“Thanks!” Emily flashed a quick smile and sat down when the papers were moved. She was well aware that she’d been told the other was busy, but it didn’t stop her from continuing to talk. “Sorry for the intrusion. What are you working on?”
@equnimity liked for a starter!

“Oh uh, hi. I’m a little busy but I can make room for you if you need to share the bench.” She started picking up her papers that were spread out over the classroom desk.

viinylscratch:
Dae briefly glanced up. “Any place that kicks you out for swearing is not a nice place.” But Dae decided to be somewhat nice. Even though he regrets coming to the restaurant. If you can’t order take out It’s not worth it.
Thinking about my lips,Dae
Dae nearly choked on his water when he heard that question. There was a part of him  would’ve called Oliver a cocky dumbass and moved on. But there was also the fact that Dae may have accidentally thought about the kiss a couple of times so technically that’s a yes.  And now he’s thinking about Oliver’s lips. He can’t catch a break today. Dae decided to roll his eyes and shrugged.
“I don’t think I can respond when we’re in a nice place.” Dae said mocking Oliver. It was a low blow but it’s not like Oliver even cared. Oliver changed the subject right after he asked anyway.
“Yeah.” Dae shrugged. “It’s the one time I can’t walk in with jeans. “ Dae smirked. “You don’ t really think I’d dress up  to hang out  do you?” Dae rolled his eyes. He really wanted to call Oliver a cocky dumbass “You’re sexy as always.” Dae deadpanned.  He really did immediately regret what he said. Why isn’t his sarcasm on high today. Dae eyed the Oliver’s soda before he stared back at the menu.
“I think I’ll get a milkshake instead of coffee.” Dae muttered changing the subject. He usually hated the substance but he realizes he’ll never sleep tonight if he had coffee now.Sugar was somewhat close to caffeine.
“It’s a disturbance and there are kids here.” He defended despite not really caring. Honestly, he did think being kicked out for swearing wasn’t a good enough reason but he wasn’t willing to risk it.  Oliver sat back in his chair, dumb smirk on his face thanks to Dae’s reaction. If Dae hadn’t reacted in the way he did, then perhaps Oliver wouldn’t keep going. He was enjoying it. He was also pretty sure he knew what Dae was getting at with his next words, trying to say his insults were too much for public. But the vague statement was open for playing, allowing Oliver to think of a jab back. “Too risque? I understand. I would get those feelings about me too. In fact, you already did.” He took a sip of his drink. Their food was going to be quite a while, it wasn’t instant like the usual placed they visited. Oliver settled for fiddling with a napkin while they waited, attempting to fold it as he listened to Dae. “No. Even if it was a date, I’d expect you to show up in casual attire. Good luck with finding a job, dude.” He paused folding for a moment when Dae said what he did, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards slightly. With a raised voice, he said: “Darling, let’s keep that for ourselves. No one wants to hear that while they’re eating.”  After a few more moments of folding, Oliver had produced a shoddy crane with a wonky beak. Napkins weren’t good folding material. “Can you digest that much milk? It’ll be massive, dude. They always are for some reason. Good for your money’s worth, ‘suppose.”

