Ray gets a dream job as an actor, starring as one of the leads in a musical. He’s working alongside Barry ’The Flash’ Allen as the competition for his love interest, which would be great… Except he has to act churlish on camera one moment and fall back to smiles and apologies the next, eager to reassure Barry he actually likes him. The situation gives him emotional whiplash but it’s still a fantastic project, exactly the kind of old-school musical he’s always wanted to do.

He can’t help but enjoy the promotional tour even more, considering it’s just him and Barry a lot of the time. They both get to be themselves in interviews, antagonism free and goofing off - their natural enthusiasm for the project, as well as the genre, shining through to everyone’s benefit. It’s no surprise that he misses it all once it’s over and the movie finally drops.

A funny thing happens though, there’s a vocal section of fans who insist him and Barry had even better chemistry than him and his love interest, lovely as she was. Ray’s kinda pleased to know maybe he wasn’t imagining that spark between them, even if it’s purely likeminds hitting it off.

Then he gets a phonecall from an indie director who’s enthusiastic about a much lower budget musical, one where Ray is cast opposite Barry as his love interest this time. It’d be foolish to give up on another chance to do a musical and there’s really nothing he’d want more than to work with Barry again. At least that’s what he thinks at the time anyhow. What he comes to realize later is a story for another time.

Content should be Barry and Ray centric. Afterall it is a Flashatom event.

Quasi-Platonic/Queer Platonic content welcome! (as long as the focus is not on any romantic pairings and work is Barry/Ray centric)

When uploading to or sharing on Tumblr remember to put FVW2020 in your first three tags and tag us. You can also add it to our A03 collection here.

we have a three day grace period because we understand life is hectic! Please don’t feel obligated to apologise or explain yourself. If the fanwork goes over the three day grace period, we still reblog general flashatom fanworks so you’ll still get lots of love from us! It just won't be included in the master post for the event.

Flashatom + will you marry me

(Sorry this took FOREVER)

The question came as a surprise to Barry. He glanced up at Ray, who was tinkering with something on his desk. Barry sat with his arms rested on the back of a desk chair, watching. He’d been visiting Ray on the Waverider more frequently as their relationship got more serious. “What?”

“Will you marry me?” Ray repeated the question. “Listen,” he moved his own chair a little closer to Barry. “I know I probally should have … I don’t know planned something. But my mom always told me that you just know. I thought I understood that, but having you here in the waverider, especially when we have nights like this where we just– I know.” He squeezed his hands together nervously.

Barry stood and pulled Ray in for a kiss. “Of course I’ll marry you.” It was a quiet engagement– or at least it was until …

“Ray! There you are.” Nate appeared in the lab rather suddenly. “HI Barry. Oh you guys were doing something– I can come back?”

“We were just getting engaged.” Ray wrapped one arm around Barry, his tone light and airy.

“Dude! That’s awesome!” Nate high-fived Ray and pulled them both into a hug.

Barry slipped away to call Iris while the time brothers celebrated Ray’s engagement.
