Anyone else love comparing Marvel and DC?

Not out of any sense of thinking one is better than the other, they both serve different purposes and I love both, but their differences are sometimes so funny. For instance, I was re-reading Civil War and realized that it couldn’t really happen in DC since the universes are so different. Be warned, generalizations ahead as I won’t be accounting for all exceptions!

Iron Man: People need training! They can’t just put on a costume and start fighting!

Batman, with the army of kids he trained + those who were trained by professionals: Wait, you don’t train new heroes?

Like Marvel, despite it being in one city for the most part, don’t really have heroes interacting or training with each other for lengthy periods of time. Of course any team that pops up trains with each other, but they’re not new heroes trained by established heroes (at least, usually not long enough that it’s anything more than a few team-up issues). DC, however, has a lot of legacy heroes, and so new ones are always trained by the previous generation. Heroes that pop up in Gotham generally end up training with a Bat, if not Batman himself. Kryptonians always end up meeting each other and getting help with learning their powers. Amazonians are by definition trained, and if a young hero doesn’t fall into any of those categories, Titans are usually there to train the new generation. Maybe it’s because DC has so many younger heroes compared to Marvel (X-Men being a special case because their job is to literally train and protect mutants) that making sure they were prepared just became the norm otherwise it’d be a mess of children dying, while for Marvel it’s a bit more standalone with every man for themselves.

Y'all don't understand Tim has been my favorite character since I started reading comics (tied with Wally West at least) and as a nerdy introverted black girl he ended up being the person I resonated with the most, not by identity so much as personality. And after realizing I'm bi last year, I started to understand why I absolutely fell in love with queer characters, and I already knew that every POC character has a place in my heart. So for him to be going through the same motions I did last year, wondering why things didn't fit, why I couldn't figure out who I liked until I looked at a girl and understood that my feelings were something more than admiration or friendship. And that for someone proclaimed to be "smart", I could be so dumb as to not recognize my feelings all these years, that the nerves and desire to be close to some girls, that I would get clingy or wonder why I felt jealous when a girl started dating and spending more time away from me, that I could myself blushing and shaking when asked to do something like comb through a cute girl's hair, that I would be so aware of how warm they were when they were close to me (and when he mentioned that in the story I just about screamed). To see Tim go through something like that, even after I thought personality would be the start and end of where I could relate to him, absolutely made me tear up. And to think he's even played by a person of color in Titans! I was satisfied with just having a "smart but occasionally dumb" character around my age to attach to, but now for him to be that much closer feels like something truly special.

Exactly! I blocked both ship tags and I still see it as the most overwhelming topic people are posting about. I just wanna enjoy the content of the show and geek out with others over it, not hear people screaming about a ship that wasn't going to happen. Neither are canon in the end anyway, so I don't see why it matters so much.

I’m seeing a lot of people on here pissed of that Loki, a show that was advertised as being about alternate timelines of characters and moral questions of who is a villain and the nature of free will; was a show about alternate timelines of characters and moral questions of who is a villain and the nature of free will; and not a show about a romance between Loki and Mobius. Marvel didn’t lie to you; you all just are incapable of seeing two people talking to each other without shipping them and thinking that’s what the show is about

Exactly. Clint did nothing wrong, he just exists in the background and had a family. We could've had a Yelena and Natasha AND Kate and Clint pair of duos but writers decided to go with generic nonsense kill-off 😓 Also there's no way I'd want to have to choose to have either female or deaf representation (either Clint himself if they go for that story or Maya who I believe is showing up in his series) when we could've had both.

ngl kinda upset that people are villainizing clint for a decison that natasha made… clint tried to let natasha live SO HARD that he was HALFWAY DOWN THE CLIFF before natasha caught up… so don’t blame clint, blame the shitty writing in endgame :D

Loki spoilers ahead for my friends who haven’t seen it yet. (DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED)

Ok, Loki fandom, I’m seeing a lot of things that are pissing me off. I’ve been seeing them for a while but it’s really annoying so I’m gonna put this here for anyone who might agree with me. If you don’t, then when can have an adult conversation about it, but if your gonna send hate to me, please don’t comment.

