Leonard Leo’s Federalist Society has packed the courts full of far-right judges who will block all things good on bullshit grounds (see: Matthew Kacsmaryk and birth control; the Supreme Court overturning student loan forgiveness because “originalism”).

“Stop telling me to vote, it does nothing” bitch, right wingers spent *50 years* participating in elections and now it’s harder to vote, the judiciary is packed, and your school board has an extremist slate on the ballot. tumblr has an AI toggle you should turn on to prevent your work being shared with training models/etc! it's under settings (gear icon) & then visibility.

So Tumblr decided to make opting out of "AI" training extremely unobvious, even if you're paying for it

While I do get the "if you're not paying for it, you're the product" end of things, I am paying for Tumblr. So it is very disappointing that, even as a subscriber, I only learned about the ability to opt out because of networks I have elsewhere.

@staff FYI: I am reconsidering re-upping my subscription when it ends.

Anyway, for everyone, here's how you opt out. You have to go to your blog-specific settings:

Under Visibility, you have to toggle on "Prevent third-party sharing." And you can only do this on desktop, unless they've pushed a mobile update within the past few days 🫠

Very, very disappointed at how oblique Tumblr chose to make this. And glad that I've been watermarking my higher-quality shots all along, even if it's made them harder to enjoy.
