Elliedina Day 5 and 6: Devotion and Faith

I know these were suppose to be for two different pieces but I was struggling to come up with two separate ideas because the two prompts felt very similar and intertwined to me. So I decided the knight and princess au was perfect for it. Ellie is devoted to Dina and Dina had faith in Ellie to protect her. Plus this gives me more time to get the last day’s drawing done in time!!

Dina invited me for tea today. We never did that. JJ and her talked about Talia and how Dina understands faith, JJ is so clever, he asked so many questions. 

I'm trying to read about it, I can't say I'll ever be convinced. I don't think there's something after this life or a bigger thing but I believe in Dina.

day 5: devotion

Dina allowed me to make a painting of her and JJ. It’s hard because JJ doesn’t really like to stay put but I will keep on trying until I get it right. It’s the least I can do for them. Damn, Dina is so beautiful and kind. I need to make justice to all that she is in this painting…

Ellie thinks of the many regrets she has, the years and time she lost with Joel, the years she spent allowing guilt and revenge to consume her, missing a year and a half of JJ's life, milestones she will never have memories of. She had allowed guilt and anger to consume her, allowed it to blind her to what mattered most in life, to the most important people in her life, and it had nearly cost her Dina and JJ.

Yeah she has a lot of regrets. A lot of time she wishes she could get back. A lot of choices she wishes she could change.

But right now she really wishes she had taken Maria up on those cooking lessons she had offered all those years ago.

Glaring at the half cooked pancake stuck to the ceiling, it remains glued there as if to mock her.

"I told you this was a bad idea" JJ whispers, his giggles poorly muffled.

Ellie sighs up at the pancake on the ceiling, the batter on the wall, and the general chaos the kitchen has become.

"Yeah I think you're right, Potato. I just wanted to do something nice for Mom. I know it's hard for her and you when I do my long patrols."

"Mom definitely misses you" JJ comments, eyes averted unwilling to admit to missing her too.

"You didn't miss me though" Ellie teases, reaching out and ruffling his hair.

"No! Its way less messy and stinky when you're gone!"

"I have to agree with JJ, it's definitely been less messy" Dina laughs walking into the kitchen.

Ellie turns her head and presses a kiss to Dina's cheek. Dina is quick to capture Ellie's lips with hers.

"But a little mess is worth having you home" Dina smirks, pressing one last kiss to Ellie's check before taking the spatula from her hand.

"But I'd like to avoid all of us ending up in the clinic so I think I'll handle breakfast."

Ellie opens her mouth to respond but the slap of something wet landing on her head interrupts her.

"Holy shit!" JJ's mad cackling cuts of all other words. He's bent over, tears falling from his eyes.

Dina is just as bad, laughing so hard she's snorting.

Ellie reaches up and feels the remnants of the half cooked pancake that had been stuck to the ceiling.

Yeah she definitely regrets not learning how to cook.

Day 3: Rebirth

I’m trying here, if Maria hadn’t allowed me to stay with her and given me purpose I don’t think I would have made it. I’ve been here before, loved here before but it all feels new and different again. Today Dina actually stayed over to talk with me. I’m being stupid I know but it made me feel that I’m not wrong in coming back. She even sat there with me and read while I played a song. I didn’t tell her but it’s one of my originals. I hope I can share many more with her…

Must have been from when you’d pounce on your hands and knees and bark at him.
