another hthf idea: percy’s met luke, but has annabeth ever met one of percy’s exes? maybe they run into each other when percy and annabeth visit new york or her job randomly crosses paths with annabeths or something?
“I didn’t think anything could beat your mom’s cookies,” Annabeth says, her hand wrapped around his arm as they walk down the street towards his favorite bakery.
“They don’t beat them, but they come close,” he promises.
“I thought your cookies were the only ones that came close?” She squeezes his arm which makes him look down at her. Big mistake.
Annabeth’s head is tilted back so she can meet his eyes even with the hood of his hoodie pulled forward. It’s definitely her favorite attire, especially when they visit his parents, and the fabric practically engulfs her which all results in her looking painfully cute.
(He’s pretty sure he felt his chest tighten.)
“Oh, uh…” His train of thought has left the station, what were they talking about again? Right…cookies. “They’re good,” he ends lamely
Annabeth smiles in a way that makes him think his mental short circuit was not lost on her and though he should probably be a little upset that she clearly did that on purpose, he can’t really bring himself to care all that much.
That said though, he does have some dignity left and should say something clever right about now—
“Percy?”
He whips around at the sound of his name in a voice he hasn’t heard in a very long time.
“Sarah?”
And sure enough, there she is, looking mostly the same. She’s wearing that hoodie she always loved but her once long brown hair is cut short, ending just above her shoulders.
“Hey,” she responds, lifting a hand up in a half-wave. “How are you?”
It is weird to see her, the most familiar stranger he’s run across in a long time. He didn’t think that he’d ever really see her in person again after their breakup and his move.
“Good,” he replies, moving to face her. A tug on his arm reminds him that Annabeth is going to be exposed too.
“How are you,” he asks. Sarah’s gaze is already locked on where Annabeth’s hood has now fallen off. Annabeth quickly puts it back up and Sarah seems to start at the action.
“Sorry,” she says, “I didn’t mean to stare. Melanie told me that you had started dating Annabeth Chase but I didn’t…anyway, it’s nice to meet you.” She directs the last comment at Annabeth.
Annabeth nods, once again squeezing his arm, reminding him that he hasn’t introduced them yet.
“Right, sorry, Annabeth this is Sarah, my…” he trails off, suddenly embarrassed to say it.
“His ex-girlfriend.” Sarah completes the sentence for him. “And I’ll be the first to admit you’re a step up from me,” she adds as a joke.

Omggg i just read the childhood friends to lovers au and it's doing things to my heart!!
Please continue the series if it's not too inconvenient!!
He wonders how he thought that he could live without this. Without the touch of her skin, without her lips on his, without the only thing that’s making this life worth living in this very moment.
Maybe it’s the midnight air, or maybe it’s his headlights shining on the truth that’s impossible to ignore now.
That he is utterly in love with her.
But hasn’t he always been?
“Don’t you think we could be doing…literally anything else right now?” he whines, trying to hide his grin when she involuntarily shakes her head just a smidge to the right. He wonders if she even knows she does it, or that it’s only ever with him.
“You’re welcome to leave,” she replies with just enough haughtiness to make the delivery seem real but they both know she doesn’t want him to. Nor does he want to.
Because seeing Annabeth between shelves of books is like seeing an angel in heaven, it’s where she’s supposed to be. With her hair tied up in a ponytail that is already unable to contain a few locks that have fallen to her face, she impatiently brushes them aside as her eyes scan the rows.
It takes everything in him to not reach out and pull her hair back for her.
“But then you’d be all alone,” he teases, knowing it’s going to break her concentration.
It does. She turns to him with a full Annabeth glare.
“Maybe I’d be better off alone,” she grumbles, turning back to the shelves. Before he can respond with another quick retort, her eyes light up, all traces of the glare gone.
She’s found the book and it’s on a shelf that’s just an inch too high. His eyes graze the small patch of waist that appears when her shirt rides up as she reaches. It takes physical effort to force himself to look away. So he focuses his attention on grabbing the book for her instead.
Her frown is endearing when she turns to him and he takes the moment to grin.
“But if you’d been alone how would you get your book?”
“I almost had it,” she replies, reaching for the book still in his grasp.
He holds it higher, thanking every god that he’d finally gotten taller than her this past summer.
“Uh huh…” he teases.
“Percy!” Annabeth whisper-yells, always mindful of the library rules.
“Yes, Annabeth?” he replies in a low tone.
