🎃 Horror / Thriller Plots for Halloween 🦇

( only because i haven’t seen many on my dashboard and i’m kinda hungry for them. )

( feel free to reblog this for your own roleplay use. )

muse a moved into a house ( could be alone or with their family ) next to muse b, muse a doesn’t know about the house’s history. the house hasn’t had anyone stay for more than two weeks due to the sudden supernatural forces that inhabit it. muse b tells muse a about the house, and the both of them go on a historical, research journey trying to figure out what happened on the land and home.

muse a and muse b are at a carnival, they decide to go get their palms read. the palm reader refuses to read either muse a or muse b palm. the palm reader mentions that muse a or b have something ‘ demonic attached ’ to their presence. ( can play around and say maybe muse a or muse b parent sold their soul to the devil once they turn 21, and now the demonic spirit is here to claim their soul and live through their body ) . 

a massacre at a small town’s carnival by someone dressed as a clown leaves only two survivors, muse a and muse b ( both were children, you can decide how they survived ) . the two of them keep in touch over the years and provide comfort to one another ( having nightmares, they call each other in the middle of the night kinda stuff ) . only one night, 18 years after the massacre a person’s body is found in the lake whose face is painted with clown makeup only to trigger muse a to believe that the carnival killer is back to kill the remaining two survivors, muse b is reluctant. you can write it as the two of them receiving threats from the killer, and one of them being in denial. etc. or just make your own.

based off this new movie ( I can’t remember the name of it ) ,there’s a new app and it’s supposed to predict the day you die. muse a downloads it after muse b won’t shut up about it., the apps tells them they will die in three days ( or how many days you want ) , muse a thinks its a joke and deletes the app. the next morning the app is installed on their phone again. turning on the television, muse a’s see’s one of their friends has died on the same day the app told this friend they would die. muse a thinks it’s a sad coincidence, and deletes the app once more thinking she dreamt to delete it but didn’t. muse a has coffee with muse b, and as they are about to venmo muse b money for the coffee, muse a notices the app is back on their phone. muse a argues with muse b thinking muse b put the app on their phone again, since it was muse b’s idea to download it and try the app in the first place. now take this and make it your own. 

muse a and muse b are dating and they decide to go to muse a’s family cabin for the weekend - muse a’s family is planning on getting rid of it and the two decided it could be a nice romantic getaway while decluttering and tidying the place up for sale. the first night there muse b has nightmares, by night three muse a has unknown scratches along their back. muse b is confused and they go to the hospital, doctors say it looks like animal scratches not human. idk where i’m going with this but it can be something like the land belonged to a cult before muse a’s family bought it, or something idk.

the ring ( newer version ) inspired - there’s a killer video tape and anyone who watches it will die in seven days, muse a watches it as part of a school project, muse b is the girlfriend who stays behind while muse a is in college. after not hearing from muse a, muse b goes onto campus only to find out muse a has not been to class in days. eventually following the professor in charge, muse b learns briefly about the project, and the tape and watches it not seeing the big deal about it. muse b finds out and goes into a panic, revealing that the only way someone won’t die in seven days is if they pass the video along to someone else and since muse b saw muse a’s video they are now spared but muse a needs to find someone to watch the video or else their death will come in seven days.

the purge kinda ?? muse a and muse b are two newlyweds who moved into a new town not too long ago. the purge was not legal all over united states, there . were some states that opted out of the purge. the newlyweds before moving lived in a state where the purge was not legal. now moving into a state where it is legal, they attempted to defend themselves in such an amateur way. wood boards along the door, bolting doors shut - not realizing the people in the town did not fear driving a car through their home or taking drastic measures to enter the home. the newlyweds have wealthy jobs, and so have become a target of envy. on the night of the purge, they are attacked by four people. the two now muse try to survive the night, and if needed defend themselves by all means - even if killing is required. 

muse a’s parent’s are their adoptive parents, on muse a’s 21st birthday - their soul is given to satan. muse a’s adoptive parents promised muse a would be satan’s wife and bore satan a child in return if satan spared their lives ( you can come up with why ). muse b is muse a’s significant other ( we can say they are in college  or something ). muse a is haunted by weird visions, and dreams of demonic baby. muse a seeks help from a psychic who later explains muse a’s future about being satan’s wife. muse b supports muse a in attempting to overturn the deal and the two go on a journey.  ( you can even play around with this and say muse b is possessed by satan and makes love to muse a getting her pregnant and thus having satan’s child ).

MOVIE-BASED PARENT PLOTS !

ANGELS CREST The film is about this single father taking care of his son and one day as they go outside into the snow to play, the father gets distracted and his son wanders off and disappears. Search teams are called and they find that he had died in the cold. The father is racked with guilt and the mother of the child, suffering from her own issues, is angry with her ex, blaming him for the death of their son. 

Plotwise, muse a is a single parent looking after their child when tragedy strikes and their child passes away. Muse b is understandably upset and grieves the death of the child while blaming Muse A for not watching them closely. Together, the grieving parents must come to terms with the loss of their only child.

