Good news everyone ! They've decided not to wait for international broadcasters anymore and are moving forward onto production with local funds and broadcasters. Sadly that means you might not be able to access it from your country if you don't have a VPN.

Maybe once the show is getting done, more broadcasters will hop onto the project tho! Keeping my fingers crossed and y'all updated !

Hi !

The show is still looking for broadcasters sadly, not much has changed since I made the post. There’s not much more they can do now, they already made a teaser trailer, had a successful Kickstarter which helped them fund most of the writing stage but they can’t go anywhere without a broadcaster now.

Please support them by telling people about it and following them on socials!

It’s crazy to me that most people see a trailer like this and instantly want to watch the show : it’s intriguing, promises adventure, has stunning visuals and amazing animation...Yet, this project has been around for 2 years and still no broadcaster or platform will fund it.

Sure, the current fandom of the IP is very french but I don’t see how this would be a difficult show to sell, honestly. Heroic Fantasy may not be very represented in animation but it’s definitely one of the most popular genres of YA books. When you see the cultural impact that LotR, GoT, AtLA have had...and the cultural impact that this series of book has had on french youth, it’s obvious that this is just another legendary tale waiting to happen.

The fact that it’s a french story with mostly french fandom has been an obstacle, an easy argument for the broadcasters against this project. Please help me bring visibility to it by reblogging the trailer, and following the show’s Twitter and/or Instagram.

No worries! I keep an eye on what tumblr has to say about this project, mostly out of curiosity but also because I, as well, am an animation fan and nerd and would never want to miss a discussion about it.

Yes she has mostly been aiming for international broadcasters because France and/or Europe doesn’t necessarily have the funds to support a project with this quality…it’s quite ambitious with a lot of characters on the screen, and high quality 2D animation.

I agree that right now is the perfect time, especially since Arcane was such a hit, as well as critical role. The problem with these examples is that the broadcasters have an easy way to counter them : they are already internationally renowned IP with a strong following (CR the ROG podcast and League of Legends). A small French project like this one is harder to sell and compare to these.

I’m so excited for you to share that with other people from the industry! I’m really tryin to give it more visibility so that would be awesome.

The secrets of Kells didn’t actually do that well in the box-office compared to other animated movies (but personally I think it’s more the problem of the marketing than the movie itself).

Adventure Time did really well but it’s a semi-episodic show. For Ewilan they want to do an entirely serial show which really scares traditional broadcasters.

Oh lol I totally agree, I wouldn’t show broadcaster tumblr notes, can you imagine?? what a cringe.

No first of all I’m doing that to reassure my producer friend who has been working on that project for more than 2 years and is starting to lose hope : I wanted to show her she should definitely keep fighting because there are people out there who are waiting and dying for this kind of content.

Secondly, it was more a strategy to spread this post so that more people would hear about this project. The main problem with this project is that broadcasters don’t want to take risks rn. They either adapt already existing and popular IP or shows from very very famous people. This is an adaptation so there is an IP but it’s only known by French speakers. I’m trying to give the project some visibility to English speakers and more.
