Wait, so magic's real? The ability to make certain future events happen or not happen, the ability to scry the future, and communicating with entities outside our ken all exist? Truly?

Don't mistake magic for science. You cannot control the flow of causality or peer into the future with any sort of useful repeatable rigor. There are tarot cards, and they can be read, but don't bet money on prophecy. You'll go broke.

As for the other stuff; if you do the rituals right it can certainly feel like you're talking to something beyond moral ken, which I think is pretty fun regardless of whether or not it's real.

For pendulum readings I'll be doing

The questions are of the yes or no type, although there is maybe and unknown on my pendulum board it's usually just yes or no.

For tarot I'll be doing

$5 for a 3 card spread

This can be past/present/future or situation/action/outcome or any other 3 card variation, those are just the most well known.

I've got a few of those I can do. Ultimately even if you find a spread you want to and I don't have it listed I can totally do it, or I can recommend one for your situation.

What I've learned from working with the deities..

•They're going to watch you when you are at your best and when you are at your worst.

•They are going to watch you make stupid decisions and learn from your mistakes.

•They will let you know with subtle hints that they are with you whether you realize it or not.

•They understand that you are mortal, and inconsistent, and flawed, and learning- they forgive.

•You will fall in love with things you may have not been interested in before (seashells, water/oceans/beaches, lavender)

•Your interpretation of your deity will not be the same as others, and its beautiful.

•There will be times where you fall out of practice, and your deities will sometimes wait for you, otherwise you will have to wait for them.

•Sometimes you just have to sit there and rant. Whether they lend you an ear or not, your energy won't be wasted.

•You might have self-doubt and feel as though your are not doing enough when it comes to your devotion- you are though. Always.

Hey so what ate tarot decks yall love or would like to have because they're really cool? Oracle decks too even?

My first deck I got years ago from spencers gifts and I didn't really care for it much at all. The art wasn't that bad but it honestly felt like they didn't do any research on tarot when they made it, because some designs seemed to fit and some didn't at all. I eventually lost most of the cards and I'm not sure what happened after that.

My second deck was the Shadowscapes tarot cards. I love the deck and all its very mystical designs, it felt wise and powerful. Kinda like a mentor or guiding hand of an older loved one, stern, but also whimsical.

I spent a lot more time with the apps on my phone after that point because of convenience. Labrynthos tarot app is wonderful because you can customize the spreads and it actually does have lessons on how to interpret the cards. Also there is a little avatar you can customize as the major arcana and you can interact with it, and there's a little story and some stuff about the higher self. It's neat. Anything adequate by the Labrynthos academy(?) Group is a great tool.

I bought the miniature biddy tarot deck after that and I liked it. It was nice the guide book was simple enough to follow and I ended up gifting to a friend so. I don't remember much about it. But I'd like to maybe replace it one day.

The most recent deck I've bought was the Tarot of the Divine. This is one of my favorite decks and its so cool. Every single card is based on a myth or legend, in the little booklet it tells what culture the myth is from and gives a brief overview and the meanings behind it.

Now all of these are rider-waite decks, but I'd love to try out @normal-horoscopes Normal Tarot deck because I love the art and the concept and workings of the deck are completely original.

Honestly I'd love to get to the point to where I can start going readings again. I just haven't had the time. It was Honestly fun to do and a great learning experience. I hate being at the point in my life where passion projects are the kind of thing I don't have enough time for.

gods are more than their correspondences: an essay

having new needs/goals in your life or practices can also be an opportunity to connect more deeply with your current gods, spirits, and practices, instead of adding new ones.

I think occasionally we can view the spirit world and the divine the same way we view shopping for hobby supplies. I want to start working with bright, vivid colors, so maybe I'll get into markers, so now do I want Prismacolor or Copics?

And I think that can happen with gods and spirits, too. I want to connect more deeply to the earth, so I think I'll talk to a nature god, so now do I want Pan or Cernunnos?

Which on its face isn't really a bad thing, I guess. It's good to expand yourself when the time calls for it.

But also, I could just like, get really into all the watercolors I already have and learn new techniques, and learn to use them in a different way, to produce the vivid colors I'm looking for.

I think it can be easy to reduce gods and spirits down to their most famous key words and forget that they are complete, well-rounded beings. Yes, Mars has something to say about war and battle and standing your ground. So does Loki, Oak Tree, Gebo, and Monarch Butterfly.

I'm not saying like oh, your current retinue is perfect and if you can't fulfill your needs with them then just try harder. That would be silly beans for me to imply. Not every god or spirit is for everyone (just like not everyone is for them).

But I am saying that maybe if my watercolors are muddy, there's a chance that's more on my poor relationship with what I'm working with, you know? Not that they can't be vibrant, but that vibrancy comes from my learning, techniques, and time spent working with them.

If anyone is interested in learning more about tarot from a basic level I've found that I really like Labrynthos tarot app. It's nice and give you little lessons and quizzes on the all of the suits, major arcana, number values, and such and is quite comprehensive if you're just starting out. Also it's free, and as I am broke as fuck it's nice.
