Stubborn Pride in Triplicate (73)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
The next morning, Finna sat at the end of the banquet table and ate breakfast while speaking to her sisters and brothers.
“My Queen,” the Keeper of the Records knelt at her side. “May we begin itemizing your coronation gifts?”
She nodded before wiping her fingers onto a napkin. “Please.”
Thor and Jane arrived and took their seats as he looked toward her. “I cannot believe you are awake and functioning after last night’s festivities.”
“She hasn’t slept yet,” Fandral informed him. “I’m expecting her to fall asleep on Hliðskjálf as soon as her bum touches it!”
“That’s my Finna!” Ragnar raised his glass to her.
“Some things are more important than sleep,” she nodded as everyone shared a laugh.
“From Eitri of Nidavellir, the Tarnhelm,” the Keeper presented her.
“I thought it a fable,” her eyes widened as she took it from him.
“Well? Try it!” Elin goaded her.
She slowly placed the helmet onto her head before she disappeared entirely.
“Are they sure it’s wise to give her such toys?” Hogun smirked.
“Ooh! Fun!” her laughter echoed throughout the hall.
Sif walked into the hall and looked around. “Where’s… Ah!” she jumped as she felt a swat to her backside.
Everyone laughed at her expense as Finna appeared behind her. “I like this one!” she handed the helmet back to the Keeper. He nodded while making notes on a golden tablet.
She hugged and kissed Sif on the cheek as they walked to the table.
“Glad I could entertain The Queen this morning,” she rolled her eyes.
“From Freyja, the Brisingmen,” the Keeper presented her with a necklace.
“The Fire Necklace?” Thor cocked his eyebrow.
“It’s beautiful,” Finna ran her fingers across it. “Please invite her for tea at her earliest convenience.”
“The Keeper nodded.
“My Queen,” an attendant bowed in front of her. “Freyr of Alfheim is here to present his gift to you.”
She nodded her head before turning to Thor and widening her eyes. He only smiled in return.
“My Queen,” the ruler of the Light Elves, twin brother to Freyja, and fellow Van, bowed to her.
“My Lord,” she nodded to him.
“A gift for your coronation, may I present Fragarach,” he placed a sword across her lap.
She gasped as she took the weapon from him. “The Sword of Air,” she whispered. “I am honored.”
Volstagg raised his eyebrows and turned to Leif.
“Vanirian. No armor can stop it.”
“It grants its wielder command over the powers of wind,” Freyr smiled.
Finna met his eyes as he nodded. She lifted the sword and grinned as the winds picked up, nearly blowing the banquet food right off the table.
“She is having too much fun!” Sif laughed.
“Thank you,” Finna handed the sword to The Keeper.
Freyr bowed before taking his leave.
“From Ullr of Ydalir, Ichaival,” the Keeper buzzed around, not stopping a moment.
“That, I’ve seen in action!” Thor pointed to the bow. “For every one arrow you shoot, it releases ten!”
“Why do you get all the good stuff?” Fandral pouted.
“I can share,” she smirked.
“Right,” everyone sang.
“My Queen, Surtur of Muspelheim is here to present a gift.”
Her eyes immediately shot to Thor. “Is it normal for the Fire Demons to request an audience?”
“No,” he answered plainly as everyone rose to their feet.
“My Queen,” he bowed at her feet. “Congratulations on your coronation. As a token of my great joy in your rule, may I present you with Melrakki,” he held his hand out, moving her gaze to the outdoors.
Finna watched him for a moment before walking out to the balcony to see a magnificent white dragon sitting in the courtyard of Valaskjálf. Her eyes widened as the scaly creature bowed to her. “I can hear her thoughts,” she mumbled.
“When word reached us of your ascension to the throne, Melrakki offered herself as a gift. She believes she can serve you well,” Surtur offered.
“I am honored,” she nodded down at the dragon. “Thank you.”
He bowed to her before taking his leave, everyone in the room allowing an audible sigh to leave their chest.
“Wow,” Thor spoke slowly as he looked down at the amazing creature.
“She’s quite intelligent,” Finna smiled. “And funny.”
“Are you sure Asgard is ready for a Royal Dragon?” Balder asked from beside her.
“She’s here whether Asgard is ready or not,” she turned on her heel. “Please show Melrakki to Fensalir and let her choose one of the banquet halls to call home.”
“My Queen,” one of the attendants bowed as The Keeper kept diligent notes.
“My Queen,” another attendant bowed. “Gullveig of Vanaheim…”
She broke into a huge grin as she ran up and threw her arms around her. “Gullveig! How are you?”
“So proud to see you on the throne of Asgard!” she laughed.
“Thank you, my friend!”
“I come bearing a gift,” she presented her with an item of clothing. “It is the Falcon Cloak. It transforms whomever wields it into a falcon and bestows the gift of flight.”
“That is amazing! Thank you!”
“Vanaheim believes in our queen. Do not hesitate to use me in any way you need.”
She nodded silently. “I’m humbled and honored.”
She kissed her forehead before taking her leave.
Odin appeared as if from nowhere and looked around. “Good morning, everyone! I trust you all slept well?” he chuckled.
Finna glanced over at Thor, who suddenly stiffened up and stood at his full height.
“Some of us have yet to slumber,” Volstagg raised his glass.
Finna flicked her fingers out, freezing everyone in the hall except Thor and Odin. Loki smirked arrogantly as he turned into his normal form and glared down at her. “You just couldn’t help yourself, could you?”
Thor stood there, staring as his mind tried desperately to take in this new information. “You’re still not dead?”
“Wow,” he laughed. “It’s great to see you too, brother.”
He turned his gaze to Finna. “And you knew?” he shook his head. “You had to have known.”
“I had my suspicions,” she explained. “I knew he was an imposter…”
“We’ve lost our connection,” Loki sighed painfully. “Nothing between us has been the same since our annulment.”
“That was completely your doing, you know,” Thor snipped.
“I do know,” he locked eyes with him. “I’d like to make amends.”
“Excuse me?” he laughed incredulously. “No.”
“And just why not?”
“She thought you dead!” he angered. “The first time was bad enough, but this time… she put herself through hell, Loki,” he slowly locked eyes with her.
“That’s why I need to be here, to help her heal.”
“She is mine now; I will attend to her emotional needs.”
“I deserve to see my wife and son!”
“My son!” his voice echoed throughout the hall.
Loki turned away and set his jaw as Finna watched quietly.
“She will never love you again,” he nodded before spinning on his heel and walking off.
“Well…” Finna cleared her throat. “There you have it.”
“He speaks for you now?”
“No, but it was quite entertaining. He speaks from a place of pride, though. I belong to no man.”
His eyes misted over. “And where does that leave me?”
“I’m not sure… Svartalfheim maybe?” she knew what she said had cut him right through to the core, but she had to do it. He had to realize just how deeply he had hurt her.
She waved her hand, forcing him back into Odin’s form before once again flicking her fingers and unfreezing everyone.
“Where’s Thor?” Jane looked around.
“Oh… he’s checking on the children,” she smiled.

The Queen's First Decree (72)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
As the ceremony broke up, Finna turned to meet the eyes of the love of her life. She then turned out to glare at the one human looking back at her.
“She will never in her life get to witness anything as magical and spectacular as an Asgardian coronation. I had to invite her.” he kissed her. “It was brilliant, by the way!”
“Thank you,” she blushed.
“You look… like a queen,” he grinned.
“Stop, seriously,” she growled.
“My Queen,” Fandral bowed to her.
“Not you too!” she hissed.
“Get used to it,” Sif called out. Finna turned around to see her, Volstagg, and Hogun all bowed.
She let out a breath as she nodded her head. “Fine. Bow away.”
“My Queen, you need time to rest before the celebration,” Jora bowed to her.
“Ah yes,” she turned to Thor. “The adjustment period. I need to go and pick Father’s brain about all the neat new things going on in my head.”
Thor frowned as he glanced up at Odin. “How are you feeling, Father?”
“Like an old man,” he answered wearily.
“I’ll talk to you again at the feast,” Finna patted his arm.
“Finn,” he pulled her aside. “Be careful.”
She followed his gaze to Odin. “I cannot hear his thoughts,” she whispered.
“He is not himself, watch yourself.”
She turned back to him. “I will.”
He smiled before nodding and letting her go.
.
She followed Odin into his study where Einherjar took the spear from her and locked the doors. She relaxed as she used her magic to change into a white gown with a gold armored bustier. “Much better.”
“You looked absolutely beautiful today,” he watched her.
She frowned as she walked toward the reading table in the middle of the room. She was silent for a moment before speaking. “How did you do it?”
“Do what?”
She looked up slowly. “How did you give me Odin’s powers, when they’re not yours to give?”
He slowly broke into a wide grin. “The Vala did their job, they gave you what you asked for.”
“None of this is what I asked for.”
“I told you, Finna. I’ve made you the queen you deserve to be,” green energy flowed around him as he finally transformed back into himself.
She stared at him, speechless.
“Say something.”
Her eyes began to glow green as she raised her hand and blasted him with a bolt of white energy. “You are… incapable of telling the truth, aren’t you?!”
He held his chest, as he lay on the floor. “That’s not quite what I was expecting.”
“I can’t believe this!” she angered. “How?!”
He slowly pushed up to stand. “I was injured on Svartlheim, however… it wasn’t quite as grave as everyone thought.”
“And the Allfather?”
“Alive and well in Nornheim, held captive by Queen Karnilla in exchange for your expedited healing and ascension to the throne.”
“And what happens when he returns?”
“What can he do? You’re Queen, you have his powers!” he brushed his fingers across her cheek. “He will never hurt you again!”
“Every time you do something to help, it falls apart!” she again blasted him with a bolt of white energy from her hand, sending him across the room and into the wall with a thud.
