"But the Fallout show has anti-Capitalist themes, and as a fan of the games, I don't like that!" Tell me you didn't understand the games without saying you didn't understand the games lol
Already seeing a ton of posts attempting to woobify/humanize/normalize The Ghoul from the Fallout series in an attempt to make him a more shippable character with Lucy and...yall. I am just so tired. Like, if you wanna ship the sexy ghoul man with the pretty sex positive lady, go for it! There is absolutely a charged dynamic between the two and it would be kinda hot.
But also. The Ghoul is at best Lawful Evil (to borrow from the dnd Alignment Chart). A man with a set of codes who is willing to do anything, including kill a dog and a town full of people, to get a McGuffin that MIGHT get him in a position to MAYBE get answers about what he wants. Was he at one time a genuinely good person? Absolutely! But now, right now, in the narrative, he is not much better a person from a moral perspective than Hank. And thats okay! Hell, thats good!
The lengths he is willing to go to get what makes him an interesting character. Can we not smooth over the rough edges and not take 2 second clips of his eyes supposedly softening when he looks at Lucy and say ThAt iS wHo tHe ChArAcTeR ReAlLy Is while ignoring that this is the same guy who baited a kid into going for a gun so he had a reason to shoot him?
Like. Just let morally dubious characters be morally dubious and not and them until theyre some simulacrum of their former selves that is easier and more comfortable to ship. Please.
1x3 is where we get the Cooper flashbacks, specifically him filming and the vault suit photoshoot. They come upon California Crest Studios while he's walking with Lucy, before she asks him if the rads are what happened to him, and he stops and stares at the building. That same statue is in the background in the first flashback.
Like he's not just remembering, it's not just the billboard, I think they're at ground fucking zero of his part in all this.
The last time i did a screencap repaint was for Tennet, but I really wanted to repaint this scene. The lighting/colors and the expression was so strong i had to. Also heres the sketch because I kind of like it too. Also Alt version (just has more fuzz added to it and stuff, also my signature which i forgot to add on the first image but I’ve already typed all of this and dont feel like deleting and restarting the post so)
After watching the Fallout tv series I am reminded of the time where a bunch of fallout fanboys fought me tooth and nail in my TikTok comments claiming that Fallout is “pro-capitalism” because “you buy stuff” and because “Liberty Prime” LMFAOOO the game where money is TRASH. The game where a mega corporation started a nuclear war for profit. HELP THESE PEOPLE
I love that Maximus is a heroic character, but in a way that's flawed, relatable, and human. I think the scene that sold me was him rushing to save Knight Titus, and immediately stopping once it's clear he's going to scapegoat his ass. Like yes, actually, I think that's what most of us would have done. I sure af would have.
Also I like that on one hand he's grateful to the BoS for rescuing him, but he's not a fanatic. When he and Lucy found Vault 4, I assumed he was going to hate it no matter what for simply not being the BoS. But same as her, he's willing to learn from the world around him, and change his mind. By the end of season 1, he's gone from wanting to be a Knight to wanting Happily Ever After with his sweetie in a vault.
Anyway, I'm blocking anyone who says Maximus is boring. He's not boring, you're just racist.
just found out a bunch of people on reddit hate maximus for letting titus die meanwhile i was cheering like it was a football game. people say they love neutral karma characters until they get one.
