Had an idea for a game for a bit, basics premise is like something akin to Pokémon mystery dungeon or bugsnax with a sole focus on collection and exploration with a beach makeover
So it would be a one room randomly generated island out on boat with a different goal like find the exit or capture an amount of creatures and escape or plant new sea grass. Before entering your equip two items to three party members. There no level up so it’s based on playing skill. One time is an exploration tool for the overworld like for water or ledges and another is a weapon. Some weapons would be better against other sea creatures. Also there’s a rad encyclopedia for each creature.
After capturing sea creatures they become tame and diversify the island as the hub world
The hub would have some residents each with their own side quest or unlocks new islands for you or how you obtain new gear since money only buys health items.
I really just want a Pokémon game where it’s like wayyy more focused on the biodiversity and capturing them with a sense of visual progression beyond “gym babes and battles”.Just a small slice of life dungeon crawler essentially.
Recently finished a zine, considered to my by first finished product in a presentable form of media.Printed some copies recently so gonna spread some copies around my town.
I never done a zine or fully fleshed out comics so I started a tester, just educational stuff bout jellyfish cuz they’re rad man.
Tried to emulate the vintage school posters with the anatomy. Was kinda cool to realize how much someone has to cram without overbearing the design of the page.
Originally I was gonna make it about cnidarians but I wanted to focus on jellyfish only but I dunno polyps are kinda too rad to have left out completely
I didn’t want to use color yet so I tried to have black background prices to give more visual interest and started to dot the entire page to give it a grainy texture like a “filter”
Rad,since I am printing copies I can offer and mail a physical copy to anyone for like a buck and living in the US
Misc urchin sona spam post,I have been taking a break from art for the sake of posting but I keep doodling in my books as an emotional outlet.I am dysphoric,I am infatuated, and I’m living my youth. And it’s all wonderful.
Finished a collaboration project with friends to make a fictional splatoon band under the genre of ambient music/dreamstep kinda like crumb or sales
Characters (left to right)
-socks (inkling) :omnichord player and affiliated with Paul and the idol of the group, peppy and hyped on tea and coffee
-Paul (jellyfish) :records beach samples and a second ear to mixing, unbelievabtired and leaves food scraps around studio.
-Ricky (Shrimp): master mixed and remixes music samples and recording, absolutely focused on their craft but still has fun with team.
-Foam (urchin):bassist and guitar player and cold from others but still cares, absolutely aloof and stares alot
Got my friends to make their sonas or OCs for the band and I tried to get a grip of them so I don’t have to look back on the photos on my phone (left column art belongs to them thnx tho buds)
Then I got my irl friend to get in on the whole fictional band since he actually knows how to make music.I mean I waaas suppose to jelly by recording beach sound samples but the wind was hard to work with so we made due with *royalty free clips*
Afterwards I went on to make a basic outline of the logo.I tried to get a name to get with the ambience so we either settled with cool blue, true blue,or cool azul but I said cool Blu since it refers to raw meat or like raw fish, added a pink splatter to the logo and I was like “lmaooo this is perfect.
I wanted the colors to be pop and preppy to go with the ocean’s energy but still be mellow on the eyes.I actually took some inspiration by the vibes from animal crossing’s kk bubblegum and Splatoon’s Chirpy Chip’s album cover since both bands had a very tech feel to it.
It’s not exactly the cleanest in the final product in the mp4 file and I need to teach myself a video editing software so it’s not so compressed and having more effects. But still proud I made some small thing came to be.
Splatoon graffiti appreciation from their splatoon 1 art book.I love the graphic work and they all still have a nautical vibe regardless how abstract it gets with their own language.
In homage I made my own mock up splatoon branded logos and stickers based on (left to right) Transit, fisheries, radio station, oil rig.
Mock up stickers are available in link below, only consider purchasing for you’re own interest or graffiti tags.
Alright so here’s the deal,ye? I’m obsessed with splatoon. To be a bit personal I’ve been mildly depressed since I think I have co dependency issues or whatever. To cope, I guess I’ve been really into the ocean and the beach.I know it’s obvious now but it really helps me feel better,my health and my attitude.
So it’s like a comfortable game since it’s literally an oceanic game but super urban and punk instead of the ambient and calm the ocean tends to be given light of.
But anyways game is super fun.If ur not familiar with splatoon it’s basically a Nintendo 3rd person shooter with an emphasis on platform, movement, and music. We stan dedf1sh and Turqoise October.
I am aware that a chunk of people who look at my art came from either my Pokémon fan art (I apologize) or my Copper Red Sea creatures mega post.I do wanna let you new followers that I draw an assortment of things and I don’t pertain to a style/vibe/core.My art may have patterns but I post art I like myself or art I like and want to show.My tumblr is just a direct way for me to speak my mind on my art and ideas since people seem to actually read my blogs.
Besides that disclaimer, yeah I have some thumbnails.I work 6 days a week but there is downtime so I muster up my pens to make whatever pops in my head.New Red Sea mega post will take time though.
Less art blog post and more “here’s how I’ve been post btw:
I have been extremely busy.As in,6 days a week 42 hours a week shifts.I’ve been working with physical paintings and trying to sell them locally and made 60 dollars so far and good connections. After getting all this money and hours I never asked I got enough for a laptop to actually get a computer and screen tablet. That’s like wonderful.
Putting aside work and artistic works on the back burner I’ve just been kinda slumpy.Like a weird sense of sadness I suppose.Maybe just a rough patch but I’m sure I’ll be back in my feet posting art again like a champ
Small brown bag mix of gift art for buds of mine over on Instagram.I ain’t really posting or drawings as much since I’m kinda in a block and I gotta really focus on working and getting my portfolio ready for my dream college.Maybe if get in I’ll do like a weekly report on it Incase anyone is interested in it too.
I’m also aware stepping back I have a huge array of art styles and I’m cool with that Incase anyone new is wondering why I’m not drawing more copper Red Sea creatures.I just like doing whatever art in whatever pace if you feel me.
Golurk thing I’ve slowly been whittling at.Having a job is neat,I bought splatoon 2 recently and got my boyfriend for his birthday/Christmas.
But it’s a thorn sometimes.Standing around doing nothing for majority of the time or having 12-9 shifts.Honestly most of my drawing time comes from shift doodles or night drawings from 7-3.My sleep schedule is starting to crack cuz of it too.Maybe some day I’ll prevail and balance my hobby and job.