He whimpered and grunted while pushing his way back up to his feet. “You’re welcome.”
“Do you ever think things through? Will you ever have an escape plan?”
“I don’t need to this time, there’s no way to possibly go wrong with this.”
“You are so bloody arrogant!” she hissed before moving her arm and sending him across the room, into another wall.
He reached up to his lip and felt the cut that had formed, studying the blood on his fingertips. “You still love me.”
“I mourned you! You were dead!”
“Just stop,” he crawled towards her. “I’m here, Finn. You need mourn no longer.”
She looked down into his eyes.
“I can’t trust you,” her lip trembled. “I told you from the beginning, if you ever lied to me…”
“I know, my love. I am so, so sorry,” he reached for her hands. “I know I’m the cause for so much of your pain, and it guts me. I can’t stand to see tears in your eyes, I’m completely to fault for them being there right now. You know me better than anyone, you know what’s in my heart. Everything I’ve done, has been for you.”
“Loki,” she looked away.
“Please forgive me,” he whispered.
“I cannot,” she stepped away.
“I meant what I said, the day I left for the Dark World,” he pushed up to his feet. “A world without your trust isn’t one I want to be a part of.”
“You’ve already died twice though, aye?”
He dropped his shoulders. “What can I do?”
She walked out to look over the balcony. “Nothing.”
“Name it, and I’ll do it.”
“I want nothing more from you,” she crossed her arms.
“Finna,” he placed his hands on her shoulders. “Please,” he begged. “Why can’t you believe that I did what I had to in order to save your life?!”
“You say you know me, but you know nothing,” she huffed. “I am not afraid of death, I welcome it; and I would have rather been dead than spend one second not being your wife.” She placed her hand atop his and leaned her cheek against them. She slowly turned her head and brought her sad, tear-filled eyes up to his.
In a flash, he had her in his arms, his lips pressed against hers. They pulled away only a moment to catch their breath, which gave her time to gather her thoughts and push away.
“I’m supposed to be in here, right now, seeking council with the Allfather; asking him questions about the new powers and abilities of his I just gained.”
“I grew up with him; I’ll answer any question you have.”
“You have an answer for everything, don’t you?” she rolled her eyes. “Then tell me, how is this supposed to end?”
“What?”
“You made me Queen while pretending to be the retired King. Where do you go now, how does this end?”
He watched her silently.
“You never change,” she shook her head sadly.
“We’ll make it work.”
“What, with you to my right and Thor on my left?”
“Do you love him?” he asked quickly.
She searched his eyes. “I do.”
He took a step back and leaned against the wall. “Well now, that complicates things.”
“That does?” she threw her head back in laughter. “None of this other stuff is a bother, but my being with another man is what complicates it?”
He smiled as he realized what she was saying.
She raised her hand to her head and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
“Are you alright?” he was by her side in an instant.
“I can hear the thoughts of everyone in the city. It’s a bit overwhelming.”
“Well you can turn off Thor, he’s basically a barbarian.”
She burst into a grin. “I’ve missed you.”
“And I you, my darling,” he sat her down on a bench, wrapping his arms around her. “You’re right, I didn’t think this completely through. Perhaps we should travel to Nornheim and you can speak to Odin himself.”
“Would you be willing to aid me if you were he?”
“Trust me, he may never want to leave. Karnilla has him locked up with a dozen or so women, it’s been a nonstop orgy since I left him there.”
She raised her eyebrows. “I’d volunteer to be imprisoned again if it was like that.”
“Wouldn’t we all?”
She placed her hand on his knee and rested her cheek against his shoulder. “I’ve told Alrekk that you died honorably.”
“He need not know anything further.”
“You shouldn’t play on the emotions of your loved ones.”
“It is what I’m good at, though.”
She closed her eyes and smiled. “That is not all you’re good at.”
He let a low rumble escape his chest as he lurched toward her.
Finna closed her eyes and shook her head as all of the feelings she had for him returned. Once again, no matter how wrong a relationship would be, in their souls… it felt right. “Why can’t I say no to you?”
“Ancient magic brought us together, remember? We’ve never been in control of it.”
“Finna?” Grimm called from the door.
“Yes Da?” she asked in her mind.
“Are you feeling alright? Thor mentioned that you may be overwhelmed by Odin’s powers.”
“I am fine. I’m trying to get used to my new abilities.”
“Which are?”
“Lengthy,” she giggled. “I’ll be ready to proceed to the feast soon.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
She looked up into Loki’s eyes and took his hands. He smiled for a moment as her eyes glowed bright green. “Finn?”
“If you’re telling the truth, you won’t mind if I take a look.”
“Finna…”
“Relax,” she looked deeply into his eyes and began to read his thoughts and memories. She went through the events of the past few days as he portrayed the role of Odin, his stolen glances at her and preparations made for her coronation. She then went back to Nornheim when he imprisoned his father, and slept with Queen Karnilla.
She went through everything he did, seeing her lost in the Darkness yet again, portraying the role as Einherjar, and back to the Dark World. She saw the fight that took place, and their trickery of the Dark Elves.
His memories began to flash by faster as she went all the way back to their annulment, the last time they made love, her thoughts in his mind while she was away, the birth of their son, the battle on Earth, his capture at the hands of The Titan.
She went all the way back past their wedding, to the moment they met. As she brought herself back from his mind, he closed his eyes and reached for the back of the bench as she caught her breath.
They were both quiet for a long moment.
Loki cleared his throat. “You know everything now.”
“I do,” she watched him.
“And?”
“You lie just as much as you tell the truth.”
He frowned as he watched her.
“So you really did expect me just to… melt into a puddle when you revealed yourself today?”
“Um…”
“How little do you think of me?”
“I…”
“You are amazing,” she rose to her feet. “You gave up on us, on me. You lied to everyone and caused our marriage to be removed from the annals of history. You broke my heart so thoroughly that the Gods removed their curse on me and revoked my claim to you… and you expect me to fall all over you?”
“Finna…”
She waved her hand, causing him to shift back into Odin’s likeness. “I have Nine Realms to oversee. I don’t have time for your shenanigans.”
“You are mine!” he found his voice.
“I am Queen,” she raised her voice. “I belong to no man!”
He stood speechless as she walked off and opened the doors.

The Transference of Power (71)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Finna stared at her reflection in the mirror as all four of her handmaidens worked on tightening the corset of her magnificent cobalt gown. Blue was the color she chose for her rule, after all, and today she was going to be made Queen of Asgard. She suddenly lost her breath and reached for her chest.
“Air!” she squealed.
“Sorry!” Katla winced before pulling the strings of her corset to give her room to breathe.
She reached for a drink of mead as they then worked on attaching her ceremonial armor, layer by layer. First, the thin leather brigandine. Next came the cuirass, which connected to another plate on her back. On her left shoulder, because it was the arm she held her weapon in a majority of the time, there was a spaulder attached to a rerebrace to protect her upper arm. Her elbow was left alone, but a formal bracer was attached to her forearm with the design of the House of Dýrfinna on it: A design that incorporated both the wolf of Loki’s ceremonial armor, and the dragons of Vanaheim she loved as s child.
On her right shoulder the handmaidens attached a pauldron, which covered her entire shoulder, as well as another rerebrace to protect her upper arm. They then attached another bracer before reaching for the edge of her skirt.
“I am so glad I don’t have to fight in this,” she mumbled as her eldest brother’s chuckle betrayed his arrival.
“Heavy darling?”
“And they wonder why we fight in leather!” she threw her arms out in exasperation. “This is ridiculous!”
“It’s not every day you attend your coronation,” he dipped down to kiss her cheek.
“Be careful, you may tip me over!” she thrust her boot-covered leg out so that the handmaidens could attach the greave.
“Be thankful you don’t wear a codpiece.”
“Why, afraid mine would be bigger than yours?” she shot back.
He threw his head back in laughter and fell onto the bed. “Most definitely, my sister!”
She returned to look at herself in the mirror and sighed. “Well ladies, you did the best you could.”
“You look beautiful, My Queen,” Jora touched up the braids in her hair.
“But do I look fierce?” she bit her lip.
“You look like a force to be reckoned with, if provoked,” Ragnar propped his head up with his hand and watched her. “My feisty redheaded sister.”
“Don’t you have somewhere you need to be?” she glanced up at him.
“I need to get dressed too,” he smirked.
“Perhaps you should expedite that task?” she glanced up as her ladies giggled. “I am ready to begin my procession.”
“Off with you,” he shooed her away.
“Fine. I’ll see you in a bit. I’ll be the one all the fuss is about.”
“I can’t wait,” he grinned.
She stepped out of her chamber to find an entire legion of Valkyries waiting on her. “My Queen,” Brynhildr bowed as her women followed. “We would like the honor of escorting you to Valaskjálf for your coronation.”
“I would be honored!” she nodded.
She rose and nodded to her commanders as they all slammed the ends of their spears onto the stone of the floor, the sound resonating like music to the warrior in her. A grin devoured her face as they took off as a unit, toward the gardens that were between Fensalir and Valaskjálf.
.
Odin took his place in front of Hliðskjálf and slammed Gungnir against the floor, signaling the beginning of the procession. Slowly, everyone began to take their places: the Twelve Judges and their families, the clerks from the Hall of Records, the healers from the Hall of Healers, family members of the Royal Family, Einherjar, Captains of the Herd, and dignitaries from the other Realms.
Sif, Hogun, Fandral and Volstagg took their places at the right of the throne, to the left of Odin, as the new queen’s trusted advisors. And then… Thor arrived, escorting his beautiful mortal to the applause of everyone in the audience. He left Jane next to Finna’s handmaidens before taking his place at the left of the throne, to the right of Odin along with Baldr.
Odin stared at him for a moment before turning his eye back to the door.
