Meet Nirvana!
Tumblr media
A ferocious feral!
He took up residence under my house, so I set out a trap with tuna. After multiple times of him eating the bait and getting away, he was finally caught and brought inside!
He's still really skittish, but allows pets from time to time.
He is looking for a quiet home, preferably with other cats he can learn from.

Meet Cujo!
Tumblr media
He was just rescued from a bad situation where he severely neglected in his welfare. He was allowed to roam the streets with no supervision and was nearly getting hit on a daily basis, as well as sleeping outside with no shelter, no matter the weather, with only a few scraps of carpet to call his bed. When his "owners" were confronted about this, they said that if he gets hit, it would be his own fault, as he had grown up on the streets and should know better. Also that he was "an outside dog" and that he knows to go under their house when it gets too cold or rains.
Thankfully he's with me now and will spend the rest of his life as a happy, spoiled puppy! I have already started working on getting him caught up on vaccines that he should have received, as well as training that should have been started when he was a puppy.
He is severely undersocialized and has major people anxiety, as well as being nonpotty trained and having no comprehension of basic commands. After a few days of daily routine and one day of focused training, he has started to learn sit, lay down, leave it, go on (go to his bed), bedtime, and go inside.
He also seems to have no clue what to think of certain things. He doesn't seem to understand how to play, he doesn't know what to do with toys, and he seems rather confused about sleeping in a bed. Rocky has taught him how to play a bit within the past couple days, as well as started to get him a bit interested in toys, however Cujo has convinced Rocky to sleep on floor, rather than the other way around.
I was a bit nervous about taking him in, since he's never been properly socialized to cats, but luckily he's doing really well. He's extremely interested in the cats, but he only wants to be friends. The few that have looked past his size have taught him that headbutts means friendship. Which often ends up with a cat getting knocked over. 😅 (But they don't seem to mind too much.) He's certainly a lot more gentle than Rocky, who has to get told to leave the cats alone a lot because he likes to play rough.

An acquaintance of mine (friend of a friend) raised an opposum and kept him as a pet, however he recently decided that taking care of him properly was too much work and was going to release him without any rewilding.
I stepped in and said that I would take him. Hopefully he can be rewilded and released, however that will depend on how comfortable he is around people and his health.
Not sure how healthy he is yet (looking into vets that will accept wildlife), however pet opposums often suffer from obesity and metabolic bone disease. He certainly isn't obese (he's actually underweight), but he doesn't seem to move around much, so I'm worried about MBD.
His temperament is more what I'm worried about. He is extremely friendly and tame. He is skittish and startles easily, but that's normal for most opposums. If he were to be released, I'd be worried that he would go up to people for food or attention.
Anyway,
TDLR: I now have an opposum, and hopefully he can go onto be wild, but not sure yet.

Sad to say that Dragon has passed away. He ran out the door and instead of following him to catch him, I foolishly assumed he'd be fine and come back in after using the bathroom.
Instead, he wandered too close to the road and some idiot ran the stop sign at the corner and hit him. He died instantly.
This is why I advocate for inside cats. Even a split second can go wrong.

Rocky picked up ringworm from somewhere, so now everybody has to get a stinky sulfur bath. 😖
Well at least it's time for their monthly flea baths anyways.

Word of advise from a former petco employee to new pet owners, take any information given by a chain pet store employee with a grain of salt. Rodents, reptiles, invertebrates, birds, and fish have very specific requirements, it's unreasonable to expect one person to know all of them. Employees are there to make a pay check, and that means getting you to buy as much as possible. Despite what the company might say, the well being of animals is not the main goal. And while we're on this topic, just because a pet store sells a product does not mean it's good for animals.

Dragon and Eclipse love my new impulse rescues.
Tumblr media
Meet Sunbeam and Moonbow!
Tumblr media
I saw them listed for free on Craigslist while browsing for good deals on pet supplies and, considering that free rodents often end up as "teaching opportunities" for children or snake food and end up dying prematurely, I felt like I needed to get them out of that situation.
If anyone knows about gerbil care, please share with me. I want to give these two the best lives as possible. I will be researching care on my own as well.
(Note: I do NOT encourage impulsively getting pets with no prior research or just because they look cute. I only did this because of their situation and I have a special soft spot for rodents, as they are disliked by many people)

Just needs a good coat of paint and a bit of decor and it should be looking great!
As you can see, the cats already love it.

Meet Hex!
Tumblr media
A quiet tsundere.
Hex likes to act like he doesn't like you. But when you're not looking, he will snuggle with you or groom you. He's very calm and prefers a nice nap compared to running around with other kittens his age. He's 5 months, but very small.
He is looking for his forever home with someone who doesn't mind just hanging out. He does well with other cats and tolerates dogs.

Meet Magic!
Tumblr media
Longest tail around!
Magic was abandoned by his previous owners to fend for himself. Being declawed, he didn't stand much of a chance again the bigger, stronger ferals in the area. Luckily he met me!
He spent a long time terrified of other cats due to being picked on, but he has slowly come to realize that the cats here want nothing more than to be his family. He still doesn't like to play with them, but he will allow quiet snuggling.
He loves people and will gladly snuggle up in your bed with you.
He is a current resident of my household, though will go to a new home if the right person comes along. He dislikes dogs, though is learning to tolerate other cats. He would do best as a single cat or in a home with calm cats.

Meet Lucy!
Tumblr media
Ball of fluff and anxiety!
Lucy is an absolute sweetheart, but is extremely anxious and has allergies. She will scratch due to her allergies and overgrooms due to her anxiety, so she often looks somewhat scrappy.
Many attempts have been made to get her to take medication for these, however it is impossible to force meds on her and she will quickly figure out if you've tried to hide it in food. Calming collars/difusers, allergy shampoos, and semi-regular baths have improved her habits, though she still has bald patches.
She is a permanent resident of my household and is 13 years old. She loves babies and is a good foster mama for any kittens that come home.

Meet Dragon!
Tumblr media
Biggest himbo alive!
He demands attention from anyone and won't take no for an answer. He is also the dumbest orange I have ever met and doesn't seem to understand feline language.
He was born with back legs that work together instead of on their own, so he walks a bit funny. He still gets around just as well as anyone else, though. Instead of running, he bunny hops instead.
He is the first cat that I've met who has separation anxiety. He can't stand for me to be out of his sight and refuses to move from the front door when I leave to go somewhere. He goes with me whenever he can and enjoys a nice long walk with his harness and leash. Thinking about training him for bike rides so he can come with more often.
He is a permanent resident of my household and is always first to greet any newcomers. He demands friendship whether they want it or not!

Meet Milonia!
Tumblr media
A hunter for both mice and attention!
Milonia loves pets and snuggles, though doesn't always appreciate company. She's shy around new people, but warms up pretty quickly.
She has a bad hip, but she doesn’t let that stop her! She climbs and runs just as well as any other cat.
Milonia is a current resident, though would go to a new home if the right person came along. She tolerates other cats, though she would probably do best as a single cat. She enjoys being around dogs and is happy to go on leashed walks. She is 2 years old.

Meet Asher!
Tumblr media
She's shy and up high!
Asher loves attention, but hates people. An interesting combination, but she manages to make it work. You have to sneak up on her to pet her, but once she turns around and notices just who's loving on her, she'll be gone!
She likes to climb and is one of the few that actually uses the climbing wall that's being worked on. She's 6 months old.
She is looking for her forever home with someone who doesn't mind a cat that mainly just wants to be looked at. She loves other cats, but isn't fond of dogs. She would do best in a multi-cat home.
