im the psychotic wilbur anon (forgot to note im paranoid schitzo and i see myself so much in him ANYWAYS) BUT CWILBUR BPD FOR THE WORLD. (< ALSO BPD.) hottest take is that him and quackity are bpd4bpd and a huge part of their relationship is a learning curve figuring out how to navigate communication with each other and each others splits and such. i also think that wilbur tends to black split on HIMSELF more often, and quackity tends to black split on OTHERS more often. i also think that wilbur white splitting on quackity would be a whole nother thing they have to deal with, with wilbur suddenly being like "you are literally god to me and the only person who loves and cares about and understands me you are the greatest human being alive please let me worship you i love you so much" and quackity just being like "woag dude" LIKE. also im so so so for real wilbur has so much paranoid schitzo swag i dont know how to explain that this man is fucking TEXTBOOK paranoia and he has so many paranoid anxiety habits that make me feel insane. i think he always makes sure to lock the door and check the lock like six times when he comes home and he cant sleep at night if hes alone in the house so he barely slept in paradise and didnt sleep right until he moved in with quackity, i think he has really severe paranoia about imposters and intruders and also barely slept and was constantly on high alert in pogtopia and he could only really sleep when quackity visited or if tommy or technoblade shared a mat with him, i think he also has delusions of grandeur that he has to deal with a lot and reality checking him can be really dangerous especially coupled with his bpd because he then SNAPS to black splitting on himself so hard he makes himself sick, ohhhh cwilbur my sickly man i adore you so sorry for being insane in your inbox

(Ok so as a disclaimer obviously headcanons are personal and there's no wrong ones and you're valid for reading it this way)

With Wilbur I very much agree, but I don't see bpd in Quackity tbh. It more so looks like ADHD alongside shit like abandonment issues, being invalidated his entire life, being generally overworked and having no healthy outlet for his feelings, having trouble identifying said feelings in the first place, etc - all of which are very common in/characteristic of ADHD. I don't remember him ever splitting. His shitty love life makes sense with ADHD too - deficiency of dopamine makes it very easy to mistake the dopamine boost from "new person to talk to" for a crush (believe me). Hypersexuality is also common in ADHD, as well as emotional dysregulation, alexithymia (difficulty/inability to identify one's own emotions), overstimulation, shutdowns, etc, which can occasionally resemble splitting, but is very different, and works through exhaustion and frustration rather than delusions. Various types of paranoia as well as heightened irritability are also very common, especially when your senses are clouded by sensory/information/emotional overstimulation. And especially the splitting outwards part just doesn't sit right with me - maybe i missed a stream or sth but I haven't seen anything like that in him. Furthermore I'd actually say he generally points negative feelings/breakdowns etc inwards for the most part - and when ADHD is being pointed inwards it usually leads exactly to developing/heightening shit like paranoia, rejection sensitivity, hypersexuality, emotional dysregulation, alexithymia, etc. He can snap and isolate himself, but it's very different to splitting. ALSO - very important part - Quackity doesn't exhibit mania episodes. He occasionally exhibits the type of hyperactivity and excitement representative of ADHD, but it's never this state of delirium with feelings of grandeur, delusions, etc. Wilbur does exhibit mania episodes - pretty heavily at that - and the contrast makes it pretty apparent that Quackity's case is different.

