I got up extra early so I could watch before work and it was so worth it! (I squealed and danced through my living room at 7 am!) I was still smiling on my way to work.

I don't wish anything for Buck buuutttt how about a teeny tiny helicopter crash for the season finale, with Eddie coming to the rescue? After a season of Eddie feelings realizations, Buck and Tommy drifting apart because somehow Buck's not fully into it and Tommy knows what Buck still tries to ignore, Eddie pulling them out but also finally actually saving Buck?

What if the Bachelor episode leads to a discussion at the station about finding true love, about what you want and need in a partner, and about what it really takes to get that special relationship. Eddie repeats his wish for a partner who has his back. Buck says he needs someone who accepts his emotional baggage and doesn't mind that he's a little bit of a mess. Which earns him the softest look from Eddie as he silently shakes his head. Hen talks about how important it is to be a team and to trust each other. Chim shrugs and says that he just knows he wants Maddie in his life until his dying day, and Bobby adds that he'd gladly take a dozen bullets for Athena and their kids and he just knows that she feels the same.
"But how do you find something like this?" Ravi asks.
And Buck says, "You don't find it. You make it."
He doesn't look at Ravi, though. He looks at Eddie.
Eddie looks back at him.
And the rest of the team witnesses their Oh moment.

Buck and Eddie doing the faking being each other’s boyfriends thing when getting flirted with on a call, except the call is at the Bachelor mansion and the flirters are the bachelorettes, and the whole thing gets aired on national tv

I loved how it was shown just how much losing a parent as a child can affect your view - conscious or subconscious - on love and relationships. You grow up with the first-hand experience that even the happiest, most loving relationships can be torn apart any second, and it just does something to you. Eddie and Buck handled Chris' grief so well in this episode. If only one widowed father or mother watched and learned from them, the episode will have served a great purpose.

"Let go of me!"
Eddie felt Buck's fist on his lower arm, but it was a light punch, softened by the thick turnout, nothing but a weak attempt that Buck had to know was futile.
He tightened his grip around Buck's wrist. Underneath his fingers, Buck's own sleeve was slippery from the water. It was rising too fast, too mercilessly; through the deafening roars of the dying ship and the shrill sound of Buck's PASS alarm, Eddie thought he could hear a clock ticking.
It was always ticking for them, had been for years, and they had pretended not to hear it.
"Eddie, go, save yourself." Buck stared up at him, eyes wide and frighteningly dark against his white face. Eddie looked away. His gaze fell onto the stream of red, right where Buck was now pressing his free hand against his thigh again. The makeshift bandage was still in place, but not strong enough.
"Help will come," Eddie promised.
He had to believe it. Otherwise he might scream and curse the universe for its cruelty, for everything it had thrown in the way of so many good people who were currently fighting for their lives; he might break down and beg for a way to get to Buck, to be able to tear down the piled up barricade with his bare hands to free him from his trap.
"Eddie -"
"You've lost too much blood. If you pass out, you'll drown."
"Better me than you."
The resignation in Buck's voice almost drowned out the noises.
Eddie blinked against the stinging in his eyes. Water droplets flew as he shook his head.
"Buck, stop! That's not how this works. That's not how we work. You have my back, I have yours, remember?"
"Chris. Think of Chris."
His son's name from Buck's lips, spoken with such sadness, felt like a spear piercing right through his heart. God, Buck really didn't know, didn't allow himself to believe just how loved he was.
"How could I not think of him? Hell, Buck, how would I be able to look him in the eye if I didn't do everything - everything - to save you?"
Flashes of explosions and lightning blurred before his eyes.
Buck shook his head and tried again to pull away, but there was no strength left in him.
"I lost him," he muttered through clattering teeth, "in the water, I didn't hold on enough and I lost him."
Eddie thought Buck's wrist might break under his grip.
"You saved him, Buck. You never gave up. And neither will I. Heaven forbid I ever let go of you, Evan."
And in the chattering cold of the deadly water, amidst the creaking walls of the sinking ship, with Buck's eyes locked with his own, Eddie understood.

