Lmfao. I saw that post on your page being shared from a kurahi stan earlier and just want to say that I think it's hilarious that they still believe the entirety of the fandom experience should revolve around them.

It reminds me of this yuyu pairing popularity poll that was taken sometime recently and the first place was >of course< Kurahi. But the second and third place? was yusukexkeiko and kazumaxyukina. and the real kicker?

The poster really said "look how far we've come! Yeah sure we still stan kurahi but look at all these other ships that we support! We're so multi-shipper now!"

Like yeah sure.... you're "multi-shipper".... like when the first place is still the m/m pairing that's dominated the fandom for over two decades and the sencond and third is the canon heterosexual relationship adjacents? The ones that can't possibly get in the way of your ship? Yeah.... real "inclusive", amirite?

I bet you if we ask those people who voted for yus/keiko and 'bara/yukina if they ever wrote a fic about them or created artwork for them, and SOLELY for them, they would say "no". Ofc they haven't. Bc the only reason why they like them is bc they don't get in the way of their ship.

It's why the ao3 tags are FILLED with those ships because they only ever play as secondary relationships.

Anyway. My bad for ranting on your page but I just wanted to say good on you for trying to create a positive and inclusive fandom experience in a fandom that's generally been known not to have any for a long long time. I'm really excited to see what comes out of the event! Me and many other people will be waiting eagerly to be well fed :3

Hi, anon. I'm not too sure I know what popularity poll you're talking about? But damn.... Yeah, that's... err, telling, isn't it?

Which, I'm going to be fair here and say that I've read some legitimate Kuwakina and Yusukeiko fics that were really well written and showed a genuine appreciation for those ships. So, no. Not all of the ao3 tags are secondary relationships, but a good majority of them? Well, I haven't personally counted them, but I'm 60/40 that the numbers are favorable to that theory, lol.

Which is more of a glitch on Ao3's end more than anything. I really wish they had separate options for primary and secondary pairings to help combat that, but. That would be especially helpful for people's whose ships might still be popular, but not as popular as the fandom otp.

Also, I want to send a gentle reminder out there that just bc someone is a certain "shipper"—doesn't mean that we should immediately be categorizing them into the same group with other people who act that way. It's just a few bad apples in the bunch who have to make the experience rotten for everyone else, whether they mean to or not.

I am a very proshipper and believe that everyone should be allowed to enjoy in what they like... Whatever brings them joy and comfort or just tickles their fancy. Whether that's Kurahi, Yusuhi, Kuwameshi, KoBo, HieiYuki, Kurama-selfcest (like myself), etc etc. It's all valid to me.

I understand the need to vent (trust me), but we're swiftly toeing the line between venting and bashing. Which can quickly turn what is meant to be a positive, uplifting event into a war of ships—which is specifically what I'm NOT trying to do. This event isn't about that. So, please. Remember to keep it respectful 🙏

And thank you!! I'm excited, too! We've got some awesome creators signing up, and I'm pretty psyched about the ideas I've been seeing being thrown around so far 💓 I'm hoping as many people join up as possible so we can see all those brilliant ideas that are just floating around, waiting to be appreciated.