THAT BEING SAID I don't have bpd, so for a perspective from someone who does, here's a rant from @octobre-ackedia: <<On so many levels, Quackity doesn't show bpd symptoms. Not all abandonment issues are borderline personality disorder. I don't think I need to say it, but bpd takes over the entire life of a person, it's not just trauma. And I don't really have much to elaborate on with the ask, mostly showing Wilbur's bpd traits but that's for an entirely different rant, and I need to chill out. Quackity doesn't black split on others. It was not shown a single time. He slowly loses trust in people, he builds walls, but that's not splitting. He doesn't start to irrationally hate everyone around himself, think that people are just cruel and bad, and more importantly don't care about him, suddenly becoming aggressive towards them. He backs off a little bit more with each disappointment in people around him, ending up not so much hating, as avoiding human relationships. He doesn't start believing he is some sort of a saviour for the world and can build a perfect country, or that he doesn't need anyone for that. He starts a project and might go overboard with it, but it's never this... aggressive as with bpd. With the 9 most visible symptoms, he has maybe 3 of them, which are all clear reactions to specific situations. Unstable relationships? Schlatt became an abuser, Karl and Sapnap abandoned him, he never really influenced any of that happening. The abandonment issues and feeling of emptiness are simple reactions to that trauma. His moves are calculated, he doesn't really show any mood swings, he has a quite clear image of himself, he doesn't experience any suicide ideation or shows extreme examples of self harm/putting himself in danger. And what about the part of splitting when he pushes people away after getting scared of becoming too close? He always stays, in the end. Even when he tried so hard not to get attached to Slime. Where's the white splitting? Where's anything, really. I still stand with the headcanon of them having to navigate a hard relationship, with both of them experiencing severe mental issues, but it's not bpd4bpd. Q is my depressed ADHD bitch, who struggles with trauma.>>

Also I'd say Wilbur's heavily autism coded too - as a bonus it does frequently "strengthen" bpd cause of the type of trauma autistic people experience. Q I see as very much ADHD but I also low-key hc him as somewhere on the spectrum too, though I'm not as heavily set on that

Tldr while Wilbur absolutely clearly has some severe mental issues, Quackity's seem (to me at least) to be more easily and consistently explainable by a combination of ADHD (maybe low support needs autism) and some (pretty damn severe (canonically - looking mainly at all the abandonment + sa hints)) trauma

They're both wordsmiths. They're both politicians that are good with their words, albeit in slightly different ways. The two of them working together for a common goal is LETHAL, especially when involving wordplay and manipulation (even with the negative connotations, but c'mon. When you're good with words, that's just kinda how it goes). Quackity's a conman, Wilbur a skilled writer and poet, and both of them have a history of giving speeches and otherwise public speaking skills.

That being said, they're super good at manipulating their outward presentations, particularly with how they speak to people.

The kicker?

They can't do that nearly as well with each other. They have decades behind them of manipulating their words, of pressing things into their outward shells to appear certain ways, but they just cannot hide how fucking stupid they are for one another.

Insert an old post I saw a while ago that was just "Get yourself a man who despite his lifetime of repressing his emotions can't hide how smitten he is for you." Because that is also them, both of them, at each other.

Quackity's a workaholic.

He would spend nights working instead of sleeping, but eventually, when Las Nevadas was developed enough to mostly run itself, that it isn't just work. He could never truly sleep, never wanted to fall asleep, scared of his own mind when not focused on something, only sometimes pushing himself to rest through alcohol or pure exhaustion.

Wilbur on the other hand never had issues falling asleep. It came to him naturally, or maybe it was the constant exhaustion (especially after revival). He could never really sleep though. He would fall asleep, but not rest, half conscious most of the time, or experiencing terrible nightmares and waking up in the middle of the night.

Inspired by your recent art, Quackity would sometimes just stare at sleeping Wilbur. But, Wilbur would often stare at sleeping Quackity in the morning, admiring his lover when he's all soft and calm, and thinking of ways to surprise him with something nice when he wakes up. Maybe he should make him breakfast.

Ok so I love this cause I absolutely adore the "opposites attract" HCs with Q but it'd always be like "well they both definitely have sleep issues" but this is a way to have both and like that's a major slay

Three little hcs regarding their sleeping habits: 1. they both have a tendency to wake up when the other does, just automatically - they're just synchronised (most of the time at least one of them falls right back asleep tho); 2. Wilbur's weak sleep is significantly worse when Quackity's still working - like, he will finally come to bed and Wil's asleep but then Q sits down on the bed (quietly as fuck) and Wilbur's like "hey"; 3. they switch around their sleeping positions, but Wilbur absolutely loves being the small spoon - partly cause he's always cold, but mainly cause he wasn't held enough as a kid/hj

Aaaand in the spirit of the ask, a little headcanon that's tied up with this (plus more at the end):

Common one, but I'll elaborate - Quackity's warm, Wilbur's cold. So, of course Wilbur's cold after revival cause his body's kinda fucked up and all that. Quackity - for a normal human (or a normal animal hybrid I guess idk works with duck too) consistently has a pretty high body temperature. He prefers sleeping mostly undressed (maybe with shorts on but that's not a guarantee/lh), he usually has to unbutton his shirt a bit lower than standard (I mean he's also a whore but it's a 2 in 1 y'know), etc etc.

