literally everywhere here has upped their prices more and more over the past couple years, so how the heck does saizeriya stay so darn cheap?

i just went and had delicious veggie pasta and a side. anywhere else, the side would have been at least 500 yen (and I bet it would have been a smaller portion too!). and the pasta would have been at least 1000 probably more. So that's a minimum of a 1500 yen dinner.

Know what I paid at Saizeriya? 840. Like... half what I'd expect anywhere else. And the portion sizes are good!

Even McDonald's here is more expensive. If I went to McDonald's and got a double cheeseburger set, it costs 930 yen now. Used to cost 650. It's not even cheaper to forego the set - for whatever reason buying the set with a drink you don't want is cheaper than buying things individually (a mystery!).

I'm flabbergasted. If everyone's having such a hard time that they've had to almost double their prices, why is Saizeriya still so dirt cheap?

The only cost-saving measure I've seen is that they have fewer servers now because your order by QR code. But pretty much everywhere has tablets on the table or a QR code to order with. (I hate the ones which rely on you having an up to date phone... because I don't. One place I go to has a restaurant phone which they lend to customers who can't use their own to order, but Saizeriya didn't. Of course they took my order by hand like "the old days," but even if that's a normal part of protocol, it does make you feel like an inconvenience... an inconvenience who's spending money at their restaurant 9_9)

My dad was dealing with some mixed feelings so I told him "In therapy when something is too complicated to do a simple 'pro and contra list' we sometimes do an excercise where you imagine all these mixed feelings around a table in some kind of conference, letting each tell their bit and you leading the debate."

What frustrates me with being an "out of sight, out of mind" person is that people tend to love suggesting notepads, diaries, apps, lists, anything that you can write reminders in. But my kind of "out of sight, out of mind" extends to that as well. Truly. If it is not in my sight, it is not in my mind. And you know what happens when you close a book or an app? It is not longer in sight.

#relatable #gotta be diligent about looking at the notes/calendar #but it's so hard bc they just get longer and longer as more stuff piles on esp stuff that won't be due for a few months #like the notepad is there i see it. i open it every day and see it. but it's so LONG that finding notes from 2 mos ago is like #you just gotta hope you remember that those 2 month old notes are still relevant hahahahaha *cry* #in the end your ability to remember IS what matters which sucks because brains suck esp on LOW SLEEP #i want high quality sleep to be made a human right hahahahahahahahahaahahahaa no seriously tho #considering sleep deprivation is a torture tactic... it's not ridiculous