The sound of marching feet alerted them to the arrival of the Valkyries, who entered as a unit, in formation. They took their place behind the Einherjar and rested as everyone turned to the doorway and waited.
There, with her head held high, was their new queen.
Thor glanced up at his father to find that he was mesmerized by Finna. He frowned as something in his gut began to churn. He had never seen his father look at Finna like that before; so much love, adoration, and dare he say… lust.
He cleared his throat, catching his father’s attention as Odin snapped out of his daze. He nodded to his son and smiled, seemingly pleased that he had shown up for the day’s celebration.
As Finna finished her journey and stopped at the bottom of the stairs, Odin slammed his spear on the stone tiles to signal the beginning of the ceremony. She knelt down on her knee, lowered her head, and waited.
“Dýrfinna Odinsdottir, my only daughter. Even though your right to this throne comes only through your adoption into the House of Odin, you have proven time and time again your dedication and loyalty to Asgard and the Nine Realms. I have defended Asgard, and the lives of the innocent across my Realms in the time of the great beginning, and as a warrior, I know you will defend them with your last breath.”
She blinked her eyes and swallowed, reminding herself that this man was not Odin, but some imposter who seemed to have been awfully well informed. There was one part of the ceremony, however, that he was going to be unable to perform without the true Allfather, and she was waiting for the perfect time to flush him out.
“Do you swear to guard the Nine Realms?”
“I swear!”
“And do you swear to preserve the peace?”
“I swear!”
“Do you swear to pledge yourself only to the good of the realms?”
“I swear!”
“On this day, I Odin, Son of Bor, All-Father, will proclaim you Queen Dýrfinna of Asgard and Protectress of the Nine Realms!” he slammed his spear down for the last time.
She rose to her feet and ascended the stairs where she looked him in the eye. They were surrounded by nine Vala who circled around them and held hands. They began to chant as bright blue energy began to circle around him. He passed it on to Gungir and then held it out for her.
She frowned as she stared at the spear. She was so sure… Slowly, she placed her hands on the spear and closed her eyes as the Vala once again began to chant. The last thing she remembered was a hot, searing pain entering her body and flooding her senses. As she opened her eyes, Odin looked down at her intensely.
“Breathe,” he whispered.
She took a breath as the entire congregation began to applaud the transfer of power.
It worked. She had no idea how the imposter had accomplished the feat, but it worked. She could feel the power coursing through her veins. She could hear the thoughts of everyone around her without trying. She could feel the ravens flying circles over the palace… she was Queen.
She took another breath to steady herself before turning to look over her subjects. Then, just as they discussed, she slammed the great spear down onto the stone tile; the resonance echoing throughout all of Asgard.
“Hail Queen Dýrfinna!”

Mistrust of the Highest (70)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Finna took supper with Odin as his advisers went over the coronation with them. They spoke about her procession from Fensalir to Valaskjálf, the placement of the members of her family, even her children.
“Are you sure you want your children there?” Odin took a drink of mead.
“Of course I do,” she watched him. “Alrekk’s old enough to remember this, and I want the babies to feel what it is like surrounded by friends and family. Good energy is underrated,” she popped a berry into her mouth.
“Fine then,” he nodded.
“The eldest of the Vala will surround the both of you and recite an incantation that will release Odin’s powers into Gungir. Odin will then present Gungir to Dýrfinna. Another incantation will be recited and she will receive the powers of Odin.”
Finna turned to Odin. “What then?”
“How do you mean?”
“That’s it? You retire to Glaðsheimr and live out your days as an old man?”
“Dear Finna, I will live out my days as your loyal subject and be happy; so long as I have breath in my lungs and enough power in my hands to decide my own fate.”
She froze as the breath caught in her throat.
“What is it?”
A chill ran down her spine alerting her to the fact that something, everything about this had been off. “It has been a long day, Father,” she took a long sip from her cup.
“Perhaps you should turn in,” he watched her carefully.
She stared at her cup for a moment, summoning up the courage she had been searching for. “May I ask a question?”
He paused for a moment. “Go on.”
“Why did you do it?”
“Do what?”
She slowly looked up at him. “Send the Norn Witch to Alfheim to attack me in the midst of battle?”
He watched her, silently.
“And later, to command her yet again to pull me in the Darkness when you assumed I had aided in Loki’s escape from the dungeons?”
“I’m the Allfather, I don’t need to explain myself to you.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Yet you’re relinquishing your powers to me in just two days? You’re either quite brave… or quite stupid, Father.”
Loki had to work very hard not to smile at her. His beautiful woman was extremely bright, that was sure. “I have a reason for everything I do.”
“Why are you being so cryptic? Can you not just give me a straight answer?”
“You don’t need to know.”
“I deserve to know!” she angered. “You have absolutely no idea what it’s like, to be stuck in the Darkness! To see visions, alternate realities of what could be! To see the death of your loved ones, your babies ripped into pieces in front of you; and never knowing if it is real!”
“Finna…”
“I can’t tell you how many times I died there, by Loki’s hand, your hand, Thor’s hand… and my own!”
“It’s made you stronger, has it not?”
She slowly rose to her feet and stared him down. “You… are a horrible father,” she hissed before walking off.
Loki sat back and let out the breath he was holding. Keeping the form of Odin was becoming increasingly harder in front of her. Especially since she had just had the conversation that he himself should have had with his father years ago.
He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath, wondering just how much longer he could keep lying to her.
Finna stormed out into the courtyard and let out the breath she was holding. Looking up at the moon, she collapsed into a pile of her skirts before closing her eyes.
Where was Odin, and who was the imposter acting as him?

Trauma Which Cannot Be Ignored (69)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
“Alright, let’s get down to business,” the Keeper of the Records conducted the council meeting. “Queen Dýrfinna has the right to keep the current council intact, or change it at her discretion. There will need to be much reorder of the Herd, however, since both King Odin and Prince Thor have left us.”
“Let’s begin with the reorganization of the Herd,” she spoke up. It was what she knew the most about.
“You are now Commander in Chief of the Asgardian Herd, which leaves the Raven Battalion without a Deputy Commander.”
She turned to Sif. “Are any of our captains ready for promotion?”
“A few, my Queen,” she smiled.
She rubbed her finger across the bottom of her lip before glancing at her friends. “It seems as though I’m in need of a Commander as well; one who answers to me and can lead when I cannot.”
She looked around the table until her eyes landed on Tyr. “Earl Tyr.”
“Yes my Queen?”
“Begin training your replacement. You are now Deputy Commander of Wolf Battalion.”
“Thank you,” he bowed to her as Fandral grinned.
“Nice choice,” Hogun whispered as Sif nodded.
“Lady Sif, you will need to train replacements for both battalions of the Shieldmaiden Regiment before ascending to your place as Commander of the Asgardian Herd.”
The judges at the table gasped as the Warriors Three rose to congratulate their mate.
“A woman has never been in command!”
Finna turned her eyes upon the men. “Then I say it’s about time,” she purred.
“Prince Balder is the logical choice!”
She turned to Balder and raised her eyebrows.
“I am perfectly fine taking orders from Commander Sif.”
Odin sat at the other end of the table and chuckled.
“What of the Twelve Judges?” the Keeper asked as to keep the meeting flowing smoothly.
She eyed each of them for a moment. “Odin has entrusted you with the operations of Asgard, and in turn I shall trust you,” she leaned up over the table. “But I shall make one thing very clear. Betray me, and I will banish you to realms unfit to inhabit the lowest of life forms.”
Grumbling was heard as one by one, each of the Judges bowed to her.
She turned to see Odin, watching her with a huge grin in his face. She then looked down at the table for a moment before rising to her feet.
“My Queen!” the Keeper quickly bowed. “We are not yet…”
“I’m afraid I have another meeting to attend, Sir Keeper. We shall adjourn until tomorrow,” she nodded her head as every bowed to her.
Balder glanced down at the Allfather for a moment before following after her.
.
“My Queen!” her handmaidens rushed to her as soon as she walked through the doors.
Svana offered her a cloak.
“No,” she waved her away.
Jora handed her a cup of ale.
“No,” she angered.
Katla handed her a tray of grapes.
“No!” she roared as she swung her arms in front of her and threw everyone back a few feet.
“Ladies,” Balder spoke gently. “Give us a moment, please.”
“Yes, my Prince,” they bowed before walking off.
“Don’t,” Finna raised her hand to him while looking away.
“You need to address this with him or it will eat you alive.”
“Address what exactly? He’s given me the throne!”
“He tried to kill you!”
“He tortured me. There’s a difference.”
“Is there?”
She rolled her eyes and walked off to her herb room.
He pulled his jacket off before following her in and sitting on the chair looking over the balcony. “I was ready kill him myself when he commanded your torture,” he spoke honestly.
She turned to him with tears in her eyes. “I don’t believe that,” she sniffed. “You are one of the most honest, noble people I know. You’d never betray your father.”
“I would… for you,” he placed his hands on her shoulders. “You’ve been my sister in battle and in this palace. I love you as though you are my own sister, Finna. What Father did to you and Loki… I know you mourn him, Finna. I think to some degree we all do, but you will for the rest of your days.”
“I wish I could just turn it off,” she whispered as a tear fell down her cheek.
“Your capacity to love is what makes you-you,” he hugged her. “I love you.”
“Your honesty and bravery is what I love about you,” she kissed his cheek. “Thank you.”
“Call for me if you need anything.”
“I will,” she watched him walk away before turning to find Thor standing at the top of the stairs. She crossed her arms and turned around to look out at the city.
“I’m sorry, Finna.”
She glanced over her shoulder at him.
“I understand how you would have perceived this as a game. My intention was to finish things with Jane, so that you and I could move on.”
“And did you?”
“Yes.”
