They weren't meant to get along but so far they are the only best friends in Geiger Valley... keep your enemies closer, maybe?

Enjoying some gameplay with a vanilla-ish game setup at the moment. Currently involves a custom hood that focuses on the University expansion where I try and make use of different features or general concepts that were included in the pack but in whatever way I feel like rather than based on how Maxis designed them to work.
As usual with me there are nerdy details... each Sim has an education score where learning skills, receiving high grades (on education-themed residential lots), working on talent badges, life skills and previous career experience are combined to give a score that decides how high a Sim can climb a career. So yeah, there's thresholds that I'm tinkering with for that. I will probably include this in my post-apocalyptic hoods too if it seems manageable with 100+ active playable Sims at a time...

Gledric thinks he's pretty cool and likes to walk around all tough with his chest out but the Meltdown has him wondering how he's going to survive in this new big bad world.

The manipulative Berchino Mantura claims a chunk of land as his own after the Meltdown. He's not interested in the politics that is required to govern in a post-apocalyptic world and makes more enemies than friends so I'm wondering how long it will be until he goes the way of Julius Caesar...

Living in a mausoleum? It's more likely than you think in the post apocalyptic remains of Geiger Valley.

Have been playing with a post-apocalyptic game setup recently and thinking of treating hood deco as "travel locations" for story purposes. Sims that are paying off a debt might have to travel to dangerous locations in the neighborhood as part of their contract every now and then in search of Buy Mode objects for the community. Military Sims could also band together for rich Sims and check out the most dangerous areas for the rarest (most expensive) Buy Mode objects.
At the moment I'm just taking it easy and enjoying building dreary little buildings for my unfortunate Sims. This is meant to be a mix of modern and feudal-esque style gameplay using mostly Maxis objects but with CC Walls/Floors and some nice object recolours.

Playing with a minimal build/buy cc game setup at the moment, the goal being to make the most of content that came with the base game and expansions rather than rely too much on external build/buy cc. The playstyle for the hood of Flannelsby is a modern day feudal-esque system. Families need each other's help to prosper but they are also trying to leg each other over to give themselves an advantage on the social ladder.
It's usually the playstyle I return to when I'm not using a more conventional modern day style set of rules, because it's versatile when you want to play apocalypse, medieval, castaway etc game setups and creates some diversity in the population so we get to see sims in a range of different financial and social situations which also helps to just naturally create story hooks when every sim needs to remember to watch their back and that of those they care for lest the Grim Reaper arrive earlier than expected.
