Things I need more of:
Badass old ladies in fantasy wearing essentially the same shit that we put younger women in and rocking it just as much.

i still don’t understand why recovery isn’t romanticized more. getting better after being at your lowest point? working hard and doing what it takes to feel safe again? knowing that occasional dips aren’t the end of the world? changing yourself and ridding your life of toxic behavior/people? i’m sorry that sounds better than any edgy miserable story i’ve ever heard.

Hello! Are there any books you would recommend for cooking witchcraft? I’m thinking of getting the book of kitchen witchery but wanted to know if you knew of anything better. Thank you!
So, I have a bit of a different approach to this. I tend to really not like books marketed at kitchen witches. They’re normally A) super generic and/or wiccan (no thanks) and B) full of mediocre recipes.
If you’re interested in kitchen witchery the first thing I would do is sit down with your favorite herbs, spices and ingredients, and get to know each one. Smell it, taste it, meditate on it, consider what it is you love about it. What does it make you feel? Begin to develop your own list of correspondences.
In my opinion lists of correspondences are fairly useless as they can often be regional, relying on cultural or social trends. No list is going to give you access to magic like your own.
If you don’t already know how to cook, it’s time to learn! Get comfortable in a kitchen, take classes or watch youtube vids. Practice knife skills. When you’re trying to imbue magic into a dish, it’s helpful if you’re not stressing the dish the entire time.
Take some herbal classes. NOT essential oil classes (that shit ain’t edible, fuck anyone who says it is.) Or begin to learn some of the science behind plants and why they do what they do. Rosemary Gladstar’s books are a gift. For myself (and you may find different and that’s okay!) being able to wind the magic around actual science gives me a special kind of joy that I think adds a punch to my spellwork.
Be intentional about your food. Don’t just pile it onto a plate and then shovel it into your mouth. Learn about plating, aesthetics, and presentation. Set the table, sit down and enjoy your food without distraction.
Appreciate where your food comes from. Make an effort to shop local if you can. Being mindful of what is in season. Phase out processed food where possible if it makes sense for you. (no diss on processed food, that can be a lifesaver!)
Finally, some book recommendations, lol. As that’s what you were here for.
Find a seasonal cookbook for your area of the world. Local produce stores often carry these!
Celtic Folklore Cooking is great. The recipes are divided up by the wiccan sabbats (yeah I know, but it’s so prevalent now it’s a Thing). But I really like how they fit into the seasons.

The Herbalist’s Kitchen. Some really great recipes here, with thought given into the herbal side of things. It’s so easy to weave magic into these recipes!
Tumblr media
The Alchemy of Herbs. Another lovely book that combines herbalism with cooking.

Hopefully that helps! Sorry if the books weren’t as witchy as you were hoping for :)

🌿✨My bedside altar is a place for me to reflect on the day, reconnect with myself and my place in the world, and to try to steer where I want my dreams to take me. And when I wake up I try and see what signs I was given and how to utilize that information in the present and future.✨🌿

i’ve created something today which i’d like to share with you ♡
to do this craft you will need either a kitchen with stove and a pot of water, or maybe a cauldron works as well. afterwards it is recommended to have a warm heater nearby. also gather the following:
cinnamon
fresh basil
small papers
basically you just boil some water with a good amount of cinnamon and some fresh basil until you have a strong and dark mixture (i did that for approx. 20 minutes) and then you fill that mixture into a bowl and let your paper soak in it for about 5-10 minutes before you take it out to dry and use.
Tumblr media
and then you can pretty much use it for any manifestation that you’d like! basil is amazing and attracts happiness, love, peace and money − which are all the things that everyone wishes for; cinnamon does almost the same and gives the whole thing a true power upgrade also.
use paper for: positive affirmations ◦ requests to the universe ◦ writing down wishes and desires ◦ setting intentions and goals ◦ scripting your dream life ◦ showing love and gratitude ◦ different manifestation methods (3x33 or 11x11) ◦ love letters ◦ spells and sigils ◦ literally anything you want to manifest in a positive way ♡
i think this is one genius little ‘do it yourself’ ♡ have fun!! ♡♡♡