“We shall see. Goodnight, Thor.”
“Please… get some sleep. You look exhausted.”
“I’ll try. It’s rather difficult being a single parent to newborn twins and preparing for a coronation.”
He closed his eyes and sighed, knowing damn well that he deserved that. “Then let me stay and help you.”
“You’ve done quite enough, thank you.”
“They’re my children too.”
“So now you acknowledge them? Fantastic.”
“There’s no talking to you when you’re angry.”
“Angry?” she raised her eyebrows. “If you are so out of touch as to think this is purely anger, then we have an even bigger problem.”
“You,” he reached for her hand and pulled her close, “are in complete denial—yet at the same time are finding ways to push me away.”
“Away? Is that what you think?”
He kissed her while sliding his hands across her cheeks and into her hair. “Yes,” he whispered before nipping at her soft, pink lips. “You’re afraid our marriage will end up like the previous.”
“It already is,” she sighed. “You tell me you love me and then you leave. I won’t do it again, Thor. I can’t.”
“I told you that I would end things with Jane in my own time. Apparently, I have now done it in yours.”
“I love you,” she let slip out before she realized it, terror filling her eyes as her foggy mind caught up to her mouth.
He dug his fingers into her scalp, not allowing her to pull away. “And I you,” he kissed her again.
She finally relaxed and gave in, resting her hands on his chest and relishing the feel of his hard, smooth muscle under her touch once again.
“Please let me stay,” he rested his forehead against hers.
“I have work to do.”
He closed his eyes and tried desperately to control his body. “Damn.”
“I just need to…” she trailed off as she lost her balance.
“Woah!” he grabbed her shoulders. “When have you last slept?”
She pinched the bridge of her nose. “The night the twins were born,” She smirked.
“Come on, then,” he whipped her up into his arms and carried her to her bed where he dropped her.
She laughed as she changed from her formal gown into something a bit more comfortable. He followed by jumping onto the bed and pulling her into his arms before falling back onto the pillows.
“Now this is an excellent idea,” she rested her head on his shoulder. “We haven’t done this since—“ she caught herself.
“I know,” he placed his finger under her chin and pulled it up to look at him in the dim light of the fireplace. “Far too long.”
He brushed his thumb down her cheek before kissing her. “You really do need some sleep.”
“Tell me,” she sat up. “Does she know how much you like…”
His eyes widened as she ran her fingertip down his neck, behind his ear.
“Oooohhhh,” she leaned up to kiss him in the same spot.
He let out a gasp as he closed his eyes.
“I suppose not,” she licked her lips.
He grabbed her arms, pushing her over onto her back as he pressed his body into hers. No matter what his feelings for Jane, he had never in his entire life wanted a woman as he wanted Finna.
She sucked in an excited breath as she looked into his eyes, her body responding to the want running through her veins.
They were interrupted by a knock at the door. “Jane Foster is here for you, My Prince.”
He froze as he stared at Finna.
She raised her eyebrows and waited.
“She has brought back my things--” he began to explain.
“And?”
“I need to—“
She rolled her eyes and disappeared from the bed.
He set his jaw before glancing up at the ceiling and punching the vacant bed. “Damn it, Finna!” he growled.
.
Finna sat in Frigga’s Gardens and took in a deep breath before looking up into the night sky. Why were the men in her life always so willing to run off? Was a relationship with Thor destined to be like the one with his brother? Did she not deserve a husband whose priority was her?
Her heart beat wildly, screaming at her to go back to Thor and show the mortal what a true queen was, but her head was begging her to face reality and begin the search for a husband who did not belong in the House of Odin. The two were on nearly equal footing, but she knew that a decision, for the good of the Realm, wound need to be made soon.

Thor lay in the dark, running his fingers through Jane’s long, brunette locks and sighed as he looked up into the ceiling. He wondered what Finna was doing at that moment and sighed. He rarely thought of Jane when he was with Finna, why was his mind so fixated on his favorite ginger whilst in bed with his mortal?
He closed his eyes, trying like hell for sleep to come, but failed miserably. He had waited a very long time to finally be in the exact place he had longed to be; why was he now yearning to be back in Asgard?
He missed his children. He missed his bed. He missed his woman—the same woman he gave up to be exactly where he was at that moment.
“Mmm,” Jane opened her eyes and smiled up at him. “What is it?”
“I’m lying here, thinking about everything Finna needs to do before her coronation,” he sighed. “Right now, she’s meeting with the Record Keepers, appointing her War Council, reorganizing the Herd…”
“Were you not thinking of that when you decided to be with me?” she watched him.
“I’m not sure what I was thinking,” he sighed.
“Sure you do,” she read his eyes. “You’ve just lost your mother and have had no time to cope with that. You needed to get away from Asgard to absorb everything.”
He watched her.
“You lost your mother and became a father to twins within hours of one another. You didn’t even get to let it sink in before you went to work to save me… and the Nine Realms, and then lost your brother,” she rolled her eyes. “You need to let it all sink in a bit.”
“I abandoned my family to do that,” tears filled his eyes.
“You chose me over them,” she whispered. “I wondered when it would sink in.”
“In my grief, I’ve left her to care for our children, grieve over mother and Loki, and prepare for a coronation I know deeply she doesn’t even want,” he threw his arm over his eyes. “I am an ass.”
“The question is… what are you going to do about it?”
He sighed before looking down at her.
“I’m not her, Thor. I’m not a warrior. I’m not a witch. I’m not a mother. You adore her in a way I’ve never seen before, including with me. I’m not sure why you’ve tried so hard to push her away the past year, but I know deep down that’s not what you want.”
“When I look at you, I see her looking back at me. I’ve moved as far away from her as I can possibly get, and yet… I cannot get away from her.”
“You’re in love with her. Why are you in such denial that you want her?”
“Have you ever tried to love someone whose heart was closed?” tears fell from his eyes. “She goes through the motions, but… when we were young and in the Herd together, she was so much different. She’s never been the same…”
“Since your exile? When she was forced to marry Loki or die? When she had to lie to everyone and hide your son’s paternity? I’m sure that would harden a woman’s heart. She never thought she’d see you again and when you came back, you were with me.”
“She doesn’t forgive easily. I’m not sure it matters to her if I return now or a hundred years from now.”
“Why don’t we start with her coronation?”

I'm back!
Thank you so much for the messages and well-wishes while I was gone. I can't believe it's been so long! I appreciate every single one of you who checked up on me. ♥︎♥︎♥︎
I am slowly but surely writing again, which means more parts! I'm pacing myself, though, so please be patient. I know my links need a lot of work and sorting, I promise to work on them soon.
I have also started a new page for two-dimensional fan fiction! My love of otome, sexy androgynous people, and reversed harems have taken over (well... I've been writing fan fiction for them since 2015...) and I've decided they need to be read. As my inaugural post on Sunday, I will be posting a medley of snippets from Obey Me, Mystic Messenger, Enchanted in the Moonlight, and Star Crossed Myth.
One last reminder: My stories are 18+. The posts aren't always NSFW, but in general, the story lines are for mature audiences.
Thanks a bunch, and enjoy!

Hail Dýrfinna! (67)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Finna met Thor in the hall that lead to Odin’s chambers and threw her arms around him. “Thank The Ancients, you’re back!”
“I heard what happened,” he pushed her back and looked her over. “Are you well?”
“I don’t want to be here,” she whispered.
“But here you are,” he smiled, knowing well what his father was about to bestow on her.
She rolled her eyes before stepping back and straightening her gown. “Did he die well?” she asked softly.
His eyes filled with tears as he watched her. “He fought with honor.”
“That’s not what I asked.”
“He saved my life, Finn. He saved us all.”
She closed her eyes and nodded. “Thank you for giving him a chance to redeem himself. Avenging your mother’s death was the perfect boost he needed to finally do something right in your father’s eyes.”
“I would have done anything to save Jane and keep Asgard safe, but… you’re right. I couldn’t have done it without him.”
They looked up as Balder joined them.
“Sorry I’m late,” he kissed Finna’s cheek before hugging his brother. “Alrekk wanted a bedtime story.”
Finna smiled as Thor broke into a bright grin. “And Uncle Balder the Brave was the perfect man for the job.”
“Shut up,” he growled as they followed him into the dining hall.
Everyone took their seats around the grand table as Finna realized that this was a more formal dinner than she had expected. All twelve Asgardian Judges were present, as well as the Commanders of the Herd and highest ranking of the Einherjar. She took her seat to Odin’s left as Thor sat across from her. The dinner began as Odin raised his glass and waited.
Everyone else followed.
“To my son, who offered his life to save all of the Nine Realms. Hail Thor!”
“Hail Thor!” Finna grinned at her man.
“And to my daughter, Asgard’s new Queen. Hail Dýrfinna!”
“Hail Dýrfinna!”
“Wait, what?!” she screeched as she turned to him.
Everyone dropped to their knees, including Odin.
“No, no, no!” she rose to her feet and looked around.
“Thor has made the decision to help protect Asgard from Earth, but not rule it. Asgard needs a new ruler. We have met in council, and we have asked the 12 Diars who the most qualified, strongest, and most-skilled member of our family is to be the next ruler. Since I have not yet officially revoked your title as Princess, you are still in my line of succession.”
She turned to Balder. “It’s your birthright, not mine.”
“Finna… Come one… you’re the most powerful witch in Asgard and probably more than a few of the other realms. You would definitely best me in combat. You are our new… Allmother,” he bowed.
“Hail to the Queen!”
“Thor!” she reached for him across the table.
“You are the best person to lead Asgard into this period of rebuilding. You will be an amazing Queen.”
“And neither prince had to marry you to do it!” Fandral lifted his glass as Sif and Hogun groaned.
“I… don’t know what to say,” she looked around the table.
