nobody reads poetry
if I started today, I could weave a trace
from this rainy city to the rainforests
to the bottom of the ocean and back
I could sew a poem with colossal wings
this poem conveys an unpolished idea
of what the wind sounds like in the universe
that flourishes within, how the fruits
of the celestial gardens taste like
but nobody has time to read poetry
who would read, when you can inject
three-second assumptions without side effects
nobody has time to read poetry
and people like me, we will stay silent

Writers aren’t people exactly. Or, if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying so hard to be one person.
