"Hard to know which in your pyjamas": Bond, Q, and a little revision of masculinity
In thinking about masculinity on film, I’ve been looking at images of brutalized men, and how differently they function depending on the body types of the men involved; my examples are James Bond (as played by Daniel Craig) and Ben Whishaw. I call Bond the “brutalized subject,” and Whishaw the “brutalized object,” because in Bond’s case, the injuries done to his body–some of which he does to himself–tend to give him more power to act, not less; they are proof of his masculinity and strength. In Whishaw’s case, brutalization objectifies, disempowers, and often destroys him.
This is a pretty simplistic dichotomy, but oh so easy to illustrate; I’ll never get through all my examples in an hour. I planned to skip the obvious concluding scene, Craig and Whishaw together in Skyfall, because I thought it’d just be fangirl self-indulgence, and beside the point. But you know what? It’s not beside the point. It is the point. Whishaw and Craig in Skyfall present different versions of the masculinities they usually embody, and those differences are telling.
Sébastien Foucan tries to show Daniel Craig how to get from one room into the next in Casino Royale. “Fuck you, you slippery little French freerunning motherfucker,” Craig says. “And fuck this wall, too.”
(And behind him, waiting for the belt? DEREK JACOBI. Yes. In the year of our lord 1998, Daniel Craig took a belt to Derek Jacobi. Just roll that around in your head for a minute.)
I use any pronouns and do not have ANY preferences.
I like using any because I’m still working out my gender situation and it also means that I literally can’t get misgendered, so fuck those people who do that on purpose LOL
I tend to use he/she/they for myself most of the time, but just because that’s what most people understand, especially off the internet. Neos are cool though, if you want to use them for me, you can. It’s all part of “ANY”.
Again, no preferences, I don’t care if people use a certain pronoun more than others. Everything is fine.
I also have no preference on gendered terms like “King”, “Queen” or any other. You can use whatever fits best in your eyes, I don’t mind at all!
One preference is that I am not a fan of people using “it” to refer to me, that’s personal preference as it feels a bit dehumanizing for me personally. If you want to use “it” for yourself, that’s awesome, 100% valid!
Love you all! Thank you for wanting to be respectful of my boundaries. Please don’t get in arguments with others about my pronouns because it’s not worth fighting about, I don’t care about my pronouns that much myself. I like the non-labeled life lol <3
I don't understand the concept of hating "like spamming" or "reblog spamming". As someone with ADHD and hyperfocus, if you go onto my blog and get lost in the sauce enough to practically reblog the last 5 days worth of stuff I reblogged then good on you my dude my friend my bean, please keep it up I'm glad you like it have a cookie fam, you deserve it cause we have the same taste and I feel like my blog is a public library of stuff I find entertaining so enjoy the browse.
Okay you know how some characters have chats that help them in some way? Like Techno's Voices, Phil's crows, Niki's diary, etc. What if cDream has lil dream blobs and they're his helpers around the server? Since ccDream watches streams a lot, maybe they're like his lil spies who tell him all the gossip... So server veterans are freaked out/scared by the blobs while newbies are like 'awww what a cutie!' But ever since cDream got arrested, the blobs just hang out with cRanboo and cTechno who take care of them. cTechno smuggled one into the prison so cDream wouldn't be so lonely, tho.
I love the idea that old members are freaked out by the blobs, since they’re basically c!dream’s little spies. The new members dont know that because they havent been there when c!dream was out, and the blobs would climb up onto his shoulder and tell him what everyone else was doing.
