I love the ghoul bc badass corpselike cowboy makes my brain go brrrrrrrrrrr but at the same time. AT THE SAME TIME! he’s a two hundred fifty year old man who survived the attempted eradication of civilization by the corporation he endorsed bc his wife asked him to (the same wife he loved. the same wife he wire tapped and listened to her suggest to a room full of capitalists they bomb the world) but sacrificed his humanity & became a “monster” in the process — not just in looks and status, but morality. he ( who didn’t even like the his characters he played as an actor to be cruel) embraced everything he once stood against. the radiation didn’t just poison his body but also his gentle soul. became not just a ghoul but THE ghoul. a perpetually impassive jaded bounty hunter who never flinches. an urban legend that haunts the wasteland. brutal skilled dangerously intelligent and borderline impossible to stop once he has a goal in mind. who doesn’t discriminate who he kills. a famous western actor who played the “good guy” turned murderous fallout outlaw. who denies there’s any good left in him but, despite this, hasn’t turned feral or ended his life. because he still has reasons (and hope. maybe a tiny itty bit of hope)

Between Cooper's opening scene and Hancock's opening scene, I can't pick a favourite.
If they ever met that ham off would be immense.
Ghouls need the following:
A Cool Hat. (Tricorn vs Cowboy hat).
A schtick, a gimmick, a persona. (Colonial King of the Zombies vs Good Sheriff gone bad).
A Signature Gun (Sawed off Shot-gun vs Whatever Coops' cool as fuck boom stick is).
A Signature Meele Move (Bowie Knife in the gut vs The Lasso).
Tragic Backstory (Naturally, everyone has one in the wastes but you gotta up the ante for Ghouls).
A Drug Problem (What's in the vials?!)
A Sassy/Sarcastic Attitude towards their Vaultie. (It's bonding to drag your Vaultie across the wasteland in a choke-hold ok? It IS--).
A Dramatic Opening Scene. (I was won over both times, love at first sight, that's my wasteland husband right there---)
Big Dad Energy (...Ok.)

Rewatching the fallout show and I noticed this little detail during the duel between The Ghoul and Maximus in Filly that I missed the first time but absolutely love, where Maximus destroys the wooden bridge Cooper is standing on, causing him to fall flat on his ass. He drops the act and his silly little accent for a moment and says "goddamn, that hurt!" outwardly, as though he is complaining to the set crew, which, in his mind, he probably is. I love this small moment so much because it's so rare that he sets down "The Ghoul," and it shows his mentality, his way of operating in this world. To him, it is all a set, and he's just really deep in character. It also suggests that this man did not even do his own stunts as an actor, and that his "shrug off the bullets" act is purely that, an act. This man is in so much pain, but doesn't dare show it out of fear. Lucy is absolutely going to break down his act next season, and I'm so excited to see it.