Volstagg cleared his throat. “How about… let’s eat?”
They broke into laughter as she nodded in defeat. “Of course, eat up!”
.
After many hours of revelry, Finna excused herself to her chambers. Thor quickly followed and caught her on the balcony overlooking the Bifrost. He placed his hands on her shoulders as she pulled away.
“Finna?”
“You picked her,” she whispered.
When he didn’t answer, she turned around to look into his eyes. “You didn’t simply decide to take her on as a lover, you chose her over me.”
“My time with Jane will be over in the blink of an eye. I will return and…”
“It’s not that simple,” tears filled her eyes. “You have now made me Queen. It will become Asgard’s priority to find her queen a consort.”
He sighed. “I don’t think that’s the case.”
“Then you are an idiot,” she growled.
“Finna,” he reached for her.
“Don’t touch me,” her voice rumbled against the stone surrounding them. “You told me you regretted your banishment, for you would have married me then. You lie with me and return to her. You gave me three beautiful children and now you abandon us for Earth…”
“That’s not…”
“When does it end? When will I be enough for you?”
“You have always been enough,” he cupped her face with his hands.
“Then when will you finally choose me?”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I thought you’d be pleased that I’m finally getting her out of my system.”
“All you’re doing is proving that I’m good enough to lie with, to rule in your stead, to carry and raise your children… but not to marry.”
“No,” his eyes widened.
“Just… go back to Earth. We will do just fine without you,” with a wave of her hand, she sent him to the Bifrost.
.
She turned to walk back into the palace to find that Odin had been watching them. “Father,” she waited.
He stared at her for a moment, wondering why and how it was that she could not see through his tricks when she so easily could before. “I take it Thor is taking his leave of us?”
“He is,” she nodded, “at my insistence. He needs to be with his woman for as long as he possibly can, while he can.”
“Is this the talk of a Queen?”
“It’s the talk of a woman who lost her true love,” she sighed.
“Don’t let Thor hear you say that.”
“Thor knows the truth,” she looked away. “I have a meeting with the Judges in a bit, is there anything else you need Father?”
“No,” he watched her closely.
She nodded before walking off.
A smile slowly rose to his lips. So that was it, she was in mourning for the loss of him. She was so wrapped up in her grief that her senses refused to alert her to the fact that he had been standing right in front of her.
He began to whistle as he walked off.

“Finna,” she heard his voice in the darkness.
“Loki?” she stopped what she was doing and followed it.
“Come to me, my love.”
“I can’t find you.”
“Trust me…”
“You ask the impossible.”
“Please, Finna. I can’t lose you to the Darkness. I promise you, I will never lie to you again.”
“Stop lying!”
“I know, Finn. I know what I said broke your heart, but I wish you could believe that I did what I had to do to save your life. Just as I am now…” a hand reached for hers and she stared at it.
“What have you done?” she whispered.
“I’ve given you what I failed to while we were married. I’ve made you the queen you deserve to be.”
“I’m no queen…”
“You are now.”
She opened her eyes and found herself on a platform in the Hall of Healers, Balder holding her hand as an old woman and Odin stood over her.
“Welcome back,” Hogun hovered over her.
“Where’s Loki?” she quickly sat up and looked around.
“Dead,” Odin answered quickly. “He gave his life to help Thor save Asgard and the Nine Realms.”
“No,” she looked away. “I just heard him.”
“It’s true,” Fandral watched her. “Thor has defeated Malekith and returned with the AEther. It is over.”
“I’m so confused,” she closed her eyes.
“You were in the Darkness for hours, it is understandable,” the elderly woman patted her knee.
“You’re Norn, why did you help me?”
“I was asked by my Queen,” she smiled. “And I have nothing against Vala.”
She watched her for a moment before looking up at Odin.
“I must now meet with my son and new King of Asgard,” he nodded. “Excuse me.”
She watched him walk off as Balder followed. “His energy is different, he’s… happy.”
“I should hope so!” Fandral laughed. “His son just saved the Nine Realms and his daughter is back and unharmed from the Darkness!”
She smiled and relaxed for a moment. “Then I’m ready to go home.”
.
Finna sat on her balcony with one sleeping baby on her chest and one in her lap as she watched Alrekk practice making a mirror image of himself.
“You forgot your nose,” she grinned.
He popped his tongue out of the corner of his mouth and concentrated.
“Look at those ears! Is that really how you see yourself?” she giggled.
He sighed and looked up at his mother.
“Hows about I make you a playmate for the day, huh? What shall it be, a boy or a girl?”
“Twins,” he looked up at his siblings.
She cocked her eyebrow proudly before waving her hand and creating images of what her twins might look like as toddlers.
He clapped his hands together happily before dashing off to his room to play.
“Oh!” Balder stepped back as the three toddlers ran past him. “They sure do grow up quickly,” his eyes widened as he peeked out at his sister-in-law and sleeping children.
“He’s bored,” she smiled for him.
“But not you,” he reached for his nephew on her lap and pulled him to his chest.
“No, I will never bore of my babies.”
He sat at the edge of her chair and watched her. “The Allfather has requested our appearance at supper tonight.”
“Tell him I’m unwell,” she looked down at her sleeping daughter and ran her fingers across her velvety white head.
“You have to talk to him eventually, Finn.”
She locked eyes with him. “He sent me into the Darkness and hasn’t so much as apologized since bringing me back. After all I’ve done, after all I’ve proven… it wasn’t enough. He didn’t believe me…”
“He was angry.”
“And immediately thought I’d aid Loki,” she angered, but then calmed herself.
“Have you told Alrekk yet?”
Tears filled her eyes as she shook her head.
“Darling…”
“First his grandmother, and now his step-father…” she whimpered. “And he very nearly lost his mother.”
“He still has you,” he took her hand. “And right now you need to be strong for him.”
“For him, for Odin, for Asgard, for the Realms… I’m tired of being strong, can I not have one bloody day to break down?!”
He smiled before pulling her hand toward him and kissing her fingers. “No.”
She couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Thank you.”
He chuckled. “Feel better?”
“Loads.”
“Good, because supper is in an hour,” he walked off with her son.
She looked down at her daughter and sighed.

Broken Contracts and New Agreements (65)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Odin stood in front of Hliðskjálf, pacing as he waited to see how Thor’s impudence played out.
An Einherjar arrived and bowed in front of him. “Forgive me my liege, I’ve returned from the Dark World with news.”
“Thor?”
“There’s no sight of Thor, or the weapon, but… we found a body.”
“Loki.”
He nodded before looking up and waiting.
“Find the Norn sorceress, have her pull Princess Dýrfinna from the darkness. I want to know how much damage has been done to her.”
His face tightened. “Yes, My King,” he quickly ran off to the dungeons. “Find the Norn sorceress, she is to release the Princess from the spell,” he commanded his peers.
They quickly walked off as he all but ran down the stairs to find Finna.
“Are they releasing her?” Volstagg asked as Fandral sat in a corner with his head in his hands. The visions Finna was sharing with them were difficult to witness.
“Aye,” he dropped the force field. “The Allfather commanded it after hearing the news of Loki’s death.”
Sif rose to her feet. “And Thor?”
“There was no sign of him on the Dark Planet,” he looked over Finna. “How long has she been in the Darkness?”
“Hours,” Hogun answered.
Finna walked through the darkness, the rocky surface shifting under her feet. She was finding it difficult to get her footing as she made her way up the hill. She slipped again, twisting her ankle and fell, catching herself on her hands.
The rocks under her didn’t quite feel like rocks. In fact, they were hollow… and smooth… her eyes widened when she realized that she had stuck her fingers through the eye sockets of a skull.
“Mother!”
She looked up to find her eldest son as a young man, walking toward her.
“Alrekk?” she reached for him. “Where are we?”
“We’ve won! Earth is ours!”
“Wh…” she struggled to her feet as he helped her. “I don’t understand.”
“You are now the Queen of Earth, and I’m your Prince,” he grinned, looking more like his father by the second.
“And my King?” she asked.
“Me, of course!”
She slowly looked up to see Loki.
The Warriors Three and Sif were released from their cell as the Norn sorceress arrived at Finna’s. She smiled as she read her thoughts before looking up at the Einherjar.
“This could be extremely entertaining if we just keep her there.”
“Odin commands it,” he angered.
She tsked before placing her hand over her heart.
The darkness left Finna’s eyes as Hogun rushed to her side. “Finn,” he lifted her face to look into her eyes. “Talk to me, Finna.”
“Why isn’t she answering?” Sif asked the sorceress.
“Van brain chemistry is so… easy to manipulate,” she laughed. “But difficult to heal.”
“Fix her, witch!” Fandral lunged for her.
Volstagg and Hogun held their mate back as the Einherjar each took an arm of the sorceress.
“Odin commands…”
“I care not what Odin commands, he is not my king!” she squealed. “I only did his bidding to ensure that Van Witch was unable to ascend to the throne! I’ll not have an inferior being as Protectress of my realm!”
The Einherjar closest to her, the same one who had returned from the Dark World with news of Loki’s death, drew his sword and quickly decapitated the woman before she even had a chance to know it was coming.
.
Odin arrived at the Hall of Healers and walked straight up to where Finna lay. “Why isn’t she conscious?”
“The Norn witch you sent would rather have scrambled her brain than be of assistance!” Volstagg glared at him.
“Where is she, I demand…”
“The Einherjar you sent killed her when she refused to help,” Sif smirked. “I like him.”
“This is not good news,” he grumbled.
“Why?” Fandral looked him in the eye. “She had nothing to do with Loki’s escape, we all made sure of it!”
“She must learn her place!”
“And she has! Or have you been drowning in your own grief too much to notice?!”
“Fan…” Hogun grabbed his arm.
