imagine a horribly fucked up au where some people's orginals survived the blank week ala zombie movie. imagine if Yakou's.was one of them.... imagine if they met.

I've been itching to write about the Blank Week, and this ask inspired me! Unsurprisingly, what follows is a short excerpt that made me think 'oh god what have I wrought' the whole way through.

What I like about Yakou’s and Yuma’s relationship in the game is that technically Yakou is the first kind soul Yuma meets in-game who remains alive for more than a day and in Kanai Ward itself. He was willing to confront the Peacekeepers and risk confrontations in order to save Yuma from the Peacekeepers’ corrupt plan. He provided a rain hat and cape in order to keep Yuma safe from the rain. He even lets him stay in the Agency, his home mind you, when he couldn’t afford a hotel room like the other detectives.

He’s been a dad to him since night one.

I can't stop thinking about this audio every time I see Yakou's panicked animation

I just realized something cute.

So y'know how Yuma suddenly gets his hat n cape during the prologue as he n Yakou are heading to the rooftop? Well that obviously means the only way he could've gotten them was from Yakou. The hat has the WDO symbol after all, so these weren't bought. This means that the hat n cape were clothes given to Yakou that he either obtained during his time as a trainee or was mailed to him when he arrived back in Kanai Ward after his training. In addition, the two of them didn't even go to the agency beforehand, Yakou had the hat n cape with him the whole time on his way to save Yuma. He was ready and waiting to give Yuma his own attire since he didn't have any of his own, it's so sweet.

Also the idea of a younger Yakou wearing the hat n cape with his own WDO uniform like the train group is really adorable, we need more pre-game Yakou content in this world.

Well fellas, I just finished Vivia's DLC tonight (gonna save Yakou's for tomorrow hopefully) and all I can say is...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

YAKOU IS VIVIA'S REASON FOR LIVING, WHICH MAKES CHAPTER 4 THAT MUCH MORE MEANINGFUL BECAUSE VIVIA WANTED TO PROTECT THE ONE WHO GAVE HIM THE ONE THING HE WANTED IN LIFE. THEY REFERENCED THE RESTAURANT STORY! YAKOU FORCED OPEN A WHOLE ELEVATOR DOOR TO TRY TO FIND VIVIA! VIVA'S SLIGHT HESITATION WHEN GRABBING THE UMBRELLA CAUSE HE WAS THINKING OF TOUCHING YAKOU'S HAND. YAKOU GIVING VIVIA THAT UMBRELLA IS MOST LIKELY THE REASON HE HAS THAT UMBRELLA TATTOO, A SYMBOL OF HIS WILL TO LIVE IN A GIFT FROM THE ONE WHO GAVE HIM PEACE.

How casual Yakou was abt having a knife to his throat killed me, I love him so much

Meanwhile any time I see a knife anywhere in Yakou's vicinity I get war flashbacks, video proof included (OBS ate my microphone quality in this recording -_-).

Let's be real, Yakou's seen a lotta shit and he went through a near-death experience when he was 16-17. He's probably had a knife at his throat several times already; it's all a part of the job. It still spooks him every time though, he can never get too comfortable.