If you haven't read any fics by this author, do so asap. Awesome writer!
NEW FIC: Nothing Left But You
HELLO HELLO! Happy Monday! I am VERY VERY excited to share this new project with you. It's legit taken over my mind lately.
Please enjoy the first chapter of Nothing Left But You.
Summary:
In May of 2021, 25% of Earth's population suddenly disappears. Including Eddie. In May of 2026, they all come back. Eddie finds himself suddenly in the middle of a world he doesn't recognize, where the people he loves most have changed significantly.
Snippet:
Eddie opens his eyes.
The first thing he notices is that it’s sunset.
The second thing he notices is the car about to hit him.
A horn blares, the car screeches, brakes slammed, as Eddie throws himself out of its path.
“Oh my god,” the driver says, rolling down their window. “Are you okay?”
Eddie lays panting on the asphalt, blood trickling from a scrape on his arm.
“I’m good,” Eddie mumbles, then rolls over gracelessly, and pushes himself up to his feet.
“You, like, materialized !” The driver marvels.
He turns to look at them.
A young adult, maybe even a teenager.
“Holy fuck, did you un-blip? Are people un-blipping?”

Almost ten years ago, someone left a review for one of my fanfics. I replied as I usually do. This one exchange led to messages, phone calls, funnily enough only one meeting because we lived in opposite parts of the country. Today, after nearly 10 years of long distance friendships, sharing the ups and down of life, I'm a guest at her wedding.
Don't ever think that authors don't care about your reviews. Don't ever think your replies, however short, are useless.
You matter more than you think.

If you’re still doing the prompts, could I ask for 22? in a rush of adrenaline for Buddie?
thank you, and sorry it took so long! :D
-
For one wild instant after Eddie grabs him—bruising, frantic, the world all still too loud and too fast and too suddenly bright as the building comes down behind them, scattering pulverized concrete in their wake—Buck genuinely thinks that he's about to get punched.
Eddie would never. Eddie would never. But he's holding Buck's arm tight enough to hurt, and there's blood on his face and his eyes are wild as he yanks them both across the street in a dozen stumbling steps and shoves Buck against the side of the engine, and there really aren't a lot of other explanations for what the hell is happening right now.
"Hey, listen," Buck says, breathless. His voice comes out croaking and raw; he breathed in smoke back there. They both did. Him more than Eddie, after that last stairwell came down, cutting him off from the entrance for a few disorienting, gut-churning minutes before he stumbled out a side entrance and into Eddie and Bobby's arms. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, okay."
"Shut up," Eddie snaps, loosening his grip on Buck's arm. His eyes are red. His voice is hoarse, too. Buck remembers him screaming his name through the smoke-roiled darkness, an instant before the stairs came down. "Shut up."
"Okay, okay," Buck says, and lets his hands drop. Then lifts them again, thumping his palms against Eddie's shoulders and letting them linger there. Even through his turnouts, Buck can feel him shaking. "Eddie, hey. Come on. I'm okay. Barely even bruised."
"Just—" Eddie bites off the end of the word, shakes his head, then shoves at Buck's shoulders again, moving closer. And then his hands are on Buck's cheeks, dragging him down, and his mouth is hot, and—oh. Oh.
Eddie tastes like smoke; they both do. His cheeks are rough and grimy; there's a sharp sting where Buck must have split or bitten his lower lip. It's not a good kiss, not really, except for how it might actually be the best kiss he's ever had.
It lasts just barely long enough for Buck to start kissing back, and then Eddie is retreating. His hands are still on Buck's cheeks. Buck makes a noise of protest and chases his mouth, and Eddie kisses him again, softer. Then he pulls away again. Buck stares at him, and he stares back, and for a moment the entire world feels very distant.
Then there are footsteps on the pavement behind him and a deep, deep sigh, and reality percolates back in: specifically, the reality that they still are very much at an active scene.
Eddie winces slightly, lets go of Buck, takes a step back, and turns.
"Hey, Cap," he says, scrubbing a hand over the back of his neck.
"Hi," Bobby says patiently. Behind him, the 136 has their ladder up; he can see someone—probably Stover—controlling the hose to put out the last of the burn. Beyond that, Hen and Chim are checking over the last handful of security staff that Bobby and Eddie must have escorted out while Buck was trying not to die in a ceiling collapse. None of it seems especially dire anymore.
Other than the fact that Bobby is here, and definitely saw… all of that.
"Uh, hi, Bobby," Buck says, with what is probably not nearly as winning a smile as he's trying for.
"You know, Buck, I'm pretty sure I have the section in our handbook on maintaining professionalism on scenes still bookmarked from when you were a probie," Bobby says in tones of deep exasperation. His mouth is twitching, though.
"That's on me, Cap," Eddie says solemnly.
"Hey, no, I was definitely—"
Bobby gestures sharply, and Buck shuts up.
"You have two minutes," he says, "and then I expect you both to go get yourselves checked out. And we're going to talk about this back at the station. Understood?"
Eddie straightens his shoulders like he's still in Basic. He used to do that all the time; now it's only when he thinks he might be in serious trouble. "Understood."
"So, uh, so how much trouble are we actually in?" Buck blurts.
"I said we'll discuss it at the station, Buck," Bobby repeats dryly, but he's definitely laughing at them now. "One minute. Then go let Hen check you over, or you really will be in trouble. And kid? I'm very glad you're okay."
He pointedly turns his back and walks away, so Buck doesn't protest that that was more like fifteen seconds than a whole minute. He's got Eddie to focus on instead: his smoke-stained face, soft brown eyes, the sheepish, lovely mouth that Buck was just kissing.
"Sorry," Eddie says, after a moment. "I didn't actually plan to do that."
"Yeah, well. Been a long time coming, right?"
He worries, in the instant after he's said it, that he's got this all wrong. That this—whatever it is—was just adrenaline for Eddie, just relief, just some weird, fleeting impulse and nothing more.
But Eddie laughs, ducking his head, rubbing a hand over the back of his neck. When he looks back at Buck, his eyes are bright. He's blushing, visible even under the soot.
"Yeah," he says. "Yeah, it really has."