“You are hell bent on not leaving a single prodigy to take the throne!” he unleashed his fury. “Loki’s dead, Thor’s missing, Balder was in the prisons with us, and Finna…” he shook his head as he turned back to look down at his friend.
“I’m sorry,” he spoke lowly.
“Are you?! Really?!”
“Fandral, mind your tongue,” Sif reminded him to whom he was speaking.
“I shall travel to Nornheim tonight and plead my case directly to Queen Karnilla. I will fix this, I swear.”
Fandral calmed himself before nodding.
Odin looked around before walking out to the hall and stopping to take a breath. As he walked off and turned a corner, one of his Einherjar followed.
.
“Loki,” Finna whispered.
Everyone looked up and waited.
“Do you think she knows?” Sif asked.
“For all I know, she foresaw it,” Fandral answered.
.
Odin approached the throne of Queen Karnilla of the Norns with an Einherjar at each side. As he bowed to her, she cocked her eyebrow and smiled. “I’m honored, King Odin.”
“As am I,” he nodded. “Thank you for meeting with me on such short notice.”
“I do hope this is your quick apology for the assassination of one of my Crones. What are you willing to pay her family?”
“Excuse me?” he stopped. “She failed to keep her bargain.”
“She put your daughter in the Darkness not once, but twice. She gave you what you wanted in a neat, tidy little gift-wrapped box.”
“That she did,” he acknowledged as the Einherjar to his left glanced at him. “And I apologize for the rash actions of my guardsmen. They were hasty upon what they thought was a threat to their Princess.”
“So let me get this straight…” the Einherjar to his left began to glow green as he shifted to that of this true form. “You’re the reason Finna nearly went insane in the darkness last year as well as now?” Loki turned to his father.
“Loki,” he whispered.
Queen Karnilla clapped her hands together and watched them closely. “This is entertainment!”
“You took my wife away from me,” Loki stared him down.
“She deserves better than you!”
He smiled before turning to the queen and bowing lowly. “My Queen, I offer you a gift!”
“And what might that be?”
“The King of Asgard!” he grabbed Gungnir before pushing his father to the ground and stepping on his back. “All I ask for is the cure to restore Princess Dýrfinna.”
“Loki, please!” Odin pleaded with him.
“And what would I do with the Allfather?” Karnilla’s eyes glowed in happiness.
“Imprison him, torture him, kill him… I care not. My only concern is making Finna Queen.”
Karnilla was no fool, the Allfather’s powers were far superior than hers… which is why he was, or course, the Allfather. His one weakness, however, was well documented in the annals of history and if there was one thing she knew well was how to seduce a man.
“Please see Odin to his new chambers, and introduce him to a dozen of our most beautiful handmaidens. He will be treated as our guest and not be harmed.”
Loki waited as he watched her.
“You have an agreement, on one condition.”
“What’s that?” he waited patiently.
“You, Loki Laufeyson, shall be guest in my bed tonight.”
A smile slowly rose to his face as she stepped down from her throne and approached him. “I believe that can be arranged.”

The Allfather's Betrayal (64)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Loki had been freed. He was taking his first real footsteps outside of the palace in years. Of course, he had been threatened with death twice already and struck across the face by Thor’s lovely mortal, but he didn’t care. He was no longer inside that dark, dank dungeon and truth be told, he had no intention of ever being placed there again.
He, Thor, and Jane had just left Sif in the hall to defend off Einherjar when a distantly familiar rise in electricity in the air caught his attention. Neither Thor nor Jane seemed to notice, but he did… and it caused his heart to skip a beat. He stopped dead in his tracks and waited as she materialized in front of them and went straight for his throat.
“Finna!” Thor roared as she threw Loki against the wall.
She held her hand up, freezing him in his place as she glared into those green eyes she used to adore so much.
Jane froze in fear, having no idea what the powerful redhead was about to do.
“If you even think about killing your brother again, I will rip your heart out with my bare hands,” she growled.
His chest heaved as he looked her over. “I thought you dead, I saw…”
“And why would you care?” she hissed. “Everything about us was a sham!”
“You know I had to do everything in my power to keep you safe!”
“I don’t believe a word that slips off that silver tongue!” she pressed her dagger against his throat.
“Do it. Kill me now,” he spoke with tears in his eyes. “A world without your trust isn’t one I want to be a part of.”
Her emotions did their best to betray her as she stepped back and released Thor. “You will never be King of Asgard, and I will make damn sure of it.”
“Finn,” Thor pleaded with her.
“Go,” she again waved her hand, creating a force field for them. “I will give you time,” she transformed into a façade of one of her captains.
Loki watched her as Thor pulled him away.
.
Finna was sitting on her balcony, staring off at the Bifrost as an Einherjar barged into her home. Her handmaidens instinctively formed a line across the floor as he made an announcement. “My Lady, the Allfather has commanded your arrest!”
She slowly rose to her feet as four more guards joined him.
“On what grounds?!” Katla protected her keeper.
“Treason for assisting in the escape of the prisoner Loki Laufeyson!”
“Ladies,” she raised her hand. “I have nothing to hide, I shall be home very soon,” she walked past them to face the Einherjar.
“Forgive me, My Lady,” he placed shackles on her wrists.
“There’s nothing to forgive,” she smiled for him before they marched off to the dungeons.
Sif looked up and sighed as Hogun and Volstagg were thrown in beside Balder. “And here we are,” she mumbled.
“Did Odin question you?” Hogun asked her.
“He is not yet finished with Heimdall,” she nodded toward a cell across from theirs.
They heard footsteps and waited as Fandral was added to their cell.
“Seems we’re all accounted for,” he looked around before sliding down to sit. “May as well get comfortable, this might take a while.”
“I take it Thor and Loki made it,” Hogun looked around.
“I sure hope…”
They all froze as they heard footsteps once again. They looked between one another as a guard opened the cell directly across from them. They were speechless when they saw Finna being placed, in shackles, into the cell.
“No,” Fandral whispered as he rose to his feet. “She had nothing to do with this!”
A special chair was placed into the room and her shackles removed so that the restraints of the chair could be activated. She silently met her friends’ eyes as they watched and waited.
The barrier of the cell had yet to be activated, there was no force field keeping her in save the restraints on the huge, iron chair.
Odin arrived and stood directly in front of her as she slowly looked up at him.
“How did he escape?!” he demanded.
“I do not know.”
“You had to have aided him, Finna!”
“I did not.”
“Thor would have needed your help!”
“He asked for nothing, he did this on his own.”
“Your former husband has escaped and the father of your children is off to get them all killed! Is this what you want?!”
“I have no idea what they have left to do, other than what I’ve been told. Do you really think he’d involve me, so soon after giving birth?!”
“You mean to tell me that you, Dýrfinna, were unable to hear what was going on in the minds of your friends and loved ones? That’s what you want me to believe?”
“I speak the truth, Father. They somehow shielded their thoughts; I haven’t heard them for a few days.”
“She’s telling the truth!” Sif called out.
Odin paused before looking up at his guards and nodding. He walked out, only to be replaced by an old woman – the same one who met her on the battlefield of Alfheim.
“No,” her eyes widened. She moved her hand, trying desperately to create a shield, but was unable. Something in the chair was blocking the use of her magic. “No, please! Father!”
“No!” Hogun yelled as he dove for the force field, his friends pulling him back to keep from harm.
“Ahhh!” she began to scream as her skin turned red. She fought the woman’s magic as her eyes began to darken. Every muscle in her body shook as her eyes returned to normal before sparkling bright green. “Not… this… day,” she gritted her teeth together as blue swirls danced around her skin.
The woman gave her an amused smile before tilting her head and pushing her hands out toward her. There was a huge impact wave that rippled away from her as everyone in the vicinity was pushed back against the walls.
Fandral slowly rose to his feet and looked up to see Finna quiet, still, and with completely black eyes.
“Finna, no!”
The woman stepped into the hall and nodded to the Einherjar, who activated the force field and left her in the cell.

Whispers In The Shadows (63)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Finna sat in the dark and nursed her babies as the palace stirred. Frigga’s funeral had been beautiful, and Odin conveyed his gratitude by kissing her on the forehead and walking off.
The Allfather had a lot on his mind.
The War Council had been meeting for hours when she realized that she had stopped hearing voices in her head. Fandral, Sif… even Thor’s voices had become silent. Her mouth dropped open as she realized that she was being blocked.
She helped her handmaidens put the babies to bed and read Alrekk a story before walking to her dressing room and dressing into her battle armor. Slipping out of her bedchamber, she traveled through the shadows while focusing on the thoughts of anyone who might know their location. Volstagg, Hogun, Heimdall…
She smiled to herself as she headed out of the Palace and into the city.
.
“The Dark Elves will return,” Thor spoke to his friends. “He can sense the location of the AEther. What I’m about to ask of you is treason of the highest order. Success… will bring us exile and failure shall mean our deaths.”
Fandral rubbed his hands together before looking around the table.
“Asgard needs Odin’s successor and his Queen to be free of scandal,” he turned to his brother. “The less she knows the safer she’ll be, and… we need our new queen as pristine as possible in the eyes of the Realm.”
Sif looked around the table. This was serious. “You just gave your youngest brother permission to marry the mother of your children? I’m sure Finna will love that,” she hissed.
“I will go,” Balder raised his hands. “But I’m not marrying the woman you should have,” he huffed before storming off.
“So there’s that,” Hogun growled.
“Malekith will return for the AEther. If we do nothing, he will come for it again but this time lay waste to all of Asgard. We must move Jane off-world.”
“The Bifrost has been shut down and the Tesseract locked away in the vault,” Sif spoke up.
“There are other paths on Asgard, ways known only to a few,” Heimdall followed.
“Two, actually,” Thor spoke slowly. “And one of them is to remain blissfully unaware of our plans.”
