Forestcore Things

Taking a walk through the forest after a rainy day, mist swirling gracefully above the river. It's at its highest point, but the log you always use to walk across is still accessible. All the colors seem so beautiful and saturated. The mosses are all so green and elegant, miniature cities of pure life. You breathe in the humid forest air. Its refreshing feeling rushes through your lungs. You're at home at last.

Among the trees, a small fort made of sticks that you built almost ten years ago still stands. There's an impression beneath it. A deer had slept cozily beneath it's shelter one day. You move on. There's still so much to see.

The sun is at golden hour, and through the mist it dances to the ground in bright beams. The river looks so dark, but the sun makes it glitter with the passion of a thousand lovers.

Wildflowers are peeking out of the ground. The snow has only melted a few days ago. Suddenly, a sound breaks through your ethereal daze.

Across the river, a mother deer and her newborn fawns make their way across the bank, sipping on the fresh water. Spring is finally here. Even Mother Nature knows it.

As you turn to head back home with the setting of the sun, you feel a weight in your heart. You're not going back home, you're leaving it. But you'll be back someday. If not tomorrow, soon.