She flushes a little when she responds through gritted teeth. “The book.”
Kiss me for it, he almost replies, shocked at how close those words were from actually leaving his mouth. His hand drops and Annabeth snatches the book.
“Finally!” she says, walking down the aisle with a pleased smile on her face.
He should say something. Something that isn’t the thought he’d just had. “See aren’t you glad I was there to help?”
“I think you just made more work,” she replies, raising an eyebrow.
“Nah, you’re happy I’m here,” he asserts, not missing the smile she tries to hide just before she turns back around with an exaggerated sigh.
“Um…hi,” Annabeth says, breaking him out of his thoughts. Her chest is heaving from the intensity of their kiss and he realizes he’s still a little breathless too.
“Hi.” A lock of her hair has escaped her ponytail and he finally does what he’s wanted to do for years. When he brushes it back, she leans into his touch in a way that melts his heart.
He could have had this so long ago.
“Sorry,” he blurts, his thoughts still a little jumbled and out of order. “Sorry for not calling. I—”

Hey, would you mind writing about percy’s openning night for his own coffee and annabeth being all proud and cute for the celebrity au please?? I love your writing soo much i think you’ve done such amazing stories and i admit to dream about this au every now and then because of how much i reread it lol 🌹❤️ (and i know you asked this ages ago but im the same person that sends promps with the flower if you even remember me lol, im just really shy and my first language isnt english so i get extra shy but i love your stories and i think about them a lott, anyway have a good day 🌹)
Nervous is an understatement. He feels like he might puke (which is not a good look on your first day) though if the feeling is stemming from relief or anxiety is still unclear. He’s been working towards this for so so long and now that it’s finally actually happening, it almost doesn’t feel real.
So much anticipation and build-up and now that everything is set-up, decorated and the moment has come, the place is empty.
(Though the place does look pretty despite the emptiness with about seven tables set up across the space that’s decorated in accents of different shades of blue and a lot of plants courtesy of Grover who had made up for not being at the opening by showing up a week early to help decorate).
Granted it’s only been a few minutes since they officially opened, and he can’t blame anyone other than himself for the lack of fanfare.
He hadn’t wanted Annabeth’s influence at the start, and though he trusts Miranda (the teen he’d hired as a barista/social media liaison) to promote it well, he’s wondering if he should have done more.
He’d posted on his own private insta account of course but that isn’t going to do much other than his mom commenting how proud she is.  Five minutes after opening without a customer isn’t that great.
“You got 40 likes on the insta post so far,” Miranda calls from her place further down the counter. She looks up from her phone. “You should pay to boost it so more people can see it.”
“You can do that?”
And suddenly he feels woefully unprepared for this whole thing. Maybe it would have been better to do the whole celebratory opening instead of quietly putting up an Open sign.
“I’m just gonna do it and you can add the amount to mu paycheck,” Miranda responds.
He has another brief panic of how he’s going to pay her paycheck if no one even comes in. Hoping his nervousness doesn’t show, he runs a towel down the already clean counter.
Percy’s always been a pretty confident person when it comes to work. He trusts his ability to pick up anything quickly and has a knack for finding odd jobs.
Hell, he had moved to California mostly on a whim and managed to do well at the time he worked at Cali’s.
And though he knows it’s this confidence in his work ability that had led him to opening up his own place, now that he’s here it really does feel a lot different than normal work. There’re more responsibilities. And even Miranda, who’s a part timer, depends on him to do well to get paid.
It’s all stuff he’s known this whole time but to actually feel that weight is different.
And even now, he knows he can handle it. If only he gets the chance, if only people actually start—
The sound of the bell on the door makes him start.
“Not bad Jackson.”
He tries to hide his astonishment as Clarisse and Chris walk in, hand in hand.
“It looks really cool Percy!” Chris echoes, eyes scanning the pretty decent sized space.
“Jackson you can’t look that dorky every time people come into your café, it’s bad customer service, close your mouth,” Clarisse drawls, rolling her eyes before looking up at the menu.
“Are we the first people?” Chris asks excitedly.
Percy smiles. “Well technically Annabeth was the first customer because she walked in with me when I officially opened and ordered a drink to claim her spot, but then she had to rush out for a call.”
Clarisse waves her hand. “Okay so girlfriend aside, we’re the first—”
The sound of the bell violently ringing interrupts their conversation as Jason Grace rushes in, clearly out of breath.