viinylscratch:
“That is kinda hot…” Dae said aloud without thinking. He immediately turned to Oliver. “Well on most girls I bet it is. Maybe you could pull off depending on how much leg you show.” Dae couldn’t believe half the stuff he was saying right now. He cleared his throat. “But you were the one who said to make jokes so I did.”
Dae took a quick glance the waiter before looking down at the menu. There were too many unfamiliar terms and kinda expensive prices. This was not a menu at Taco Bell. Dae muttered a couple curse words hoping to find something remotely familiar.
“Okay.” Dae relented. “I think I know what I’ll order now.” Dae paused and looked up at Oliver. “Daco-” Dae snorted. That was such a bad joke “It looks like you might need some caffeine in your system too.” Dae chuckled to himself. “I’ll dub you Mad Lips.” Dae meant to say Mad Libs but it was too late. ‘Like the book you fill in the blanks- those are pretty banging.”
Dae took the pitcher and poured himself a glass of water. Why is getting nervous. It couldn’t be because of Oliver. He was just his friend- his very attractive friend but still his friend. Dae briefly met Oliver’s eyes before pouring another glass of water.
“I’ve  just got back from an interview.” Dae explained. “So forgive me if I sound strange today.”
Damn, he was so weird. The two weeks really took a toll, huh? Oliver nodded, half-agreeing. “Yeah. On girls I can see how it look good. Don’t think fishnets are for me, but I can pull off a decent ripped jean if I want to.” He rarely did since he hadn’t found the ripped jean for him, but perhaps one day it was possible. Shopping needed to happen soon. Oliver frowned. “Try not to swear when we’re in a nice place.” While he personally had no problem with it, there were going to be people who did. Which, really, he didn’t care for usually but he wanted to be able to eat. The noises coming from his stomach were a clear sign of that.  He called back the waiter, ordering his own meal with a soft drink since he’d need to drive but water was too boring for his tastes. Once the waiter left with their orders, Oliver raised an eyebrow. “That’s Mad Libs. With a b. Thinking about my lips, Dae?” Oliver provoked, taking a sip of his water. “Looking for a new job?” He asked, in return to the comment about the interview. “As long as it’s better than whatever they were paying you at Walmart. Which is why you’re all dressed up, right? Could have told me so I didn’t look a fool dressing down but—” Oliver let out a dramatic sigh. “I still look great, it’s okay. I’ll forgive it.”

viinylscratch:
Dae wanted to interject that playing around is what got the both of them in this awkward situation. Actual dates. Dae tried to ignore that stupid pang in his chest. Maybe it’s a sign to just relax. “I need at least caffeinated drink before making a joke.”
“It does suit you.” Dae admitted. “I personally would never get a piercing or all that jazz at this point but your friend must have good fashion sense.” It was nice to hear that Oliver at least has other people to be with. “It’s such a shame she couldn’t help you with the rest of your outfit.” Dae sneered. “I’m 100% sure I got a shirt like that at my place.”
Dae stared into the setting they were in. This was a bit nicer than he expected. Dae looked back at Oliver. “Google said it was the nearest place from the office .” In hindsight he should checked better. Dae shrugged. “Let’s wait til the menu comes- maybe everything here is under $10.00.” He could tell it probably wasnt but Dae was attempting to be  optimistic.
“In the mean time we have to ask ourselves the important questions .” Well Oliver said to joke around, “What are the chances this will taste better than Taco Bell.”
“Really? You really want that? Because all she seems to wear is fishnets with ripped jeans, and I’m not sure you want me showing up in that. Unless... you do?” It worked for her but he’d avoid that as much as he could, plus he looked good right now — Dae must have been jealous or something. Oliver was well aware of what looked nice, as shown by his fashion sense on a day-to-day basis. Oliver rolled his eyes and adjusted his posture. The two of them looked really off and out of place here, especially considering their mismatching outfits. At least no one would think they were on a date. “It’s better not to lie to ourselves.” He called a waiter over and he handed them the menus, leaving promptly after. Everything seemed reasonable to Oliver, but it was probably a different story for Dae. He made his mind up within moments, but he waited for Dae to pick. “Don’t look at the price and just pick, I’ll pay anyway.” He told him, placing down his own menu. “You might become a taco if you keep eating them. Then, what’ll I call you? Daco?” That wasn’t even a good joke, moments after saying it he shook his own head. He shouldn’t have let such a subpar joke be released from his lips, he’d have to make it up.

Wooshik rolled his eyes, shifting gear and going just a bit faster. “So small talk isn’t your thing, huh?” He glanced over at the other woman, “are you always this pleasant?” First she kicked him and almost got them killed, and now she was just being mean to him. He was completely innocent.
Yuriko just kept quiet, not wanting to answer the questions that were clearly just pokes at her as a person. She didn’t want to deal with it. For the next few moments, she just sat and listened to the radio and leaned her head against the window — not the comfiest of places, quickly gaining pain. Part of her thought to apologise. She sighed, lifting herself from the window. “I didn’t mean to almost kill us, by the way.” That was as close as it was going to get to an apology for now. “And, to answer your questions from earlier, no. No one enjoys small talk.”