Sif turned her eyes to Volstagg and then Fandral.
Hogun shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Finna knew…
“No…” Volstagg whispered.
“He will betray you,” Fandral spoke up.
“He will try,” Thor answered quickly.
“If you do this, Loki will be King,” Finna’s voice called out from the shadows.
Thor rose to his feet to greet her as she stepped out into the candlelight. “A vision?”
“The same that predicted Mother’s death. Brothers will reunite and Loki shall rule Asgard once again.”
“I don’t see how that’s possible.”
“Do you not?” she huffed. “You’re already underestimating him?”
“Your visions are subjective, perhaps…”
“Have you had one since?” Sif asked.
She walked around the table and took Thor’s hand. Her eyes darkened as she threw her head back. “I see three; two princes and a princess. One lives, one dies, and one cast into Limbo. Only one can rule Asgard. Darkness will consume all or one, depending on the outcome.”
“Darkness?” Sif’s eyes filled with fear.
Finna’s eyes returned to normal as Thor watched her. “You will stay here, if I have to shackle you to your bed; Do you hear me?”
She nodded her head silently, the prospect of being lost in the darkness once more not appealing to her in the slightest.
“I don’t see how you can contribute to our outcome if you are not a part of it,” Thor looked around.
“And if the Allfather questions her?” Sif asked.
Finna raised her hand. “I will go.” Everyone watched her as she looked over each face in the room. “For Asgard,” she bowed before disappearing back into the shadows.
“I’m not sure which is worse, doing this with or without her help,” Volstagg sat up and took a drink from his cup. Fandral nodded in agreement.

The New Allmother (62)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Finna led Jane past the courtyard where the Herd was gathered and stopped. She crossed her arms and watched as their captains took over in training after briefing the conditions of Odin’s Einherjar post-attack.
“Our Commanders are meeting with the Allfather, we will know more shortly.”
Finna bit her lip and rolled her eyes. “They need to train with the Einherjar,” she mumbled under her breath.
“What’s that?” Jane asked.
“Our Herd, my regiment are trained for open field combat. They need to train with the Einherjar to learn more close-quarters and hand to hand.”
“You’re a Deputy Commander, why don’t you just…”
“I’m not here,” she bit the inside of her lip before waving her hand. Holograms of Sif, Thor, Balder, and The Warriors Three appeared and began to bark orders to the captains. “And I’m still not here,” she smiled as they walked toward the archery range.
“Princess Dýrfinna,” Tyr, the Director of the Archers bowed.
“Tyr…” she looked around. “Why aren’t your archers practicing for the funeral pyre of the Queen?”
“We have not yet been commanded to do so, My Lady,” he bowed.
She frowned as she watched him.
“The Allfather has been hesitant on making the preparations for His Queen.”
She nodded in understanding. “I shall take over, then. Please prepare them. Her funeral shall be at nightfall on the Eve of Thor.”
“Yes, my princess,” he bowed.
“Why do some people call you a princess and others a lady?” Jane asked.
“I was a Lady when I married Loki, and then Acting Queen. Then I went back to Lady and was given the title Princess. I can barely keep up, let alone anyone who is actually trying.”
“Ah,” she answered. “And why would Odin do that to you when you’ve just given birth to his grandchildren?”
“Because they are the children of Thor, and that would make them products of incest in the Laws of the Realm.”
“Got a point,” she paused. “I’m really confused about him,” she spoke carefully. “How can he claim to want a relationship with me and father children with you, whom he seems to… adore?”
She nodded politely before answering. “I have already known him for 400 years. We live much longer than mortals and are quite aware that 5000 years is a very long time to remain devoted to one and only one person. Monogamy is highly unusual to us, we are expected to take on lovers. Whatever it is you and he have… will be over by the time my children finish their education. I can wait. You cannot.”
“Why would you want to?”
She stared down at the mortal woman for a moment. “I don’t expect you to understand our ways, Jane. Just remember that there are two sides to every story and what he tells you may not be the same information I receive.”
“And vice versa,” she sighed. “Do you think he’s playing us both?”
“I think he genuinely loves us both, as I too am in love with another. Hopefully, some time soon, he’ll stop sitting on his hands and make a damned choice.”
Her eyes widened as she hiccuped through a laugh. “I completely agree.”
“Jane Foster,” members of the Einherjar approached the women. “You need to come with us.”
“Under whose authority?” Finna asked.
“The King.”
She reached for her dagger.
“Finna,” Jane placed her hand on her arm, stopping her. “It’s okay, I’ll go.”
She nodded slowly before closing her eyes and alerting Thor.
.
“We are still unable to restore the palace shields,” Fandral updated Odin on the status of their realm. “Our artillery cannot detect them, even Heimdall cannot see them,” he paused. “My King… we are all but defenseless.”
Thor interrupted their meeting. “So she’s your prisoner now?!” he asked.
Odin turned to Fandral and nodded.
“Leave us,” Thor demanded.
Fandral glanced at him for a moment before walking off.
Sif met him in the corridor with a smirk on her face. “Where’s Finna?”
“Home,” he spoke slowly. “Why?”
“We are apparently training our warriors to fight with the Einherjar at this very moment.”
He closed his eyes and shook his head. “That woman is going to be the death of us all,” he complained as they marched off to the courtyard.
.
As the Herd continued their training, Finna discretely walked up to a Guard and whispered to him. “Go to the dungeons and inform Prince Loki of the death of his mother.”
“Yes, Princess,” he quickly walked off.
“There she is!” Fandral hissed sarcastically.
“Hello!” she grinned as their holographic replicas in the courtyard disappeared. “Good! You’re here to take over!”
“You look well,” Sif laughed before hugging her.
“I’m fine,” she caught Balder’s eyes. “My family are on their way to the palace to meet the twins.”
Hogun bit his lip. “I’m not sure that’s such a good idea. In fact… I think you should take the children and go…”
“The Princess is not leaving the palace,” she answered sternly. “And you should have known better.”
Sif looked between the two before walking off to spar with a Guard.
“I really…”
“Father is no good at planning and is remiss in his preparations of the Allmother’s funeral. I need to go meet with the dressmaker and procure arrangements. I only just spoke to Tyr a moment ago to alert his archers to practice for the funeral pyre.”
“I’m sure The King and Thor would both support your visit to Vanaheim, but it is up to you.” She was taking her place as matriarch of Asgard, as was her duty. “You should be together right now, basking in the bliss of your new children.”
“Fate has a funny way of ruining all our plans,” she kissed his cheek. “You… have a lot of work ahead of you, and a decision to be made.”
“Decision?” he watched her closely as Fandral, too, watched her.
“Don’t think with your hearts or even your guts, but… think as a Commander and Warrior. Sometimes you need to look past your hatred to make the right decision.”
The four of them watched in awe as she walked off to do her duty to Asgard.

The Beginning of The End of A New Beginning (61)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
Jane Foster walked into Finna’s bedchamber the next morning to find that Thor was cuddled with Alrekk in a chair next to Finna’s bed, watching her sleep. She smiled as she sat next to him and placed her hand on his arm.
“You’re such a good uncle,” she whispered.
He watched the boy before turning his eyes to her. “I’d like to think I’m an even better father,” he waited for her response.
She frowned, looking over the boy’s bright red hair and pale skin. She looked around the room and noticed that at no time was she ever introduced to Finna’s husband.
“Loki is not his father,” he watched her. “I am.”
She mulled over the information she had as she frowned. “I’m confused.”
He began to smile. “It is very confusing, yet… not at all.”
She laced her fingers through his and leaned into him. “Explain.”
“When I was exiled to Earth, when I had met you, Finna had conceived my child. She though she would never see me again and she had broken her betrothal to another man who wanted her dead. My brother, Loki, intervened and married her.
“Finna was Queen?” she raised her eyebrows.
“Loki fled Asgard and was assumed dead, so Father adopted her out of respect for his grandchild.”
“Wow, that’s a thing here? It sounds so… ancient.”
“Finna took care of Mother during that time; she stayed with her, by my father’s bed. My mother loved her.”
“Everyone seems to love her,” she acknowledged.
“I was not aware that Alrekk was my son until he was nearly a year old.”
“And now?”
“Now… she is a Deputy Commander in the Herd. We fought side by side to dispel the marauders from the Nine Realms. One thing led to another… When Father found out she was once again with child, he annulled her marriage to Loki and commanded that she marry me.”
“Commanded? Seriously, he forced you?”
“He did at first. I convinced him to let me see you once more, to truly decide my own fate.”
“That’s… crazy. You have three children with her and here you are, asking me what to do?”
He smiled as he looked into her eyes. “Balder is next in line for the throne if I decide not to take it, and Alrekk after him. Either way, Finna will be Queen or Queen Mother.”
“Why would you not take it?”
They looked down to see Alrekk open his eyes and look around.
“Good morning,” Thor grinned. “Would you like some breakfast?”
He frowned and shook his head.
“Would you like to see your mother?”
He nodded.
“Come on, then,” he leaned toward the bed.
“Hmmm,” she mumbled sleepily.
“I love you,” Alrekk kissed her.
She smiled before opening her eyes. “I’m still here.”
“Thankfully,” Thor sighed. “I think you should move to Vanaheim.”
She began to laugh.
“You’re hell-bent on sacrificing yourself in the name of Asgard.”
“Tell me you wouldn’t do the same.”
“I can live with my death,” he brushed his nose against hers. “I cannot, however, live with yours.”
She brushed her fingertips across his cheek before changing the subject. “We need to name our children.”
“Not at this moment.”
She smirked at his determination. “I have no desire to pull rank on you this morning, darling.”
“I’d like to see you try!” he chuckled.
They were interrupted when Katla walked in with a bundle in her arms. Thor’s eyes filled with joy as he looked over his brand new daughter.