“Damn!” he swears, when he sees Chris and Clarisse on the counter. “And I definitely didn’t beat Annabeth, did I?” he asks, looking at Percy.
Percy can’t help but smile as he shakes his head.
Jason sighs, walking up to get in line behind Chris and Clarisse. “I hate Mark Edwards now,” he mumbles under his breath.

play stupid games, win stupid prizes chapter 20
“You’re going to look great!” Piper yells from her closet. “I have the perfect thing!”
“Okay,” she replies, laying sideways on her bed. They’re getting ready for Jason’s New Year’s party, hence the lack of Thalia who is no doubt being forced to help with the setup.
She’s scrolling through Pinterest absently when Piper finally pops out of the closet.
“Okay so this dress…” she trails off suggestively waiting for Annabeth’s reaction. It’s a short, off the shoulder, red dress with long sleeves made from a velvety material. It’s gorgeous.
“Piper! I couldn’t…” The dress is too stunning.
“You can and you will. It’ll look great on you, you’ll feel great,” Piper starts listing the benefits, “And it’ll be jaw dropping to anyone else there.” The unsaid implication of ‘anyone’ is undoubtedly, Percy.
“He’ll regret everything so quickly,” Piper adds.
A stab of guilt runs through her at her friend’s words. She really should just tell everyone, but she just wants to stay in this bubble for a little bit longer. It doesn’t stop her from feeling bad though.
At her non-reply, Piper pushes the dress into her hands.
“Well! Go try it on!”
She does as she’s told and changes into the dress. Piper is right, had her and Percy actually still been broken up he would have regretted everything. It looks fantastic.
“Oh my god it’s even better in person!” Piper squeals.
“Thank you so much for letting me borrow this,” she responds, turning to the side to check it out.
“It was made for you today,” Piper responds with a smile. “Now help me choose which one I should wear.”
She helps Piper choose (a classic little black dress) all while fighting the temptation to snap Percy a picture. (Something tells her the surprise will be better in person).
They pull up fashionably late, as Piper calls it, to the party and as soon as they walk in, Piper immediately starts scanning for her boyfriend.
“He’s in the kitchen,” a voice next to them says causing them both to jump.
“God Thalia, you gave us a heart attack.”
Thalia smiles. “Good.”
The three go over to the bar kitchen area, Annabeth all too familiar with this scene, to find Jason grabbing more cups.
Piper doesn’t say anything, just stands expectantly until he turns around and sees her. He drops the cups. Luckily they’re plastic.
Thalia rolls her eyes and picks up the cups. “You’re stupid,” she tells him.
Jason ignores her in favor of greeting his girlfriend (with a kiss that Thalia makes a gagging noise at and she can’t help but giggle).
“Want a drink?” Thalia offers.
“What kind?”
“Well what kind do you want?”
“Um…”
“Hey Jason, did you find the—” Percy’s voice and movement halt in place as their eyes meet.
She wanted to smirk or something in a show of confidence, but all of a sudden, she’s drowning in the green and they’re just standing there staring at each other.
“Hi,” she finally says, breaking the moment.
“Hi.” He takes half a step towards her then, as if remembering, steps back. “You look…nice.”
The nice is a little strained and she knows it’s because he wants to replace it with other words.
“So do you.” And he does. He’s wearing his usual jeans, but he’s got on a black button up untucked with the sleeves rolled up and somehow he’s pulling it off.

play stupid games, win stupid prizes chapter 19
The next morning finds her lighter, as if a weight had been taken off her chest. Percy had left a little bit after their conversation, clearly not in the best state given he had been drinking and fallen asleep. Jason had taken him home, but not before he shared a last discrete smile with her.
That smile is on her mind all morning and afternoon, letting her breathe a little easier. She still doesn’t know what is going to happen, but she knows that it’s okay. And all it took was one conversation.
If only they’d done this before, maybe everything wouldn’t have blown up then. But it’s in the past and there’s nothing she can do about that now.
He head is so full of thoughts she doesn’t register that Helen has asked her to take out the trash three times now. Trying to shake herself out of it, she grabs the bag and walks it to the curb.
The cold air feels refreshing as she unceremoniously dumps the bag on the ground and is about to walk back when she sees none other than the object of all her thoughts.
“Percy?”
He’s standing with his hands in his pockets looking a little sheepish, as if he’d been caught loitering.
