Empyrean Series: Fourth Wing/Iron Flame

Hi all who are still here! My last post was in 2022, so I'm very impressed if you're still around :) I only make lookbooks nowadays if I'm truly inspired and the time has finally come.

I read the first two available books (Fourth Wing and Iron Flame) in the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros so quickly and am still so obsessed. If you are a fan of fantasy and steamy content, I wholeheartedly recommend this series. I used a lot of harnesses/buckles in place of knife sheaths and video game outfit conversions for this lookbook and I look forward to dedicated cc once the Amazon Prime show debuts :)

Stranger Things 4

Like many of you, I've been a fan of Stranger Things since its debut in 2016 and I have enjoyed what we've seen of the season so far. I'm loving that Running Up That Hill is charting and I am very scared that Eddie will die in Part 2 😩 I based the casts' outfits on what they wore this season, but I did sprinkle in some previous seasons inspired cc in my 1980's lookbooks if you're looking to create even more outfits/characters (80s Part 1, 80s Part 2)

As usual, I did a bunch of recolors to try to make the outfits as accurate as possible, so shout out to the following: @aharris00britney x @ayoshi for Dustin's 'Thinking Cap', @owlplumbob for Max's vans, @afternoonzephyr for the Hellfire logo I put on @darte77's jacket, @simshouseirisnovak for Will's shirt, and Sims4 Marigold for Argyle's hat. Bridgerton: Season Two Lookbook

Season 2 of Netflix's Bridgerton continues to take place in the competitive world of Regency era London's ton during the season, when debutantes are presented at court. While Season 1 focused on Daphne Bridgerton, Season 2 focuses on the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony, and his quest to find the new Viscountess. At the same time, Lady Danbury is sponsoring the Sharma family, Mary, Kate and Edwina, from India for the season. Anthony and Edwina begin courting, but neither Kate nor Anthony can deny their feelings for each other.

This is my second Bridgerton lookbook and while I tried to do different characters this time, I couldn't help but do Anthony (obviously), Eloise and Lady Danbury again. I'm a bit intimidated by the Featherington's outfits...perhaps I'll make them for Season 3 😜

Bridgerton Lookbook

Bridgerton is an American streaming television period drama series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. It is based on Julia Quinn’s novels set in the competitive world of Regency era London’s ton during the season when debutantes are presented at court.

As I am not always the best at recreating real people, I started with base sims by the following Origin IDs: MairMay (Daphne and Simon), Sophia2202 (Anthony and Marina), Ragdoll1994 (Eloise and Penelope), and Jayjay1087 (Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury.) Thank you all so much for sharing your incredible skills with the rest of us mere mortals! As usual, I made my own tweaks, added makeup and skin details, etc.

I was late on the Bridgerton bandwagon, but I’m here now! I recolored quite a few pieces to try to capture the show’s Modern Regency aesthetic…as bright yellow and hot pink weren’t big in the early 1800’s 😉 I hope it did them justice!

Encanto Lookbook

We interrupt this hiatus for the women of Encanto lookbook! I try to keep up on the latest Disney movies, but I did not expect to love this movie as much as I do. The music quickly ended up on my "On Repeat" playlist, so the next logical step for me was to recreate the cast in the Sims 😊 I did some recolors to try to make the outfits as accurate as possible.

Britney Spears Lookbook

Long time no see y'all! I've taken a pretty long break from the Sims 4 but I finally got back into the game when I was inspired to create a pop music icon: Britney Spears.

Like a lot of us, I was horrified to get a glimpse into the hell she's been living in the past 14 years under her conservatorship. But I'm very happy that we're finally getting to a place in society where we're talking about mental heath and she is able to get her day(s) in court. I hope she gets her freedom from her father and some form of justice soon. For this lookbook, I only created outfits she wore before the conservatorship, where she presumably had some control of her career/finances/life.

Forgive my crappy editing...I struggled trying to get my two in-game screenshots to kind of match my CAS screenshots.

Decade Lookbook: 2000’s

2000’s fashion was global mash up of trends that included the fusion of previous vintage styles, global and ethnic clothing (e.g. boho), and the fashions of numerous music-based subcultures.

Hip-hop artists expanded into fashion in the 00’s with brands such as Rocawear, Ekko and Sean Jean and also rapped about fashion trends, such as the Nelly classics: Grillz and Air Force Ones.

In an entirely different subculture, Emo bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday inspired emo/scene teens to straighten their hair, wear heavy eyeliner and rep their favorite bands or cartoons on their hoodies.

Other popular trends: Trucker hats, visible underwear, low rise jeans, logo jewelry and purses, velour tracksuits (Juicy Couture if you were rich or famous), airbrush and/or rhinestone words on shirts, and hair scarves.

Decades Lookbook - The 1990’s

This lookbook, along with my 1980’s lookbook, was requested by Olivia of @starladyvibes.

I tried my best to include all the clothing styles of the 1990’s: grunge, modern preppy, punk and hip-hop. The 90’s are back right now, but I am thankful that thin, tiny eyebrows did not make a resurgence. I was born in the early 90’s so this was a ton of fun for me to create. 😊

Decades Lookbook: The 1970’s

Next up in my 20th Century Decades series is the 1970’s.

Polyester jumpsuits, fringe jackets, flared pants, maxi dresses and retro T-shirts are just a few of the decade’s memorable clothing for women. Men’s clothing was similar with loon pants, pattern shirts, platform shoes, and big belts.

Disco took over the 70’s. In hot nightclubs in New York City or Paris, dressing for a disco was a chance to wear your personality, much like a costume. With flashing lights, spinning disco ball and loud music, a chance for conversation were minimal so the disco costume had to say it all.

Decades Lookbook: The 1960’s

From the civil rights movement, to the shocking assignations of Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy and of course, the Vietnam War, the 1960's were an eventful decade. Naturally, there were many different fashion trends as well.

In the early years, women’s fashion idol was Jackie Kennedy Onassis with her white pearls and tailored suit dresses. By the middle of the decade, supermodel Twiggy had women freeing their minds and bodies into clothing that didn’t require any extra thought or effort. From modest to “there is no such thing as too short,” 1960’s fashion was in many ways like the 1920’s flapper revolution. Men continued to wear suits and sweaters, but added British Mod, Beatnik, and Hippie styles to their wardrobe.

Decades Lookbook: The 1950’s

Last but not least in my 20th Century Lookbook series is the 1950’s. I saved this decade for last because it’s one of my personal favorite styles (see simself lookbook) and I actually already made a 50’s lookbook when I first started this simblr! Thank you all for following along and I hope if you attempt the Decades Challenge that I made your life a little easier 😊

The 1950’s was a decade where housewives wore full skirt dresses, husbands donned suits and fedora hats, and teenagers danced to Rock ‘n Roll in poodle skirts at sock hops. I took inspiration from James Dean, Elvis, the original Barbie doll and Bettie Page for a few of these looks.

By the end of the decade, the world had largely recovered from World War II and the Cold War developed to a hot competition between the United States and the Soviet Union by the early-1960’s.

Clashes between communism and capitalism dominated the decade, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. The conflicts included the Korean War in the beginnings of the decade and the beginning of the Space Race with the launch of Sputnik 1.

The 1940’s started during WWII where clothing had to be economical but still fashionable. The pin up girl kept men entertained overseas while Rosie the Riveter was an inspiration for women on the home front (in the USA).