Now, with Schlatt that resulted in limited cuddling even in the honeymoon phase cause the other also had a higher body temperature, and they'd just end up sweaty and uncomfortable.

With Eret the relationship started with a generic, platonic, positive message ("you matter ♡ -Eret" which they gave out to people in general just as a nice gesture, but nothing romantic) and ended with Q alone at the altar, so it's probably safe to say that didn't really come up.

With Karl and Sapnap though his body temperature was both too much, and not enough - Sapnap, as a demon hybrid, was much warmer, so with him cuddling wasn't really the most comfortable long-term, and while Karl was slightly on the colder side, Quackity wasn't as warm as Sapnap, so Karl would mostly cling to the latter. They'd try to make it all "even", but the emotional and physical distance was still noticeable.

And then there's Wilbur.

In pogtopia they didn't really cuddle much, but whenever they touched shoulders or leaned against each other Quackity noticed that Wilbur would frequently lean in for just a second longer than normal. This came back 10x stronger after revival. With a lot of Wilbur's nerves and blood vessels fucked up, he's pretty cold most of the time. The first time they cuddle he absolutely sinks into the embrace, making a comment about how nicely warm the other is. Quackity doesn't expect it to hit him as hard as it does. He giggles, slightly flustered, and dismisses it as Wilbur just being colder. From then on it repeats, and soon enough Quackity returns the favour by unintentionally hitting Wilbur with something along the lines of "you're like, the perfect temperature". See, Wilbur's always been on the colder side. He'd hear comments about how cold his hands were - not to even mention post revival - and he never really thought much of it, until Quackity's comment just hit him like a ton of bricks, and he just felt so perfectly in place in Q's arms. They just form the perfect temperature equilibrium; not too warm, not too cold - just perfect.

Little bonus: Quackity starts occasionally taking a jacket or sth with him even though he doesn't need it but he knows Wilbur will probably get cold (and need a second jacket).

Another little bonus that connects this HC to a different one about Quackity having sensory issues. VERY tldr is that sometimes he just gets this intense physical discomfort in his limbs (AuADHD moment), and only way to lessen it is intense stretching, OOOORR using Wilbur as his personal ice bag. There'll be nights where Wilbur will try to move his foot cause "it's probably too cold and bothering Q" just for Quackity to "scold" him for moving it cause it was pressing perfectly into his calf and keeping him from losing his mind cause of sensory issues.

Also they both have food sensitivities, but Q's are more broad, and sometimes they'll spend hours arguing(/lovingly) over what to get on pizza, or when they go to a new food place sometimes Wilbur will just look at Quackity who's staring at the idk olives he accidentally ordered in his food (cause he didn't know the dish contained them) and he will just silently slide over his plate so that his boyfriend can peacefully pick all of them out and give them to Wilbur. When Wilbur encounters food sensitivities - say, in a restaurant - Quackity will go full Karen mode and make sure his boyfriend gets only the food he wants.

Continuing the topic of mental health, sometimes Wilbur will struggle with hygiene during depressive episodes, to which Quackity will either motivate him with showering together(/nsx), a shared bath, if he's doing worse, or in the worst case scenario he'll help him clean himself up with a damp cloth (no judgement, no comments even, just love and support)

like cwilbur would have a whole book where he writes songs, poems, letters (that he wont ever sent) about quackity and sometimes drawings of him if he feels confident enough, he’ll write all of this while he sits across a river where you can see the needle and he’ll be like “i wonder what q is doing right now” and somehow is still conviced that Quackity is his rival and he hatesss him so muchhhh he cant bear it!!