“Hey,” he says quietly, taking a hand out of his pocket to give her a little wave.
“What’re you doing here?” she asks, bewildered. She hadn’t expected to see him so soon. Then again, she doesn’t quite know what to make of the situation as a whole.
“Um, I was wondering if you wanted to grab a bite to eat?” The hand that had waved goes to the back of his neck and is she crazy or is he…nervous?
“Uh, sure, just let me grab…” she doesn’t finish the sentence, just points to her front door and jogs away as soon as he nods.
Quickly grabbing her purse, she stops to look at herself in the hallway mirror. Running a few fingers through her hair, she curses. At least her leggings and sweater weren’t bad, and her hair looks halfway decent after her attempts.
And though she was not prepared to see him, her heart is thumping in excitement and she can’t help but smile at the fact they’ll be spending some time together.
Stop it Annabeth, she tries to tell herself, he could be trying to tell you that he doesn’t want to see you again.
But there’s not enough time to really think and she makes it back down her driveway, breathless for a multitude of reasons.
“Okay, I’m ready,” she says, stopping a few feet away from him.
Percy just nods, and they both stand there for a second of silence.
“Um…so where to?” she asks, breaking the silence. Okay so maybe she should be more nervous.
“Oh, right,” he starts, “there’s a new diner if you want to check it out? It’s supposed to be old school.”
“Sure,” she replies, following him to his car parked a little down the street. He opens the door for her and she thanks him as she gets in.
It’s weird. The formality, the fact that he’s driving combined with everything they’ve been through.
“I heard they have good milkshakes,” he says after thirty seconds of him driving in silence. “So I figured you’d like it.”
“I’m sure I will,” she replies, still a little baffled by how nervous he is. It’s making her feel nervous too.
Thankfully it’s a short drive and he pulls into the parking lot a few minutes later.
“Cali’s,” she reads the sign. “Sounds cool.”
Percy leads her in, and they end up getting seated in a booth at the back by a window. She sits opposite of him and they start to look over the menu.
It feels so much like a date. And now that she’s had the thought, she notices that he’s made an effort to tame his hair and—
“What do you want?” he asks, cutting her thoughts short. He still hasn’t looked up from the menu and she can’t help but blurt out.
“Is this a date?”

play stupid games, win stupid prizes chapter 18
The next day is, thankfully, the last day before winter break. It’s maybe the only solace she has in all this is that at least she won’t have to be at school and around him for the next two weeks.
At least it was a good time to blow it all up, she thinks bitterly as she walks down the halls. There is no sign of Percy all morning, not by her locker or in the halls.
Math class brings trepidation because there’s no way they can avoid each other here right? And sure enough, he walks in a few seconds after the bell. She’s not supposed to look at him, and definitely not supposed to care, but she can’t help but notice the bags under his eyes and just how tired he looks. His shirt is rumpled and he just slumps into his seat without looking at anything else around him.
She turns quickly before he can notice that she was looking, but not looking doesn’t stop her mind from racing with thoughts. Why does he look so bad? Clearly this has affected him as much as her right?
It’s the first time she’s seen him since she told him she doesn’t care about him and walked away.
Maybe she actually had hurt him.
He’s the first to leave as soon as the bell rings and if there was any doubt left in her mind that everything was entirely messed up, this is proof it really has gone to shit.
She has a feeling he probably won’t show up to lunch either but even then she hesitates at the door of the cafeteria. After a whole day and a half of feeling like shit, she’s too exhausted to deal with much of anything, including the group.
Deciding to head to the library instead, she’s only a few steps in when the call of her name makes her turn around.
“Annabeth!” Connor walks up to her with a smile.
“Hey!” She tries to respond with the same energy and hopefully it works, she can’t really tell.
“Party at our place tomorrow night to celebrate the start of winter break, you’ll be there right?”
“Um…” The last thing she wants to do is go to a party. Then again, she doesn’t really know what she wants to do.
“Oh, come on! Piper is coming, I talked to her earlier.”
Well Piper will likely ask her to come with anyway. Maybe getting out of her house would be better than sitting in her room thinking about Percy (which is basically all she’d done last night.)
“Okay,” she relents after a second.
“Awesome! See you!”
She nods in response to his smile and looks up to see the librarian glaring at Connor as he walks out.
And though the situation is not the same, she can’t think about the first party Percy had goaded her into attending.
