been shown to cause cancer. youre not even supposed to sniff it, because that can get spores into your lungs. like if you look up the health and safety guidelines for mold they barely stop short of telling you to put on a hazmat suit.
like produce is okay as long as you cut around it at least an inch, but cooked foods? you gonna die. stop eating mold people
Small Witchy Challenges to Reconnect to Your Practice
Sometimes it can be hard to really feel connected to the actual magickal side of being a witch. Personally I’m involved with my deities or other spiritual/personal things 110% of the time but I don’t always feel connected to my actual witchcraft. So here are a few small magickal challenges I thought up to help anyone in a similar situation.
✨ – Set aside a time once a week to burn a candle. Make it a color that connects to whatever aspect of your life you would like insight or growth in and spend 10 minutes watching the flame and opening yourself to whatever it is you’re seeking.
✨ – If you have any books with pre written simple spells in them (most intro to witchcraft books have a section) flip through it and find a spell that calls to you and do it! As written, just to practice getting out of your head and going through the motions of spell work.
✨ – Send out blessings. To your crush. A new friend. Your best friend. Your mom. Whoever.
✨ – Call up your energy into your palms and then place them on your own heart to send yourself love and healing and to connect yourself to your energy.
✨ – Spend some time picturing the kind of witch you wish you were, your ideal witchsona if you will. Then tell yourself that’s exactly who you already are. Keep reminding yourself whenever you feel disconnected from your craft that you are already an unbelievable witch.
✨ – Go back through your old book of shadows/grimoire and reflect on what’s worked for you in the past.
✨ – Wake up and tell yourself first thing “I am a witch. I am magick. My life is full of magick. I see and feel all the magick around me. I am a witch.”
✨ – Pick out outfits or accessories that make you feel witchy. (Bonus points for intentionally planning a super witchy outfit on the full moon)
✨ – Do a spell for anything that’s coming up in your life that you want to work out a certain way, no matter how trivial it seems. Test this week? Do a spell. About to start a work out routine? Do a spell. First date? Spell. Gotta stay on budget grocery shopping? Spell. Your worth it, it’s good practice, and if it all ends up working even better!
✨ – Write down spell ideas as they come to you. Save them as notes in your phone and then come back and flesh them out in your BOS later.
✨ – Come up with your own challenges! If you’d like to share, tag me on your post or send them to me, I’d love to hear your ideas!
