@christchurchkw I asked you guys to get creative with how you spend time with the Lord and just make the time. There is no substitute to prayer. Iāve had to heed the same challenge, as thereās always room to make more time for the Lord, and Iām not the most disciplined. Went for a run tonight. Kelsey offered to put the kids down, which is usually my gig after her long day with them. Nice change to get outside at night, sweat my butt off in the trees of Kingwood, got a bug stuck in my hair (some of you cars got a fun reaction to that as you passed by the kid in the Texas shirt) and see his creation and confess and ask for deeper communion. Just wanted to encourage you to still go do it. Get creative with your family on how, but mostly why we do pray. The more we pray, the more we love God. And the more we love God, the more we pray. Long long week. Time at the lake with the Apels. Watching my grandfather pass into eternity with my mom and her sisters and my grandmother. So much time on the road with my sweet little tired family. And leading my grandfatherās memorial service today with my little brother. Such highs and lows happening all at the same time. Tons of pictures captured. But this was my favorite of them all. The beauty of three very different parts of my life all mixed into a beautiful portrait. I badly wish @laurenapelphoto was here in this photo, but in Apel fashion we planned this last minute and made it impossible for her. I love you all so deeply and havenāt had time to mourn and rejoice how the week has gone. So I do that quietly in tears (small manly tears of course) tonight thinking on Godās grace he has so freely poured over us. I love you all. Proud of you all. Humbling this morning seeing this picture of my grandfather holding one of my hands, as my other hand rests on his head. Thatās exactly what I did Tuesday afternoon when I walked in his hospital room to say goodbye. I grabbed one of his hands and rubbed his head with the other. Back in the day when he had all 10 fingers. Being the good wood worker he was, on Tuesday he passed away with 6 fingers total after years of not so fun experiences in the wood shop. And the humor of his 3 finger hands will not be lost on me. He was a good man and worked hard with those hands. Always loved to talk on the phone, always letting me know āWell, Cary, I love ya boy. Tell Kelsey and the kiddos we love them.ā We all knew he loved us. Never doubted that. A honor to be named after such a big life of a man. So glad he doesnāt have to carry us on his shoulders any more and can truly rest. See you soon, Grandpa. https://ift.tt/2GrFhRI

Quick version - I didnāt know what I was doing with @anchorgrey when I started selling T-shirts and random printed goods back in 2014. So after a few years, I just dropped it and focused on paying bills. With half a decade or more of branding and package design under my belt, Iām going to slowly ramp up an online store presence with interesting products that I use, antiques, and things I think weād all enjoy. Two things that I quietly processed and praised the Lord for today as we walked muddy streets and ate good food and played games during a thunderstorm and celebrated 10 years of marriage with this girl: I am thankful for a God who has not changed nor given me a reason to doubt him, and two, no one is good as scripture says and I donāt deserve the companionship and mercy God shows me through Kelsey. I have seen her find rest in mothering our kids, I have seen find rest eating good food in friendsā back yards, I have seen her find rest in praying out loud, and I have seen her find rest on the side of a mountain curled up in a blanket. My God fights for us to take rest, therefore I fight for her rest which I know doesnāt come through sleep or vacation, but Christ himself. A great honor it should be as husbands to help our wives rest well and lead them as the Lord leads his people. Thatās not our culture today - and if thatās not your mindset toward God or the idea of this God figure, I hope my post pisses you off and you go seek out all the things that ultimately fail you until you are tired and empty and fall on Christ. If your heart is to lead in humility and grace, I hope we keep fighting to preserve truth and goodnesses through our role as husbands and children of God.