Stifling a groan, she dumps her bag on the table. Can this boy leave her mind for a single second? How is it even worse then when they were actually together?
-.-
As she had expected, Piper had been ready to ask her to come to the party when she’d cut off her friends pleading by saying she’d already accepted.
Piper had tried to hide her surprise, pivoting instead to getting her excited about the change of pace. She appreciates her attempts but honestly, she’d really only said yes so she’d be more effectively distracted from thoughts of Percy.
Thalia drives them and naturally the place is already full of people by the time they show up and of course she ends up losing both her friends in the first fifteen minutes.

come in with the rain
He didn’t want to go out on such a night, but the milk hadn’t been delivered and Ms. Stonewall always took her tea with milk and god forbid Ms. Stonewall doesn’t get something she wants.
Nevermind that it’s near close to hailing outside and an umbrella will be useless against the wind. The cook had given him a biscuit and a pat on the back and that was the closest thing he got to sympathy, but there was no avoiding the trudge out into the rain.
The only good thing, and quite literally the only one, is that the grocer was only a five minute walk away. It feels like much longer by the time he actually makes it to the small store, only minutes away from closing, drenched to the bone and shivering.
“Percy? Good heavens, what are you doing out in this weather?”
“Need milk,” he manages to chatter out, “for Ms. Stonewall’s tea.”
Mr. Grayson sighs, adjusting his wirey glasses. “Of course. Well, at least stand by the fire and warm up.”
“Thank you,” Percy replies, grateful for the first genuine act of kindness he’s been shown since he was tasked with this ridiculous quest.
He walks over to the fireplace, thankful that the people who had remodeled the house into a store had been smart enough to leave behind the hearth.
The flames dance merrily as he stands, the heat finally bringing some feeling back into his hands.
“Why didn’t you take the car?” Mr. Garyson asks.
“Evans is out with one of the guests, been out all day.” He replies, turning around to warm up his back.
“Bet it’s that Jake Cornhill, he seems like the type.” Percy doesn’t say that it actually is Jake Cornhill who’s been out so much Percy’s starting to wonder why he even booked a room, and just hums noncommittally instead.
A knock startles him. But before he can ask, another and another and—
“Good lord, it’s hailing.” Mr. Grayson looks out through the window and though Percy can’t make anything out, the sound is proof enough.
Percy tries to hold back a groan. “Mr. Grayson…do you mind if I stay here for a little while, just until it stops hailing?”
He has no idea what he’s going to do if Mr. Grayson says no. Well, other than get back with bruises all over his body.
Mr. Grayson sighs again, hands moving to adjust the wirey frames again. “Well, I’d be a monster to let you go back out there. Just sit tight by the fire, I’ll close up shop.”
“Thank you,” he responds once again, “I’ll try to make it up to you somehow.”
Mr. Grayson shoots him a small smile. “Next time, tell that cook of yours the milk isn’t worth it.”
Percy turns to the side, feeling a little like a rotisserie chicken. “I tried, but Ms. Stonewall…”
He doesn’t finish. There isn’t a person in town who doesn’t know how Ms. Stonewall is. At this point she’s taken an almost permanent residency at the guest house with a sum total of four months under her belt, giving her the dubious honor of having stayed there the longest.
“Right, any chance she’s found a nephew or great uncle or any family that will graciously offer her a place to live far away from here?”
Percy can’t help but chuckle, though he’s really not supposed to say anything negative about the guests.
“Not yet, but there may be a great aunt somewhere.”
“Who’s great aunt?” A new voice makes him whirl around and standing at the foot of the stairs is the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. Soft blonde curls tumble down her shoulders, firelight dancing across her pale skin, a hand still resting on the banister.
“The one who inadvertently sent this young man out in this weather.”
And now those beautiful wide eyes are trained on him and he doesn’t think he remembers how to breathe.
“…my niece,” Mr. Grayson is saying when he is able to tune back into the conversation, and to be honest, the room at large. “Annabeth.”
“Hello,” he says, somewhat awkwardly and well aware of the fact that he is still not dry and probably looks like a drowned rat in front of the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
“Hello, don’t tell me you actually walked in from that.” She’s crossing the room now to look out the window.
“Well, before the hail started,” he manages to respond, trying very hard not to stare at her.

play stupid games, win stupid prizes chapter 17
It’s the week before winter break which means Annabeth’s workload has increased. School and also wanting to spend time with Percy has her stretching a little thin.
