I wrote this poem a couple of days ago, while I was up late. It combines some very personal thoughts, that center around the meaning of life and the struggles we must overcome and let go, so that we can move on freely. I had been reading a lot of Eckhard Tolle as well, which was quite the life changing experience. His writing evoked many new ideas and ideals, which I hope to incorporate more and more into everyday life. I wish you all a wonderful start into the new year, with plenty of love, joy and creativity! Many thanks to you for your support and your likes. Hope you enjoy! Cheers! E.M. Slocum Poem by E.M. Slocum Music by PessoaZ https://soundcloud.com/pessoa1972 Shadow Fight Spirits in the sky How come I keep asking why When all is bright and clear That silence always conquers fear. What weight I must endure! How much pain is there to cure? Without this future or that past - How, I ask, shall this ever come to last? Truth speaks - it has no voice and leaves me with one simple choice: To take life as is, or believe in life that never lives. "Set me free!", I plead and I demand. "I can not take - I can not stand. After all these tears I have lost and the time that it has cost." Truth says: With awakening there is fear and doubt will try and cover the sheer and inflict a memory of pain and shout: "All is lost in vain!" and kick and stomp and claim its right, as it is loosing its own shadow fight. Breathe calmly See freely Walk steadily Listen clearly and therefor you will be.

My goal is to continue discovering the hidden stories and mysteries, in so called motionless objects and to create artful pictures and scenarios with that approach. I am fascinated by simplicity and texture, which I capture both in the city streets and in nature. Thank you in advance for your time, interest and your support. Hope you enjoy!
First New York Exhibition October 5th! Check out the website for inspiring and new artwork! :-)

Perspectives
Many many years ago, my mother and I walked down the street. We were talking about  somethings and nothings. Suddenly she stopped, bent down and picked up a stray feather, that was lying on the sidewalk. She held it up against the light and began inspecting it from every angle imaginable. Moments passed without her nor me saying anything. We both just kept staring at this delicate but so commonly object, while it started changing its shape and appearance before our eyes. The world around us slowed down its pace, became muted, unimportant. All that mattered was her hand moving the feather, the light shining on and through it and the stories that were unveiled with each passing moment. “Sometimes, you have to hold things up, turn them around, to truly see them.”, she said and placed the feather back upon a wall. We continued walking. The world took up its pace again. The images of the feather stayed with me. And those moments with her remain as vibrant and clear, as if I'd just remembered them yesterday. E. Animism
“Animism is the religious worldview that natural physical entities—including animals, plants, and often even inanimate objects or phenomena—possess a spiritual essence...
...Animism encompasses the belief that there is no separation between the spiritual and physical (or material) world, and souls or spirits exist, not only in humans, but also in all other animals, plants, rocks, geographic features such as mountains or rivers, or other entities of the natural environment, including thunder, wind, and shadows.“ Wikipedia

Quote
Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there. It doesn’t matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that’s like you after you take your hands away. The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime. " Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