viinylscratch:
Dae was a bit surprised seeing Oliver in person. Oliver looked normal but at the same time he look different. Then again it was about 2 weeks ago. Dae rolled his eyes.  Even he’ll admit he felt a bit stupid in formal clothes.
“The answer to that question is up to you.” Dae replied in his usual fashion. At least Oliver was being somewhat normal. He didn’t have to bring up the kiss but Dae will worry about that later. Dae shrugged as he walked into the restaurant.
Dae frowned when he noticed a line at the front. This was going to take forever. He turned towards Oliver and saw something different. He stared at the object in Oliver’s ears. Well at least it was a conversation starter. “So you got your ear pierced?” Dae asked.
Dae’s reply was so boring. When was he going to lighten up? Never, probably. Oliver placed his hands in his pockets as they waited, not bothered about the queue. “This is why you don’t get actual dates. It was a joke, dude. Play along sometime.” Oliver kept his tone light to show he was mostly joking, though there was pretty much a large truth to his words. At least, he believed so. Oliver rolled his head a few times, releasing tension as Dae looked at him. He was just taking this all as a joke, trying to get back into the rhythm of their friendship. “Hm? Yeah. Looks good, doesn’t it?” He grinned, moving his head to the side dramatically and flicking the earring slightly. “I got a new friend, she said it’d look good on me. She was right.” Solidarity at it’s finest, he and Dahee.  The wait for the place was up and Oliver held up two fingers to show that they needed a table for two, and they were quickly ushered to a seat. Oliver poured himself a glass of water. “This is a bit much, dude. And you’re going to make me pay, right?” Oliver tutted and shook his head. Really, it didn’t bother him.

Yuto watched the librarian standing up and a promise to search for the book, he nodded his head absently his smile still warm curved on his lips. It was not a long wait till the other arrived. By then he scrunched a paper cup that had filled with the water suggested by the librarian. Yuto never had felt like this before the anticipation of something. It made him thirsty and as he spied between the gaps of the rows for the librarian while he went to the water dispenser he was certain he would return to his lodging with his new reading material.
Though he still had the nagging feeling of the book not being available and his instinct was proven when the helpful librarian returned to his desk. “No luck” Yuto shyly commented, his lower lip jutted out as he pouted. It’s okay he thought “I guess it’s not my luck.” he laughed nervously, hoping to assure the librarian that it was okay.
“Did you say four days?” Yuto tapped his foot trying to recall what he had heard earlier. “I think I could come by next. . week?” he tilted his head to the left slightly, imagining his schedules he had set before his trip. “Ah! It’s alright” folding his hands on the desk as he straightened his position, “I just needed that one book only. I think if I remembered it. I think I am able to swing by next week.” Yuto nodded his head, confirming it confidently. “Uh.. May I know your name? Just in case if you won’t be here next week?”
He ran his hand across his hair, smiling shyly, “I am terrible with faces but great with names.”
He was looking less intimating now, thanks to the small gestures and soft-spoken words. Xuan was thankful for this, and his behaviour overall, since he would have been very much in a state if he’d gotten really upset about the book not being there. “Yeah, sorry. I wish it was here.” “Four days.” Xuan nodded, confirming. That was if the person returned the book, though. If they didn’t... then, well, they could lose the book for good. Hopefully that wasn’t the case and Xuan didn’t want to think about it. “Next week it should be here, yes. I can contact you when it’s returned, then you can come in any time past that to take it out yourself.” He explained, thought the man clearly already knew that, so why did he say it?  Xuan paused for a moment at the question, biting his lip nervously. He was a little worried it was going to end up with a complaint under his name. “U—uh... Xuan.” This was a watered down pronunciation of his name, since he wanted to be easy on him. “I should be here... it’s okay if not, the other workers are really helpful.” He reassured, plus he’d have to tell them about this anyway just in case. Xuan raised his hand to pull at the hair on the back of his neck gently, tugging as he spoke.  “If it helps, I’m the only guy here. So... it’ll be me if it’s a man.” At least, as far as Xuan was aware — he’d only seen his female coworkers. “Fortunately, I’m the opposite. I’ll remember your face.”
