Since then I’ve been reading the story behind this beautiful way of connecting with other women during this time with a message of empowerment. It both brings a call to action against violence towards women in Turkey and support for @aoc speaking up against the misogyny and abuse of power many women experience at work every day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve been following my instastory, you’ll know I was recently attacked online by someone calling me the b-word. It would have been easier to ignore them and block them. But silence does nothing, so I chose to stand up to them and speak out against their behaviour. Not only did I DM the person and tell them in no uncertain terms to never call me a b*^#$ again, but I also reiterated it in the comments, and DM’d all 7 people who liked his comment a screenshot of them liking him calling a women a b*^#$ and that enabling this behaviour is not acceptable. Bullying is an unfortunate common theme in many of our stories. I am grateful that I am a stronger person now, and these words don’t touch me, but strength calls for action not silence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Women in Turkey are protesting against the Turkish government threatening to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention designed to create a Europe free from violence against women. Physical violence towards women is increasing, especially during this pandemic, and the femicide and torture of women and the ensuing cover-ups in Turkey are horrific. The Instanbul Convention needs to be ratified not withdrawn. What can we do? ☀️ These are new times and sometimes it can feel overwhelming... usually I love multitasking, but right now I’m learning the joy of focusing on one thing at a time and knowing that the rest will still be there when I get to them in an hour or a few days... and sometimes it’s necessary to carefully put all the balls down and take some time for meditation and self care - this is definitely difficult for me... any tips? Caption Miss Sunshine as a Peep 🐥😂 ok... storytime... I have maybe pulled two all-nighters since graduating college 12 years ago... well my third one was Saturday. One reason I started my vlog series Sunshine Sundays on YouTube is because I love writing, filming, and editing, and I get to do all three for this! This was my first time using zoom recording, and although I tested it, I didn’t anticipate the lip sync to be soooo off by the end! I had to go through every clip and manually unlink the sound and move it... all this on an app on my iPhone (thank goodness for thumbs)! 🤪 I actually loved every second... it gave me life seeing it go from a concept, to two uncut recordings, to Episode 4 premiering on YouTube yesterday...
