I know and love it. And Hugo Kupka deserved it. For everything that he put Clive and Cid's group for years. For what he did too all the bearers. For what he did to anyone who came into even remote contact with Clive. For what he did to Rosaria. For what he was (going) to do to Jill, etc. It was so great to have the hero be like no Fuck you and kill them. That one is personal. He has less enmity towards Barnabas and Ultima (though Ultima is pretty close). And yep it's so good. Also don't forget that he's killed many many people both as a slave fighter and soldier in general. He's just one who still beleives in the goodness of overall humanity (somehow, impressive for him to not fall into nihilism and despair considering how humanity treated him and all bearers!). But I will always love the righteous savagery murder of Hugo Kupka and that everyone was crying and (metapphorical but literally would have) been dancing over his grave.

fandom really fixates way too much on clive's softer side tbh, particularly for the angst. like yes he's kind and considerate and selfless to a fault and struggles to find value in his own life because he has been used/has used himself as a tool for so long to the point where it defines his self-image and went through absolute horrors but like

this is also the same guy who looked hugo kupka in the face, said "i'll kill you" and then proceeded to cut both the guy's hands off without hesitation. he didn't go for the kill to end the fight immediately, man said i am going to maximize your pain first before i cut your head off because fuck you, suffer

imo clive's capacity and willingness to use violence is just as important, especially because of the contrast it paints to his softer side, and i wish this got acknowledged more in fan works