“I thought I’d bring her in before she woke up brother,” she grinned as she handed the hungry baby to her mother.
“Thank you,” Finna quickly began to nurse her. “Ooh, she’s aggressive.”
“It’s as if she’s the daughter of a Warrior Queen,” he laughed.
She turned to him and smiled.
“So? Do your thing and name our daughter,” he waited.
She placed her hand on her daughter head as her eyes darkened. “She will have hair of gold with her father’s blue eyes... her golden hair hung in tresses, and at the end of each plait hung a bead. To some men her hair was the color of the yellow flag iris which grows by summer water; others thought it like ruddy polished gold. Slender and exquisite as a birch tree, of shape as sweet as the fine clover, of color as fair as a summer morning, she is the type of the glory of all lands…”
“Are you reciting a work of poetry?” Jane waited.
“Niamh of the Golden Hair, she will be worshiped as a Maiden Goddess of Earth,” her eyes returned to normal as she looked down at her daughter.
“Goddess,” Jane asked slowly.
“I’m only the messenger,” she whispered. “Sometimes I’m not sure what it means either.”
“So… Niamh,” Thor changed the subject. “I like it.”
“Of course you do,” she smiled as Svana dashed in with a crying baby boy.
“Oh no! He’s afraid he’s going to starve!” Finna laughed as she handed Naimh off for burping.
“Wh…” Thor froze. “What do I…”
“Pat her back,” Finna cooed softly. “You won’t hurt her.”
He glanced down as he held her awkwardly. Finna watched from the corner of her eye as she brought her son to breast.
“Odin’s Beard,” he mumbled as the tiny newborn snuggled into her father as her marks began to swirl around her skin.
“She knows you’re her father,” Finna kissed his cheek.
He relaxed as he looked down proudly at his son. “Finnán.”
“Wh…” she whipped her head up.
“He’s going to be a warrior and a hunter. I dreamt of him the night you told me you were pregnant.”
“Finnán it is,” she blushed, knowing full well that he had just named their son after her.
“He’ll be fair with your beautiful brown eyes… the ladies will love him.”
“Of course.”
“My Princess,” Jora approached them. “Prince Balder and Lady Sif are here to see you.”
She nodded as her handmaidens immediately straightened up the room and propped the new parents up onto pillows to make them presentable. Rjupta even went so far as to brush and braid her lady’s hair before handing her a glass of wine.
“Thank you,” Finna smiled before waving off the glass.
Balder burst through the doors carrying gifts as Sif stopped and stared at the Mortal in the room.
“Momma!” Alrekk climbed onto the bed between his parents.
“Careful, my love,” she helped him onto the bed. “Your brother is still eating.”
“You look much better,” Balder leaned down to kiss her cheek, completely ignoring the fact that she was nursing her son.
Jane frowned uncomfortably as she looked away.
“Thank you,” she smiled up at him. “Have you met them yet?”
“No,” he threw himself onto the end of the bed.
“Your niece, Niamh,” Thor handed her off.
“By the Gods, brother, she looks like you!” he goaded his brother. “Wow.”
“Aren’t genetics funny?” Finna giggled.
“Wow,” Jane turned to look over Finna. “You nearly died yesterday, you look… so well.”
She raised her eyebrows. “I heal normally, Jane Foster,” she spoke slowly.
“She’s always been a quick healer,” Thor waved his hand. “Even for an Asgardian.”
“Good thing I’m not Asgardian then,” Finna sassed him as they laughed together.
Finna suddenly straightened up. “The Allfather calls for his Commanders.”
Thor sighed heavily before crawling out of bed and walking to the dressing room.
“Jora,” Finna pointed to her daughter.
“Finn,” Balder complained as the handmaiden took her away.
“I need to get ready,” she handed her son to him. “Meet Finnán.”
“Finnán,” Alrekk repeated.
“You’re not ready for this, Finna,” Sif watched her slip out of bed.
“Am I not still Deputy Commander of the Raven Battalion?”
“Of course you are.”
“Am I not still Princess of Asgard and Protectress of the Nine Realms?”
Balder held the baby in the crook of his left arm and grabbed her with his free hand. “You are also my sister, whom nearly died protecting our fallen mother just before giving birth to twins only yesterday. You will sit this one out.”
“I have to do something…”
“You… will bond with the future of Asgard,” he kissed his nephew’s head before returning him to the arms of his mother. “All of Asgard and the Nine Realms will look to you in their loss of Mother. Begin by showing them what a wonderful one you are.”
She relaxed her shoulders and sighed heavily. “Of course.”
She handed her son to Katla just in time to see Thor rejoin them in his battle armor.
“Jane… please, stay here with Finna. I am not sure how long this meeting will last.”
“Please,” Finna turned to her with a smile.
They shared a silent conversation for a moment before he again kissed her on the forehead. “I’m fully aware,” he smirked.
Jane raised her eyebrows and turned to Thor.
“She can read thoughts…” he looped his finger through the air. “It’s a Finna thing.”
“Can she…” she began.
“Yes,” Finna answered her question with a smile. “Mortals are extremely easy to read, as well as…”
“Control,” Jane’s eyes widened as she realized that Finna had just forced her to speak.
“Finn,” Thor growled. “Don’t scare her.”
“I’m fairly sure that ship has sailed,” she grinned and waved as the men turned to leave. Once they were out the door, Finna turned and looked at Jane. “Come with me.”

In Defense of The Mortal Pt 2 (60)
Tumblr media
ᚳᚻᚫᛈᛏᛖᚱ ᛚᛁᛋᛏ, ᛋᚢᛗᛗᚫᚱᚣ, & ᚹᚫᚱᚾᛁᚾᚷᛋ
“I’m so sorry,” Finna continued to mumble as the Healers scanned her body and went to work.
“It’s all right, Finn,” Thor did his best to calm her.
“My fault,” she breathed. “I’m so sorry,” she whimpered. “The vision…”
“We cannot stop the bleeding until we take the children,” Eir explained to him.
Finna’s eyes turned dark for a moment before returning to normal. She began to scream in pain. “I’m so sorry!” she cried.
“Shhhh,” Thor kissed her cheek before turning to the healer. “Whatever it takes.”
The Healers washed their hands and went to work on pushing Finna’s gown up and out of the way. Two of them bent her knees and pulled her legs apart as the Principal Healer shoved her hands up inside of her.
“Ah!” Finna cried out, her eyes turning green before again darkening.
“Breathe, My Lady!” she ordered her.
Within moments, the cries of a healthy baby boy filled the room. The Principal Healer handed him off to a waiting assistant as she once again shoved her blood-covered hands into the Princess.
Finna screamed louder this time, the walls of every home in Asgard shaking as her daughter was finally freed. It took a moment, but finally she began to cry too as an assistant carried her away.
“I found the ruptured vessel, and will repair it. Once her body begins healing itself, she should be fine.”
“Did you hear that? You’ll be fine,” Thor looked down. “Finn?” he brushed his hand across her cheek. “Finna?” he smacked her pale face. “Open your eyes!”
.
Loki looked up from reading his book and scanned the thoughts of everyone he could. His mother was silent. He then thought of Finna, knowing that she was probably ripe with child and stayed out of harm’s way for the battle that had taken place, but she too was silent.
Something was definitely wrong.
Closing his eyes, he connected with the thoughts of Alrekk and looked through his eyes to see that he was being held by Volstagg and they had just arrived at the Hall of Healers.
“How is she?” he asked as Sif met him at the entrance.
“It doesn’t look good,” she took Alrekk into her arms. “She took a dagger low in the back, the healers took the children by force.”
“You mean… pulled them from her?” he winced.
“Momma,” Alrekk reached out toward the table upon seeing his mother’s lifeless body.
Loki sucked in a breath as his eyes flashed open.
.
Finna opened her eyes to see Thor standing over her, tears streaming down his face. “She’s back,” he looked up at his friends.
She took in a deep breath as everyone in the room felt the rush of her return.
“You died!” Thor’s voice rumbled through the room as he picked her up into his arms. “Thank the Healers, they brought you back!”
She opened her mouth to speak, but froze before reaching down to her belly.
“They’re fine, Finn. They’re healthy and perfect and in the next room.”
“And the Allmother?” she finally spoke.
Everyone in the room quieted.
“No,” she whimpered as she closed her eyes and looked away. “The vision I had been putting off…”
“Shhhh,” Thor stopped her. “It’s not your fault; we all know how ill you get after a vision. No one blames you for putting it off,” he tried to soothe her.
“I tried,” she turned to Thor.
“You kept Jane safe,” he looked her in the eye. “That is what Mother wanted.”
“It wasn’t good enough,” she angered.
“Dýrfinna,” the voice of the Allfather interrupted them.
They all looked up as Odin slowly approached her bedside.
“You look much better than you did the last time I saw you,” he looked her over.
Tears filled her eyes as she searched for words she could not find.
“My grandchildren are beautiful,” he turned to Thor. “Congratulations.”
“Father…” Finna whispered.
He held up his hand before reaching down and kissing her forehead. “Thank you.”
“But…”
“You nearly gave your life, as well as the lives of your children to protect my Queen. It is a debt I can never repay.”
“Father…” Thor too found that he could not speak.
“Preparations are being made, just… go be with the ones you love,” he waved his hand before walking off.
Balder looked down to see Finna and Thor share a meaningful moment before looking out into the hall. “I’ll take Alrekk for the night, you two need to bond with your children.”
“Thank you,” Thor straightened up to shake his hand.
He nodded sadly. “At least someone was saved on this day.”
Finna began to sit up, but he stopped her. Taking her head into his hands, he kissed her forehead before looking her in the eye. “Rest. Heal. And feed those babies.”
“Thank you.”
He smiled for her before walking off.
