My God, it had been years, I don't know if this blog is still open or anything but... I wanted to thank you for writing your story back in 2015! When I was a teen I love it haha, and I ship Randicon yeah but mostly I was there for the lore! So... Thank you and I can't wait to read the rewrite ver.

Hey there, I really appreciate this ask! Thank you! :) I'm glad my story had such an impact for you. It's really easy to forget just how much people genuinely love/d my story, and it gives me more confidence in my decision to do a rewrite ^^

Work on the rewrite is a bit slow-going (I'm a perfectionist and I get busy with life stuff) but my editor and I are slowly getting chapters done! :3

Damn, with ff.net now being confirmed abandoned, I think I might make an official announcement about the rewrite much sooner than I wanted. I may also have to do a final update for OG ETN and post it on ao3 if ff.net goes down before I finish getting it ready. 😩

That said, I will probably post OG ETN on AO3 in the near future. I already have it archived here on Tumblr, but this is for people who prefer using AO3 to access it, and maybe even draw in new readers. 🤔

Also, good eye! :D You're 100% correct about my inspiration for this piece! I downloaded a ton of old episode posters from @//jackiecous, and I spent time studying it! I had originally planned on making the entire poster line less, but after how much trouble I had with the Sorcerer, I decided not to 😅

But ye, I tried my best to emulate the show's style and add a little of my own to the mix 😁

Can't wait to see your sketch!!! :D And, I'm curious to hear what you think about the AO3 stuff 👀

Update: There’s way too many posts to actually go through and tag or delete. Like, I didn’t use this blog very often throughout the years, but I reblogged quite a lot. Uhhh, so I think I’m just gonna have to continue properly tagging any new posts I make.

That said, I do want to make character profiles and charts for people to look over once more of the rewrite is actually finished.

On a brighter note, I finished my last final for the semester! I’m on break again, so I can get back to working on ETN stuff!

I have stuff planned for ETN’s birthday, so I’m on a mission to get that finished up 👀

Coming in w the angst hehe so it seems that nomi has some kinda self-blaming/self-worth issues and some degree of trauma from their family’s deaths. Do they have survivor’s guilt? How does their past affect their relationship w Randy now :0?

And with how much of a rascal lil prankster they used to be, what would nomi’s family think of how much they changed the past 800 years?

*Laughs in Spanish* Oh, Nomi has some intense survivor's guilt, and they have plenty of deep-rooted trauma as a result. Nomi tends to blame themselves a lot, especially, when things go wrong. Perhaps the best example of that is anything having to do with Mac Antfee. They also deal with self-worth issues, but that was before the death of their family :'))))

Nomi's current friendship with Randy is already effected by this-- whenever Randy doesn't understand something, Nomi takes it as a personal failure in their abilities to teach and typically blames themselves when things go really, really bad. It's why Nomi can appear cold and distant at times, despite how much they obviously aren't this way normally.

So when they do finally become a couple, some of these issues still exist. Nomi can still appear less than affectionate and they tend to internalize their problems, afraid of burderning Randy any further than they already have. It takes a long, long time for Nomi to unlearn some of this and to better cope with their issues (including mental illnesses like anxiety, depression, and ptsd).

Tbh, if Nomi's family could see them now they would all be shocked and heartbroken. Nomi would barely be recognizable with how different their personality is. After all, this isn't the fun-loving and playful sibling they grew up with; Nomi is a battle-hardened warrior with a haunted look in their eyes.

Tbh, I don't usually sit down and plan out my stories. Like, the entirety of OG ETN was me compiling together what I thought were cool ideas or just writing whatever my gut told me to.

This is the first time I've ever decided to spend time plotting stuff out, and it's been both a challenge and not. It's challenging because I'm having to organize my ideas, but it's not challenging because coming up with ideas is easy for me LOL

But yea, having stuff plotted out is making it easier for me to write! I just wish I had more time to actually write :')

Yea, it's crazy to think I worked on ETN since way back in 2013, and now it's 9th birthday is coming soon!

Haha, well, I'll probably only upload a tiny snippet, but I hope people will enjoy it! My editor and I put a lot of work into this, so I hope it shows :'D

Additionally, with summer vacation coming just a little after ETN's birthday, I'm hoping to start getting some designs up and posted. Including some redesigns of Nomi's family, my new take on the Norisu Nine, and more. :>

Yea, the concept of Yasuo has actually been around for a long time! I didn't initially come up with his character, but I used to rp with an old friend of mine, and we sort of came up with his character that way. I've refined his character a lot more though, so he's slightly less of a monster compared to what he used to be like 😅

But I'm glad you enjoyed the lore behind his character! I might dig up Ruby's post and share some of her backstory tbh 👀

Thanks again, and hopefully, I'll be able to get stuff done and actually begin posting again :)

Hmmm so as far as I know, I don't think I've ever talked about Randy's dad. 🤔 Well, if there was an award for #1 dad…. It would definitely not go to Yasuo Akiyama. I admittedly don’t have his full story charted out, but he effectively leaves Ruby and a baby Randy in order to keep his family inheritance and take over his father’s (Randy’s grandpa) company in Japan.

To be fair, he wasn’t a complete scumbag at first. He was a shy, awkward transfer student in Norrisville, who fell for Ruby, his English tutor at the time. Yasuo was a sweetheart, and he initially wanted to pursue a serious relationship with Ruby, especially after she became pregnant. However, Yasuo’s father did not approve of their relationship, largely because it “tarnished” the Akiyama name. Mr. Akiyama essentially gaslit and manipulated Yasuo into “doing what was best for the family name,” and Yasuo ended up “agreeing” with his father. (Because if he didn’t, Mr. Akiyama intended to give the company over to someone in the company and not Yasuo, if Yasuo chose not to go along with him.)

All of this cumulated to Yasuo becoming a cold, detached person with little interest in being a father since he now had to carry his “duty” to his family. When Randy was born, Ruby refused to give him the Akiyama name and instead stuck with her maiden name as Yasuo walked out on them not too long after.

Since then, he’s upheld his duties as the owner and CEO of his family’s company, and he has made no attempts to reach out to either Ruby or Randy. Although, if he did, Ruby would no doubt do everything in her power to keep him away.

Will he make an appearance in the ETN rewrite? Probably not 😅 Yasuo was sort of the villain I intended for OG ETN’s sequel. His original storyline would have gone something like this: he would have made regular attempts at getting back into Ruby and Randy’s lives, but not for the sake of making genuine connections, but rather, because he needed an heir to his company. After abandoning Ruby and Randy, Yasuo basically couldn’t hold down a relationship long enough for kids to come about, and well…. Randy was sort of a miracle baby since Yasuo was mostly *cough* shooting blanks *cough* if you catch my drift. This meant that Yasuo’s only hope of continuing the family legacy was Randy, and neither Randy nor Ruby would have cared to help him with that, lol.

I might allude to him in the rewrite, but I doubt I’ll have him make an actual appearance. Buuut, can you tell where Randy got a lot of his appearance from? :’D