LOOK WHO’S TALKING The film stars John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. Kirstie’s character has an affair with her boss and gets pregnant. Months into her pregnancy, she finds out her boss/baby daddy is having an affair with someone else. She dumps him and ends up taking a taxi being driven by Travolta’s character. A taxi where her water ends up breaking and he speeds to take her to the hospital. Long story short, he makes sure she’s okay, drives her home from the hospital, and even babysits from time to time. Another long story short? He basically becomes the little guy’s father. 

Plotwise, Muse A is a pregnant mother whose life is upturned when she finds out the baby’s father is not loyal to her and leaves him, determined to go through her pregnancy alone. Muse B happens to be driving the taxi when her water breaks and takes on the responsibility of getting her to a hospital and even making sure that she’s not alone while she’s there. Muse A is learning to be a single mother but Muse B always shows up eager to help out. A romance slowly starts to bloom between the two, or they could just become very good friends. Whichever plot suits you best!

OVERBOARD The film stars Goldie Hawn, a spoiled rich girl living a life of leisure, and Kurt Russell, a widowed carpenter with four kids. Goldie’s character ends up falling off of her yacht and suffers amnesia. Deciding to teach her a lesson - or just get revenge from the way he was treated by the spoiled brat - Kurt’s character claims her as his wife and makes her life a living hell back at home. She goes from having people wait on her hand and foot to having to clean up messes all day long, cook meals for six, and claims that her husband is the devil. The two end up really falling in love with each other and even after she gets her memory back, she wants to be with him and be the mother to his children, giving up her luxurious life for one with him. 

Plotwise, Muse A is a spoiled rich brat who has everyone do things for them and has never worked a day in their life. Muse B is a widowed, single parent trying to make ends meet and ends up getting into hot water thanks to Muse A’s self-entitlement. After Muse A gets amnesia, Muse B decides a little revenge can go a long way and claims that they are married with kids. Muse B forces Muse A to take on a lot of the household work and gets the kids involved, too. As time goes on, the family becomes closer than intended.

THE FLORIDA PROJECT The film was about a single mom who did all kinds of things to get money, including stealing and conning people into buying cheap products, all the while living in a motel with her daughter. Her daughter would get into all kinds of mischief with the other kids who stayed at the motel, which was more times than not get on the manager’s nerves and he tried putting up with it (as long as the rent was paid on time). 

Plotwise, Muse A is the single mother trying to get by with enough to pay the bills and take care of her child. They both live in a motel where her child gets into a lot of trouble. Muse B could range from the child itself to the staff that work on the motel having to put up with the chaotic mother-daughter duo.

WHERE THE HEART IS The film follows five years in the life of Novalee Nation, a pregnant 17-year-old, who is abandoned by her boyfriend at a Walmart in a small Oklahoma town. She secretly moves into the store, where she eventually gives birth to her baby, which attracts media attention. With the help of friends, she makes a new life for herself in the town. 

Plotwise, Muse A is a pregnant mother-to-be who gives birth after being abandoned by her boyfriend. Muse B can either be a future love interest, a friend who helps look after her and the baby, or anyone you can think of.

UNIVERSITY PLOTS THAT DON’T REVOLVE AROUND HOOKUPS

muse a is a nervous person and the thought of moving away to university terrifies them. they end up living in shared accommodation and muse b is in a flat across the hall. they chat online in a group chat for the flat/building for a while then begin to talk privately, and muse b soothes their nerves about moving away and having to meet now people (cute things can pursue)

“hey i’m late on our first day and oh no, the only free seat is next to you. wait do you have a pen?”

“i’m an avid lover of ??? and this society means everything to me and during a meet up you ten up halfway through and wow okay you’re pretty sweet”

“we got paired up for a presentation but we’ve never really spoken and you’re pretty nice despite what other people say”

“so i totally didn’t spend that entire lecture doodling/on my phone and i had no clue what i was being taught pls help”

“it’s 3am and the library is pretty empty but you’re sat there stressing at your laptop, so i brought you a coffee and a bag of chips from the vending machine”

“my card won’t work in the card machine and it’s a busy lunchtime, wait… did you just buy my lunch?”

“you came over to hang out but i fell asleep while you were playing video games and two hours later you’re still here”

muse a and muse b are on the same course and can’t find the room for one of their first lectures so instead they bunk off and explore their new city/town together and have a good day and it’s really fun and cute

“wow my lecture sucked ass, i’m stressed asf and here we are at the on campus bar at 11:59am waiting to buy a drink because it’s been that kind of a day already”

“hey, it’s 2am and i can’t sleep so i’m messaging you randomly… wait you’re awake? come to my flat and we can cuddle”

All I want is a 1x1 where two detectives were recently partnered up and they but heads constantly but somehow manage to break cases and make arrests. Give me the whole “only calling each other my their last names until they don’t” trope and slow burn angst after having to patch each other up a lot. And they just become this ride or die pairing that trust each other and watch each other’s back that starts out as more of a “well I can’t let you die on me do you know how much paperwork that would be?” GIMME.
