People assume that being a magical girl is all about sparkles and moon beams and romance, but the thing that the masses miss about the power fantasy behind magical girls is that almost every single protagonist is a HUGE jock
“All magical girls are clumsy and personality-less”
Actually, all magical girls are RIPPED, little girls dream of physically dunking on you while looking cute doing it, and we SUPPORT
Out of the Wonderlandians, Lizzie’s definitely the Mom Friend™️. But, not just any Mom Friend™️, but a HAWK mom friend. Like, she would make sure her mad band of dumbasses is comfortable and ok and if ANYONE messes with them, she won't HESITATE to hurt someone, and probably yell “OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!” let’s be honest.
Y’know what’s ANOTHER thing that’s highly underrated that disappeared with time?
Lego Elves was a line of legos that released in/around 2015 that had a web series, with changing animation styles, and a legit Netflix original series named Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale. The basic story of the franchise centers around this girl named Emily who finds a secret portal in her backyard to a magical world named Elvendale. After going through, Emily met 4 other elves, which are the other main characters. Depending on the piece of media in the franchise, this basic story got expanded such as our main characters having to save Elvendale from a threat. There were also 3 animated mini movies to go along with the webisodes that were in the first animation style.
First off, the designs for the characters and the world is GOREGEOUS! It really helps suck you into the world. Oh, there’s also MAGIC which is lit.
ALRIGHT SO THE NETFLIX SHOW.....................
The Netfix series is....... a trip and I love it. It’s animated by the same studio that did Legend of Korra, which is cool. The story is basically Emily’s little sister Sophie finds the portal, goes through, and shenanigans ensue. It’s pretty good in my opinion. It’s only 8 episodes, so it’s an easy watch. If you want to give it a watch, cool. If you don’t, that's fine. You do you
ACOTAR THINK PIECE: ELAIN AND THE CONCEPT OF CHOICE
Please take the time to read this post in its entirety and truly reflect on the message I am trying to send before commenting. My goal is to use my background in Gender and Women’s Studies to deconstruct the behaviors and comments I have seen on Tumblr and Twitter, and, more importantly, bring awareness to the ACOTAR fandom. I WILL NOT tolerate anyone who tries to twist my words and say I am attacking people and their personal shipping preferences. In fact, I AM CRITIQUING THE ARGUMENTS THEMSELVES NOT THE PEOPLE USING THE ARGUMENTS.
For my 3D production class I had to create a three shot short that was a remake of an existing movie scene- with muppets. I ran out of time to do the particle water effects, but this is basically Pacific Rim anyway.
Y'know what weird thing that faded into obscurity that's really underrated?
Disney's Star Darlings
It's a webseries type thing that Disney released in 2015/2016 that also had a book series to go with it and, ngl, it was pretty cool. It's about these 12 girls from a planet called Starland in which they're in training to become wish granters. Long story short, their home is dying and the headmistress of the school they go to gathers the 12 girls to help save their home. Each of the 12 girls are inspired by each of the zodiac signs, which is SO COOL!!!!!. They also released 3 songs WHICH ARE ABSOLUTE BANGERS! The characters are pretty unique and the designs of the world and the characters are TOP TIER!! Yeah, the dialogue can be a bit cheesy and a little cringy at times, but I feel like that's part of the charm of the show.
All in all, Star Darlings is a really fun watch that is extremely underrated.
If anyone wants to give it a watch, which I recommend, it's all on Disney's youtube channel. Look up "disney star darlings" and it'll pop up.
One of the things that makes Descendants worse than Ever After High is that they only have ONE character based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The one that they have, Ally, is pretty lackluster in my opinion. But, in EAH, there’s a whole group of characters that are children of characters from those stories. Allistar, Kitty, Lizzie, Maddie, and Bunny are each unique and interesting characters that are very fun to watch. I MEAN!! CMON! ITS FREE REAL ESTATE!
Also, I’m still bitter that the genius masterpiece that is Ever After High got cancelled because of Descendants
Imagine the Inner Circle of ACOTAR went to the world of Etheria and met the Best Friend Squad and the Princess Alliance of She Ra.
I feel like some ic members and best friend/ Princess squad members are pretty similar ( such as Catra and Nesta, and Perfuma and Elain)
The two universes are extremely different and unique and I think it would be really cool to see how the IC and the high fantasy world of Prythian would interact with the futuristic, high tech planet of Etheria.
Here’s how I think it’ll go down:
The IC could find a way to winnow to Etheria and after some time, would meet the Princess Alliance/ the Best Friend Squad
Percy Jackson X Monster High crossover. LEMME EXPLAIN!
Maybe Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Clarisse would find a way to somehow get to the Monster High universe and SHENANIGANS ENSUE.
All of them would be pretty confused, Percy would want to explore with Grover( Annabeth’ll stop them from being idiots), Annabeth would be pretty intrigued on how monster society works, and Clarisse would, I dunno, threaten anyone who comes near percy, Grover, and Annabeth??? Idk
No one would find out, EXCEPT LAGOONA AND GHOULIA. Lagoona would sense something’s of about them, and have a possible water connection to Percy, and Ghoulia just would know because she’s ghoulia and a QUEEN