Also times when Cwilbur cant directly meet cQ because hes in a meeting or the man is nowhere to be found cWilbur would disturb his employees and ask about cQuackity just so he can hear ppl talk about him and he gets a mysterious sensation that feels like giddyness everytime he gets the chance to talk or hear about quackity, but hell say to himself “this is for future planning to DESTROY quackity i must gather all these tiny little infos about quackity and talk about him to his employees while twirling my hair because im going to DESTROY him w this info”

Cwilbur would literally b textbook school girl crushing kicking his feet screaming into his pillow thinking abt Q and how alive he makes him feel or other words ‘butterflies’ and realize that hes THINKING about Quackity and be like “Oh shit…”

ok so as a tntduoer i aggressively defend ctntduo to haters that rhey absolutely could have a healthy relationship and i dont need to explain y to U ofc but i also acknowledge that they were bad for each other in canon and it would take a lot of time for things to work

basically imo i see that quackity would be the "vampire" in the duo for sucking the relationship dry initially. quackity had the worst most bloodsucking relationship with schlatt and then felt like karlnap didn't care and think and remember abt him enough.

with his rivalry with wilbur he'd absolutely lash out at any chemistry and infatuation they have initially, bc he'd want any new attempt at a relationship (especially with wilbur) to have the other person prove themselves worthy by being willing to sacrifice everything for cq like quackity had in his past relationships (see: cquackity proposing wilbur becomes his vice president, a mirror to his relationship with schlatt) he'd repeat patterns by schlatt repeatedly convincing himself that it's a defense bc wilbur was a man of power like schlatt too- who rlly did spit at the mere suggestion of being a vice president- i know it's canon that he's a mimicry of all those who have harmed him n the server in the past but god is the reflection with his relationship with wilbur neat.

oh there's definitely lots of parallels between tnt duo and Q's past relationship

both these bitches need constant reassurance ngl they're very mentally ill - Q would definitely push Wilbur to see if he actually cares about him (not just his ass/hj), but also Wilbur definitely would "act out" and be insufferable as a desperate, silent cry for reassurance that he is in fact loved and he isn't too much

Also he prefers losing cause it's not actually losing if he clearly has no idea how to play, but it does add insult to injury if he makes Quackity lose while losing himself

Also also no-one expects him to actually pay if they're paying for money. At first they did, but after a couple times of him simply refusing cause he has no money, while also refusing to leave, they don't expect anything from him

Wilbur does not know how to play poker, hes begged Q to teach him, Q refuses too because he thinks is its funny

(Q thinks he looks pretty sitting with him at a poker table instead of against him)

Semi related: I think Q has 100% bet a night with Wilbur in a game knowing he was gonna win just to mess with Wilbur a bit

I hear you, I love this, but I also raise you:

Wilbur doesn't know poker, but he knows Quackity

He doesn't win, but he takes Quackity down with him. He knows Q's tells, and while it doesn't always work, cause Quackity's legitimately good at it, often he still manages to tell when the man is bluffing

Wilbur refuses to learn to play, cause then Quackity would be able to do the same to him. They've seen so much of each other, all possible sides, at their most vulnerable and most closed off - bluffing works sometimes, but there's no-one else who knows them as well as they know each other. They are each other's weaknesses.

They'll be playing with like, idk maybe Sam, Foolish, and Fundy, with whom Q usually wins, but then if Wilbur joins them he will actively comment if Q's bluffing or not, just to mess with him. They'll try asking - maybe even bribing him - and he'll either say incorrect tells (cause he loves messing with everyone), or he'll just be like "it's just obvious, idk what to tell you" (cause in all fairness he himself doesn't even know it all that much, it's just intuition)

After a while Quackity learns to trick Wilbur, but the man still manages to read him a good half of the time.

Tldr, yeah, Quackity absolutely prefers it when Wilbur's just his pretty arm candy, cause the alternative is him losing with people he'd normally easily win