NOW FOR MY OPINIONS!

1) The finale was amazing!!!!!!!!

Yes it was predictable, but it was also validating to know that all the clues in the last few episodes weren’t letdowns (like X-Men Pietro in WandaVision). Not to mention Marvel kept this secret so well that I’m shocked it wasn’t leaked. 

I was so happy when I saw Kang there, and we got a bit of his backstory from one of his variants for the new Ant-Man movie. Not to mention we now know how the multiverse got created and it’s very possible either Loki or Sylvie will show up in multiverse of madness.

ALSO this show was written with the IDEA that a season 2 was HAPPENING. (Sorry for the people who knew this, but I’m seeing some posts that makes me think some of us have forgotten this important fact.) I didn’t think the whole story would be wrapped up in a bow like WandaVision or TFATWS. This was gonna tee up a season two like any normal TV series does.

2) Loki kissing Sylvie is not the end of the world for the love of god.

I am Bisexual. Putting this for context concerning the next paragraph.

Loki is Bi meaning he likes men and woman, so it’s not horrible that he kissed Sylvie. Is it strange/cringe to watch Loki kissing a version of himself? A bit, but a) they’re not related nor share the same DNA according to the MCU so stop saying it’s like incest, b) they ARE COMPLETELY different people with different life experiences, and c) it’s not the end of the world; it’s just one of those canon things that you wished never happened like Steve leaving Bucky, at the end of Endgame, for Peggy after Steve went to her funeral, in Civil War. (Or, for Whovians, the whole Timeless-child story arc in Season 12)

Then I saw a post saying it ruined Loki’s character. It didn’t ruin shit! Loki’s character development is still in tack. HELL! HE GAVE UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE KING TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE. AND HE OPENED UP, TRUSTED SOMEONE, AND FELL IN LOVE. It was Sylvie who didn’t trust him. If your gonna be angry at her (as a character the actress is lovely) be angry that she didn’t trust him then fucked up the universe because -ya know- Kang the fucking Conqueror, and not because she kissed him.

I still love his character and I love this show. It’s become my new comfort show.

Not to mention with her kicking him out and us seeing that close shot of him being hurt by this action…I HIGHLY doubt he’s gonna immediately take her back when they cross paths again. Also this was the first step in Marvel’s plan to bring in LGBTQIA+ people from the comics to the big screen; it’s a baby step (for anyone wondering, they made an announcement about this). They’ll get better at it and will eventually represent everyone (or at least that’s my hope).

Plus I don’t know if Mobius is gay or not (in comics or MCU). So there’s that fact too. I get the representation aspect of wanting Loki and Mobius together but maybe that’s just not apart of Mobius’s character. Or maybe Mobius season 2 will have the character development that makes it canon because tbh there’s still a lot about Mobius we don’t know.

P. S. I ship Lokibus but it doesn’t make me hate that it didn’t happen. I knew it probably wasn’t and all of you were getting your hopes up because I didn’t get that vibe off of this pair before I saw everyone on Tumblr shipping them. It’s clearly not where the writers wanna take Mobius’s or Loki’s character this season. However, my feelings with Loki and Sylvie as a couple are complicated because - I’ll admit - I cringed when I watched the kissing scene…but it’s not like Tom Hiddleston is kissing a Tom Hiddleston CGI-ed to look like a woman. That would be weird and concerning. (For more of my thoughts read the beginning of point 2)

I can’t go a whole year with no new Loki content again like 2020…I just - I CAN’T! Not after this gem of a show that only made me love Tom Hiddleston’s acting even more and adore Sylvie and Mobius.

Now again I would like to restate that if you don’t agree with me we can have an ADULT conversation about this. But if your gonna send hate BECAUSE you don’t agree with me - don’t comment. These are my opinions and I’m not trying to force anyone to think like me because of it.