Yes!!! Ngl, I loved all the speculations after the promo aired, the excitement.... but we could've had it just as well after the episode. I only joined the fandom after the sniper arc so I had all the spoilers but I'm sure no one saw the shooting coming? I can only imagine how shocking that must have been and how anxious everyone was for a whole week.
Lately, so many scenes were spoiled that would've had such a bigger impact. Action scenes like the lightning, sure, but I'm also thinking of Eddie's breakdown and Buck being in the room. Eddie's "Do more!" in the hospital. I remember a post here saying that many were disappointed about the lack of Eddie after the lightning but that was just because we'd seen most scenes before the episode even aired and that OP was right.
Maybe FOX was just worried that nobody would watch it if they didn't give us these breadcrumbs loads of bread right away?
I really hope that when 911 starts airing on ABC, the network does a better job of advertising the show. All of last season I stopped watching the promos because they basically gave away the entire episode.
Im still mad they revealed the lighting strike and Buck being injured in the promo because it took away the shock value (no pun intended) when it actually happened.
Like the infamous Buck sleeping on Eddie’s couch was never in any of the promos, we where caught off guard and we fully got to experience that moment. The shock value of that scene was amazing and really paid off in us enjoying the episode more.

in all seriousness though i think ABC should make Buddie go canon purely as a marketing strategy like they would 100% have the audience’s loyalty forever and virtually outdo Fox in one swept move, look like allies, raise their ratings… it’d be brilliant from a PR pov alone

“Well, I survived a lightning strike.” Eddie's laughter froze on his lips. Across the table, Bobby turned rigid. “Do you really wanna measure this, Buck? Here, against us?” Chimney looked around, and his grin faded immediately. “I mean, talk about surviving...” He left the rest unspoken. The scar beneath Eddie's right collarbone flared up in a way it hadn't for months. “I still can't believe you did that,” Natalia said. “That's so cool.”
--
Eddie confronts Buck, has a realization in the middle of an argument, and just when he thinks it can't get worse, he gets a call from Texas that pulls the ground from beneath his feet, figuratively spoken. (The universe is watching. If the two firefighters don't get their act together, the next collapse will be the literal kind.)