But today is one of those days where Percy is sitting with her in the library as she works. So far, he’s cycled between doing some homework, staring at her, playing with her hair, doing homework again when she gives him a look and trying to sneak a kiss.
Despite all that though, she manages to finish all her assignments.
“Done,” she tells him, closing the textbook.
“Finally!” Percy immediately stands up, stretching. (And she doesn’t look when his shirt rides up, definitely not.
He smirks at her because of course he catches her. She frowns back. (Why can’t he just not notice for once).
“Cute,” he comments, leaning down to peck her on the lips.
It still causes butterflies.
The days are already short but it’s pretty dark when they step out and she realizes she’s been working for a long time.
“Thank you,” she says as they walk to her car. “For staying with me.”
Percy just shrugs, and looks away at the compliment, clearly still not used to it.
She loops her arms through his and leans against him and though she can’t make out his face really well, but she thinks he’s smiling.
“I’ll drop you off,” she says, leading him to her car.
She’s dropped him off many times (though she’s never been in his house) and after that first time, she sticks to the side to the road instead of turning into the driveway now.
“Did you get anything done?” she asks as she begins to drive.
“I did get some valuable playing with your hair time,” he replies, the grin evident in his voice. She can feel him looking at her and makes a face.
“You mean some valuable annoying me time?”
“You think I’m annoying?” It’s said with a dramatic tone but she still glances over at him to make sure he isn’t actually hurt by her comment. He’s clearly joking but why does she feel like there is a hint of a real question in there?
“No,” she responds truthfully. “Well, you used to be but now—” How does she finish that thought? Now you’re my boyfriend and everything is different and you don’t make my life hell anymore?
“Now…” Percy prompts.
“Now you’re just Percy,” she decides.
“What does that mean?”
It’s kinda funny to see his eyebrows scrunch up in confusion.
“Exactly what I said of course,” she replies with a smile. “You’re Percy.”
“But what does being Percy mean?” he pushes back. Somehow, for once, she’s managed to get under his skin and it’s fun to see him squirm.
“You’re cute,” she tells him.
The compliment furthers his confusion, and at the stop sign before she has to turn into his neighborhood, she leans over and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
“I guess that’s a good thing,” he mumbles under his breath and she actually chuckles out loud. His eyes are back on her, a smile slowly making its way onto his face.
As she pulls up to his house though, a figure is approaching the side of the road with a trash bag. Evidently, tomorrow is trash day.
She glances at Percy as she pulls to a stop and the smile is gone. He mumbles a thanks and makes to quickly get out of the car but his mom stops him.
“Percy?”
She’s ducking down to look into the car from the open passenger side door.
“Hi!” she says with a smile. “I’m Sally, Percy’s mom! Nice to meet you!”
“Hi,” Annabeth responds somewhat nervously. “I’m Annabeth.”
“Annabeth! Right, Percy’s talked about you! It’s nice to finally meet you!”

for hthf: percabeth reuniting earlier in their relationship after her being gone filming for a while!
Nothing like dating a girl for a month and a half only to have her leave to a foreign country for three weeks. (And for those of you keeping count that’s practically the same amount of time he’s been dating her…kinda…you get the point).
But he doesn’t complain because how could anyone complain when they’re dating the Annabeth Chase. And also he doesn’t really have a right to complain because though they’ve been exclusively dating she’s not officially his girlfriend or anything.
Which leads him into a weird place of not knowing how to act. Does he text her more since they’re not seeing each other, should he call? Or would that just get in her way because she’s busy with work and who is he to interrupt that?
Obviously, he misses her. He’s pretty sure he started missing her the day she came up to his counter and told him with a sad pout that she had to leave in a week for Sweden or something and she wouldn’t be back for about 3 weeks.
They’d tried to make the most out of the week they had, managing to make a second trip to Disney in the early morning again, but then she was off and he’s left staring desolately at his phone.
Not to say that they don’t text, they do, here and there throughout the day, but when she was here that texting was usually supplemented by an in-person appearance.
The door rings and he pockets his silent phone to greet the customer.
“Hi, welcome to Cali’s, what can I get started for you?”
“I think you forgot the smiling part of customer service,” Jason responds, and Percy looks up in surprise.
“Sorry,” he replies automatically. “You don’t normally stop by on Tuesdays.”
“Should I be honored or creeped out that you know my schedule?”
Percy rolls his eyes. “Sorry Mr. Grace but I do that with all of my regulars.”
