arden, my love !!!!! sorry for taking like 15 years to respond, i suffer from chronic brain rot <3 i honestly don’t read as much literary fiction as i wish i did but here:

(1) literally anything sally rooney -- sally rooney should honestly be like a genre of her own because it’s out of this world~ i especially recommend reading her short stories bc the things she does in like 2000 words ... unmatched. ALSO THEY ARE FREE TO READ

as the covid-19 situation in india worsens with there being over 350k new cases daily, india’s hospital infrastructure is crumbling. there are no beds available, with sick patients having to get treatments in lobbies or waiting rooms and two people are being hooked up to a single oxygen tank. cremation sites have started to burn bodies on the streets because of the sheer volume of death. both hospitals and cremation sites are so overwhelmed that they aren’t able to give bodies to the right family, so when families try to say their last goodbyes, it’s to a stranger.

the government is doing almost nothing to prevent the spread of the virus, with politicians holding enormous rallies or encouraging people to go on religious pilgrimages. furthermore, they are actively working to take down negative reporting of the covid-19 crisis from domestic journalists on twitter.

here is a google doc with links to donate to ngo’s and non profits that are working to provide india with medical equipment and support, as well as individuals who need financial support with paying their hospital bills or longer lasting covid-19 symptoms.

here is a twitter thread compiling donation links for more nonprofits and individuals.

because of the currency exchange rate, relatively small donations of one dollar or one euro can help immensely. these are the exchange rates as of april 29, 2021: one dollar is equal to 74.14 rupees, one euro is 89.82 rupees.
