“Sure!” He grins. “‘M gonna get some paint tape anddd precision brushes and all that.” He’s nothing if not precise. He’s been that way his whole life.
“I think we should do a sage green for three walls and then a mural for one wall, maybe.”

“Okay,” he nods a little. “We can- I still wanna paint the nursery. Absolutely.”
“Okay, we’ll pick up paint after the appointment?” I tilt my head.

Cody’s eyes fly open. “Eleven thirty?” He quickly repeats. “What? Oh gods that’s so late- I’m so sorry.”
“Oh it’s fine,” I wave a hand, “I figure we’ll just have a late breakfast and then head out.”

“Mm- morning,” he murmurs, doing a slow, big, cat-like stretch. “Time ‘s it? Seven?”
“Oh no,” I shake my head, “it’s eleven thirty!”

After about an hour longer, Cody slowly starts to wake up again, feeling more energized this time.
Maybe it’s like- six. Two extra hours wouldn’t be so bad.
“Good morning,” I greet him softly.

Cody gives you a quiet coo in pleasant surprise, slowly drifting back into a deeper sleep.
I reach a hand up and start to gently card my fingers through his curls, twisting each one until his head has pretty, perfect curls all lined up.

“No work,” he breathes in surprise, nuzzling in closer. “No mission?”
“No mission,” I confirm, “just here. Just sleep.” I rub his back again.

“Have t’get up,” he whispers, “‘s my job…”
“Nuh uh,” I shake my head, “no work today, your job is snuggles.”

Cody groans at the movement but doesn’t dare open his eyes yet. It’s got to be like 3am still, he has plenty of time.
I rub his back gently to get him to settle, figuring we can paint the nursery a different day.
The appointment isn’t until two, so there’s plenty of time to just cuddle in bed.

To even Cody’s surprise, he stays asleep even through four like when he usually wakes up, too comfortable and warm in bed with you to have much motivation whatsoever.
In fact, he sleeps even through his second typical wake up time, which is about eight or nine in the morning.
I wake up to my late alarm that goes off at ten and stretch and yawn, humming softly afterwards.

At the full contact, Cody’s grin only widens. “Happy t’be of assistance, love. Get some rest- an’ thank you for tonight.”
I manage to hum a thank you in return before falling sleep, staying tucked into him the entire night.

Cody grins. “Help yourself to that warmth whenever you want. ‘M not goin’ anywhere anytime soon.”
“Better not.” I hum, closing my eyes and curling in more to be pressed against him at almost every part of my body.

“No ‘m okay,” he says softly. “Built like a furnace- part of my enhancements for survival.”
“Oh I see. Well I love it,” I nuzzle my nose into his chest, “s’warm.”

Cody kisses your head and ducks into your room with you, carefully laying you in bed before climbing in next to you.
I pull my blankets up once he’s settled, “it’s cold tonight- do you need more?”

“‘M sure, love.” He slowly sits up with you, holding you tighter to his body before getting up and walking back the hall to your bedroom.
I hum and rest my head on his shoulder, “thank you. ‘S sweet.”

“Hm…. I vote we go t’bed,” he nods, “I can carry ya.”
“Sure you won’t drop me?” I wrap my arms around his shoulders to be in the optimal carrying position.

Cody whines a little. “Why do I always have t’make the decisions?”
“‘Cause you’re just cool like that,” I kiss his neck.