Jason chuckles. “So I’m not special then?”
Smiling, Percy replies. “You said it not me, the usual?”
Jason leans back leisurely, no one else is in the café so he really can take all the time he needs.
“I see what you did there, well played Percy. And no, I think I’ll try something new today.”
A day full of surprises, Percy nods. “Alright, what are you thinking?”
Jason turns from the menu back to him. “Maybe I’ll try the caramel macchiato, see what Annabeth likes about them so much.”
The mention of her name is a pang to his heart. It’s only been a week and a half since she left but he’s now realizing just how often he used to get the chance of seeing her, even if it was brief, and how good that felt.
“You forgot the smile again. Is your customer service slipping or is it cause I said Annabeth?”
He turns to Jason with a frown. Clearly the man knows what he’s doing.
Jason smiles. “Sorry, I know she’s on a shoot in Europe. But I thought things were going well?”
Is it a little embarrassing that Jason Grace is commenting on his love life? Maybe. But it looks like he means what he said genuinely. (Because at this point Percy is pretty good at picking up on when Jason is trying to tease him).
(And that definitely needs two footnotes in the memoir).
“They are,” he mumbles, punching in the caramel macchiato order on the machine. “Just sucks I can’t see her. Anyway, your total is $7.13.”
“Well maybe call her or something if you miss her,” Jason says as he taps his card.
“Are you kidding? I can’t interrupt her work,” Percy replies, turning around to make the drink.
He sees Jason shrug out of the corner of his eye. “You could just ask her before calling but hey I’m just the guy trying to get coffee and non-frowny customer service.”
“I’m not frowning,” Percy replies with a frown.

Hiii, just wanna say firstly that I adore your work and hope ur doing well also! Got an idea for a prompt for the actress u where it's basically just Percy arranges some kind of party or some kind of get together for Annabeth with all their closest friends or smth cause he knows she's been having a rough time lately with so much going on so it's something to just let her feel like a normal person for a bit and take her mind off everything that's going on. Party was my first thought but not sure in what context that'd make the most sense or something else but yh. Anyway don't feel any pressure to write it, only if you've got the time and think it's worthwhile, I'm sure you have loads of requests anyway. Thanks for considering though and ofc looking forward to ur next work!!!
Hi! First off, thank you for the prompt! The hurt/comfort aspect is super cute and I've kind of written on it in various ways but I just posted something where I really tried to imbibe the party aspect but in a different way. It's posted under:
how to handle fame and distance
I've also written the bad-day aspect under:
how to handle fame and headcanons chapter 9
I know it's not exactly what you requested, but the idea of Percy taking care of Annabeth is there so I hope between the two you got what you were looking for! Thank you again for the prompt and supporting this series!

another how to handle fame prompt! what if annabeth had a very rough filming day that took a toll on her emotionally and percy just hugs her and knows just the right things to do and say to make her feel better?
Hi! Thank you for the prompt! I've actually written on this type of thing before! Here is the link:

if we are to struggle...
If we are to struggle anyways, why do it alone?
It’s slow, this progression, she doesn’t know how or when she lets it in. But in the middle of her morning in between meetings and emails, she sits staring out the window with a fresh coffee in hand and thinks that it’s nice to take a break.
Nice to stay in her place as he hands her a coffee right as he’s about to head out the door.
“Thank you,” she says, accepting the cup.
He simply kisses the top of her head and tells her to have a good day before walking out.
It’s easier, she realizes, to accept the love he gives. Could she make her own coffee? Or fix the lightbulb in the bathroom, or destress on her own after a hard day?
Of course.
She’s spent most of her life doing those things by herself.
But he lights up brighter than the bulb that he replaces when she asks him. He smiles when she cuddles into him on the couch after that long day. He wants to be there, wants to help.
And it’s so much easier to let him.
Maybe it’s too poignant of a thought to be having right before her 10 AM meeting, but it’s hard not be swept away in the feeling of belonging.
“Annabeth, good morning!” her boss says when she joins the video call.
“Good morning,” she replies, her voice sounding a little far away to her own ears.
“How was your weekend?” her boss asks.
Does he really want to know?
Does it matter? He asked.
“Good but tiring, we visited family and didn’t get back till very late.”
“Oh, I know all about that,” her boss jokes. “Let me know if you need more bandwidth on the bluebird project. Our deadline is on Thursday.”
