AITA? I (26 M) assumed the bounty hunter out to kill me (18 M) was a woman. In my defense, he was dressed as such, with a long wig and feminine clothing. He seemed unreasonably annoyed at this, and all I said was that I didn’t “expect” the chain user to be a woman, which he was so peeved about he had to reveal his true gender to me. I dunno did he also think the chain user being a woman was incomprehensible? I admit I have my personal biases but I consider myself a feminist.

Edit: He’s trying to kill me because about 5 or 6 years ago me and my friends slaughtered his entire family.

Edit 2: I obviously respect women, three of my friends are women, I just was surprised initially that one could apprehend me in such a way since they’re small and weak. And obviously he was more surprised otherwise he wouldn’t have blown his cover.

Edit 3: oh my goddd enough with the whole “yta you killed his entire family” that was 6 years ago get a life smh

Kurapika with Best Friend! Reader who happens to be in a relationship with one of the Phantom Troupe members... 👁👁

Format : Headcanons + small oneshot!

Genre : Platonic ; Somewhat Angst

Warnings : very VERY teensy gun mention, massacre mention (kurapika's fam)

Authors note : t/n stands for troupe name, I didn't wanna just pick one and have it closed off to the possibilities of any of the troupe members being the partner of your choosing, hope that's okay!

You and pika had been friends for quite a while, after all you've known him since you were kids!!

When his family had been massacred, by a group which he did not disclose the name of, you were the main person he went to for general comfort.

You guys picked each other up when you were down and stuck together no matter what!

Of course, as you two got older you started to distance, but you still kept in contact here and there :D

Sometimes you accompanied him on easier, or not as dangerous missions he had, and it was quite fun!

You two had your inside jokes, each other's company, and most importantly, each others backs.

So when you found out that he was still hunting down that group, you obviously got concerned.

He assured you that he could handle it, and that he'd even taken out one of their stronger members!

This made you happy in the moment, but you were still a little put off at the idea of Kurapika going at all of this alone...

What better way to take your mind off of things than to get back into the dating picture!!! Right..?

Many of the people you saw and went on various dates with were nice, but they just didn't really have that special something you were looking for.. What that special something was? Honestly, you didn't know. But, you knew that when you found it, you'd know it.

A couple days later you met up with this person by the name of t/n , they seemed... amazing actually!

One date turned into two, then three, then four, alllll the way up until you two made it official! You had a romantic partner and they were everything you were looking for!

You did find it a bit odd that they preferred to not be seen around people, but you just lightly assumed it was social anxiety, or something like that.

Every once in a while you'd get to meet a friend of said partners', and they were all pretty neat! Up until you heard one of them mention something that caught your attention...

Your curiosity got the best of you, so you decided to go upfront and ask.

"Who's this.. Uvogin dude you guys keep talking about?"

A couple of the friends began to fill you in on the details, your partner included..

"A particularly skilled nen user took him from us not too long ago.."

"His death will be mourned by all of us.."

"If I ever get my hands on that blonde fucking chain guy I swear Ill have his head hung on a wall!!"

Now that caught your attention.. which lead to more questions... and more...

"Y/n, you don't happen to know this chain user, do you?"

"Oh no, I'm sorry.. Just.. wanted to know some extra information so if I DID see him I could help."

Surprisingly, the troupe members present bought your excuse. From this point on you frantically tried to contact pika, you had to have a word with him asap..

About a week later you two met at a rather secluded meeting point.

"Y/n?? What's wrong? You seemed so worried over the phone.. Is something bothering you? Are you scared? Nervous?"

"Actually.. I sort of am. That group you've mentioned before, would they happen to call themselves, The Phantom Troupe?" Kurapika's worried expression changed to something you couldn't quite grasp, it appeared as though it was a mixture of confusion, surprise, anxiousness, and.. anger?" He paused for a moment, then he raised his voice louder than you've heard in a long, long time.

"Y/n L/n, do you happen to be affiliated with them? Do you... Work for them?? HOW DO YOU KNOW THEM? WHAT IS YOUR FORM OF CONTACT WITH THEM-" His eyes began to glow with hints of red. You had to push him away from how close he was getting to you, intimidating AND uncomfortable, double trouble amiright..

"KURAPIKA! CALM DOWN PLEASE!!" He and his eyes' display of emotion settled to a point where you could actually utter a word without him having a seemingly dark aura, as if he were going to gun you down right at that second. You began to explain how you were... dating.. a member of the phantom troupe, unbeknownst to you up until last week when you called him. His facial expressions during your explanation and reasoning seemed to switch through a cycle of betrayal, disappointment, worry once more, and pure blank. This is where his face was settled at now, simply staring at you, or more so through you as you took it. You two stayed like this for what felt like hours, him staring at your still figure.. studying you almost.. as you began to shift in place as the uncomfy-ness of the situation grew and grew. Eventually he parted his lips, which appeared to signal him starting to speak, but then almost purposefully biting his tongue. He was hiding something. Holding something back.

"I need some time to think." With this simple sentence, he walked off, leaving you there all alone with so, so, so many thoughts swarming through your head.

Does he hate me now? Will he ever talk to me again? Is he going to do something to you? Interrogate you? Arrest you? Can he even do that?? Are you two even still FRIENDS???

"Friends.." that word tasted bittersweet as it rolled off of your tongue. You began to ponder once more, if you could even call yourself his friend right now. I guess you'd just have to wait and see.
