Miracle Worker | Dean Winchester Series
Quinn Sanders loved her job as a trauma Doctor, but when her path crosses with the Winchester brothers, nothing will ever be normal again.
Part 1 - Intro
“Help! Someone help, please he’s been shot,” an overly tall man yelled as he came barreling through the Emergency Room doors at full speed with a slightly shorter, just as rugged man barely clinging to his shoulder.
Her first instinct was to jump into action, immediately pulling an empty crash cart from the nearest room and running right for the two bloody messes before her.
“Lay him here. What’s his name?” She asked, only glancing up at the longer haired man.
“D-Dean,” he stammered, helping him onto the cart as the man let out a soft groan. “His name is Dean.”
“Okay, Dean? Hey, can you look at me for a minute?” she cradled the mans head in her hands steadily, as his eyes fluttered open slightly. If it weren’t for the current predicament this man was currently in, she would have complimented his green eyes.
“Where is the wound? Did you get the bullet out?” She asked, following the blood patterns on Dean’s shirt and lifting it to inspect the damage.
“He was just walking to his car.. To his car,” the other man said through a shaky breath. “Of all the things,” he breathed as a tear fell from his cheek.
She reached out and touched his shoulder, grabbing his attention. “Hey, focus. The bullet. Did it go through?”
He stiffened and wiped his cheek. “No.”
“Addison, we’re going to need an O.R., asap.”
“I’m on it Quinn.”
She sighed, moving the cart from the tall mans grasp. “Diana? Can you come take care of-“ she paused looking up at him again. “I’m sorry what’s your name?”
“Sam and I’m fine, I promise.” He stated matter of factly as blood dripped from his forehead.
“Put Sam in a triage bed and check him for a concussion. Addison, where are we on the room?”
“O.R. 2 just opened up, I called Dr. Lash for assistance,” she reported as Quinn nodded, rushing towards the now open doors.
That was the first time Doctor Quinn Sanders had run into the Winchester brothers. Three years ago, they came barreling into her life and had vanished just as quickly. Which is why she was absolutely stunned to see them stroll into her Hospital in suits touting FBI badges.
“This is Agent Senatra, I’m Agent Joel, FBI. We’re here to talk with the coroner about the latest deaths-“ Dean began, before noticing Quinn’s presence.
“Gentlemen,” she greeted, placing her stethoscope over her neck and crossing her arms.
“Doctor Sanders,” Dean grinned widely. “A long way from Massachusetts aren’t you?” he questioned.
Quinn let out a small laugh, “I could say the same.” The receptionist behind the counter sat patiently, trying to determine if her services were still needed while quickly checking out the men in front of her. “I got this Tammy,” Quinn quipped, tapping the counter and motioning for the two men to follow her down the hall.
“Now what, pre-tell are two of my most mysterious patients doing dressed as FBI agents in Atlanta, asking around about dead bodies?” She stopped once they were out of the foot traffic.
Sam swallowed, glancing at Dean as if to check and see who was going to do the talking.
“Mysterious?” Dean questioned, quirking an eyebrow.
“You had a bullet through your chest, multiple fractured ribs, a major surgery to remove it and you disappeared from your room not even a day later,” she scoffed. “And you,” she pointed to Sam. “You had a severe concussion and a fractured collar bone and I’m supposed to believe you both just signed yourselves out?”
The two men looked at each other again, unsure of how to proceed. “Oh and let’s not forget that you’re definitely not FBI,” she said with a stern face.
“We were under cover when you saw us,” Dean stated matter of factly as Sam frantically nodded.
She hummed, nodding her head before huffing and rolling her eyes. “Yeah, no. Sorry. I don’t believe you. Try again, why are you here looking for dead bodies?”
“Listen Doc, if I had time to talk this out with you I would have asked you to dinner, but we’re on a bit of a time crunch here and there’s lives at stake,” Dean grumbled, giving up his act.
Sam quickly followed suit, their demeanors changing quickly. “Quinn?” Sam said, grabbing her attention, “there’s something going on in this city. Something..” he paused trying to think of the right words.
“Not human,” she finished. “I know.”
The two men grew silent, looking at each other in joined confusion.
“You know?” Dean asked, shaking his head.
“I know a lot more about what goes bump in the night than you’d like to believe,” Quinn grinned as she snuck a glance back at the two still dumbfounded men behind her, ushering them further down the hallway.
“So do you happen to know what’s going on now then?” Sam asked, breaking the silence that had formed around them.
She shook her head and sighed, this had been eating away at her for the last week since bodies started to turn up. “No, I’ve never seen anything like this.” She opened the door to the morgue and the two followed closely behind her. “There’s a fair share of weird things that happen in Atlanta as is, but this-” she paused as she opened the door to one of the storage spaces and pulled on the gurney. “This is next level.” Quinn looked up at the two men on the other side of the gurney before removing the cloth covering the body between them.
“It’s a kid?” Dean stated more as a question as he looked down at a young girl, maybe five years old.
“They’ve all been kids,” Quinn sighed.
Sam stepped forward and examined the girl before them. He gently lifted her upper lip and pressed on her gum line, revealing a sharp fang that wasn’t there before. “Vampires..”
“Kid vamps? Now that’s a new low,” Dean scoffed.
“Do you have any idea how they’ve died?” Sam asked, glancing up at Quinn.
“Blood poisoning?” She said, still a little unsure of what she had found as well.
Dean’s eyes widened, “what are they poisoned with?”
“From what I can tell, they’ve all had a higher than average mixture of carbon and nitrogen in their blood at the time of death.”
“That makes no sense,” Sam states, clearly confused. “There’s only so many ways to put down something like this. And why children?”
“Well Agents,” Quinn said, crossing her arms over her chest, “I figured you were here to answer those questions for me, since, you know. You’re the Winchesters.”
---------
This is just an intro to give you a feel for how this series will play out. I have high hopes for it. Also, it should be known there’s no specific point in the series where this would take place. If I had to guess is pre-Chuck being the worst, but Cass is a part of the crew so he will be making an appearance later on.
I’m not planning on writing into the storyline that’s been created already and this could easily stand on it’s own, especially once developed but I wanted to take a stab at a beginning.
Let me know what you think!
