If you claim to be a feminist and you shame girls for wanting to do traditional things like take their husband’s last name or be a house wife then you are doing it all completely wrong.
Feminism isn’t an elite group who defeats gender norms, it’s a group who accepts ALL women’s choices.

July 2014 Goals
I know, I know. It's still June but I like to make monthly goals and I didn't make any for June so he are my goals for the the rest of June and the month of July: 1.) Exercise 3-5x each week (weights and cardio) 2.) Stay within my points values for the week (I joined weight watchers 5 weeks ago) 3.) Prep my dinners each week (did this last week which made a stressful week a little easier) 4.) Thoroughly enjoy my vacation time...active all day every day. I'm trying to be more active overall this summer, but my upcoming vacation time is definitely needed.

"How Can I Tell if My Weights Are Heavy Enough?"
There’s a very simple trick. Basically, pick up a bunch of free weights with one hand until you find the heaviest one that you can still, well, pick up and do a move with. (So, one bicep curl, if that’s what you’re going for. Or one chest press. Whatever move you’re hoping to practice with). “Once you know the heaviest one you can lift, you’ll want to choose a weight for your actual reps that’s around 60 to 70 percent of the weight of your heavy one,” says Justice.
So let’s say that you can lift a 15-pound weight in one arm at least once without falling over, but a 20-pounder is too much.  Do the math: 65 percent of 15 pounds is 9.75 pounds, so try doing your reps with 10-pound free weights. Worried that’s too heavy or will get you jacked and bulky? Seriously, don’t. Read this inspiring piece on The Beauty of Lifting Heavy Weights, and then check out 4 Myths About Strength-Training, Busted! and 7 Tips for Strength-Training Newbies. Feel better? Great. Now back to the question at hand.
Keep in mind that how many reps you do can be just as important as how heavy your weights are, explains Justice. If you want to increase strength, go for 1-8 reps per set. If you want to build muscle, go for 5-12 reps per set. And if you want to improve muscle endurance, go for 12-20 reps per set.
"I’m an advocate of the 8-15 rep sets, as they help develop a combo of strength and muscular endurance," says Justice. "When you go over the 20-rep range, you hit a point of diminished returns"—especially if your form is flailing.

Black bean brownies
I’ve been looking for “good for you” recipes…well more specifically for sweets, because i will never give that up. That, and pizza.
I’ve been wanting brownies since my husband got me some gourmet brownies for Valentine’s day, so I decided to make some this weekend;and substitute the eggs and oil with pureed pumpkin.
In the process of googling the logistics of adding pumpkin puree to brownie mix, I found that the same can be done using black beans, and it gives areally rich and fudge-like feel, plus you get some protein and fiber.
All the photos I’ve seen look good and the reviews are favorable so I’m going to try tonight, though I’m still a bit skeptical….

Ok, so on Saturday my family and I purchased a tub of Italian beef and some sandwich rolls for dinner…for those who aren’t from Chicago and may not know what an Italian beef is…it’s similar to a French anjue(don’t think that spelling is correct) sandwich.
Anyway, we had some leftover, and i decided to take some to make a sandwich for lunch today.
I eat lunch at my desk, but i needed to assemble my sandwich,so I did so in the break room.
Long story short, I’m talking with a co worker (whose pretty healthy) and the first thought that comes to mind is, “why did this person have to see me eating THIS for lunch today?!”
Lol.
I had to write about this while fresh on my mind…I mean, why did my mind immediately go to that?
Why did I worry that this co worker saw me preparing a ‘fiyah’ beef with hot peppers, and not the pot roast and cauliflower “mac” n cheese i ate yesterday, or the turkey loaf with kale and zucchini I ate on Friday?
Why?
Probably because i didn’t want the disapproving look, like, “well, looks like her diet is over”…idon’t really think anyone cares or is paying attention to my eating habits…but I’m obviously paranoid about it.
Maybe it’s my own self doubt that I’ll plummet back into my 80% Italian beef sandwiches and ice cream all day everyday mentality….