“I think I’m good—actually…” she stops herself. “It would help if Hazel could edit the presentation, I’d like another set of eyes on it.”
“You got it!” her boss replies. “I’ll let her know to expect that from you.”
“Thank you,” she replies, feeling that same dazed feeling from earlier.
It’s easier.
He comes back around six and she’s got food on the table. His eyes say thanks before his mouth does but she reads the way his shoulders relax at the thought of having dinner ready.
He’s the better cook but she’s just made life a lot easier for him.
“I’m starving, thank you,” he says, grabbing a plate.
She just kisses him on the cheek and asks about his day.
“Actually pretty good, it was busy but everything wrapped up nicely. What about you?”
“I asked Hazel to go over that presentation so I’m feeling a lot better about it.”
His eyebrows raise at her comment, and she can’t help but ask why.
“Nothing it’s just, you don’t ask for help that often so I’m really proud that you did.”
She doesn’t? Has she been that stubborn?
Why, she asks her younger self, why did you think you needed to do it all on your own?
To prove that I can, she hears her own pride reply. To show that I don’t need anyone to do anything for me.
No, she agrees, you don’t need it. But isn’t it nice to get it anyway?
“What are you thinking?” Percy interrupts her thoughts, and she realizes she’s been quiet for too long.
“Just, it’s not a bad thing to rely on others,” she says slowly, forming the words as she speaks.
“It’s not,” he agrees, looking at her curiously.
“I mean just cause I can do everything myself doesn’t mean I need to.”
“Right.”
She probably sounds weird, looks insane with her forkful of pasta she hasn’t eaten yet.
“Sorry, just something I’ve been thinking about today.”
Percy shakes his head. “No need to apologize. I’m glad. I like it when you open up, I like it when you let me in and let me love you.”
“Has it been hard?” she asks.
“To what? Love you?”
She nods, suddenly worried for the answer.
“No, of course not. You’ve just made it easier recently and I appreciate that.”
It is easier, she thinks, easier to let others in, easier to have help from the people she loves.
It’s the way the world works, the natural order. The flowers need butterflies to spread, and the butterflies need flowers to live, everything is dependent on something else, and we’re all connected in this big, crazy world.
So, if we have to struggle anyways, why do it alone?

A/N: This has been a concept in my mind for a little while now and as I’ve mentioned this series is where I tend to express my thoughts through writing the most and this is something I’ve really adopted into my own life recently. Just letting myself rely on others, and not viewing it as a bad or weak thing, just how the world is. We’re all meant to support each other and I often think about how nature does things as a reference for how I as a human should love my life.
Anyway, I hope you liked this little concept fic!
Thanks for reading!

play stupid games, win stupid prizes chapter 16
It’s getting harder to deny that Percy is pretty much unofficially her boyfriend at this point.
They hang out after school, text, call and, of course, kiss. Despite all of that, they still haven’t entirely discussed what they are, and Annabeth knows that she should probably bring it up at some point. But it’s surprisingly difficult to get herself to mention it.
She’s, once again, dwelling on the topic when he appears by her side in the middle of the hall during a passing period.
“You, me, mall after school,” he says quickly.
She’s barely managed to get an “Okay” out before he leans down for a quick peck. Then he’s off down the hall leaving her with seconds before the passing period ends with a blush on her cheeks wondering if anyone saw him do that.
Another trend is how much more brazen he’s been about them lately, with frequent touches and flirting. She doesn’t think people generally think anything of it, but in the friend group it’s so obvious that Leo doesn’t even have to make jokes about it anymore.
Annabeth manages to slip inside the classroom just in time, mind still stuck on Percy and wondering why he chose the mall. (Then again it is getting really close to winter break and too cold to really hang outside.)
Per usual, he shows up by her locker after school.
“Ready princess? He asks but doesn’t wait for a reply as he grabs her hand and starts to pull her towards the exit.
“Sure,” she replies, stumbling a bit at the quickness of his pace. “But why are we going there?”
“I want ramen.”
“And,” he says, shooting her a sideways glance. “you.”
Outwardly, she shakes her head, but internally she feels the telltale giddiness she’s come to associate with Percy.
Percy is bouncy on the car ride, somewhat distractedly trying to hold a conversation while asking about her day.
She’s beginning to think that something is up, there’s more to this than ramen, but she doesn’t say anything.
They get to the mall and Percy reaches for her hand.
“Ready?”
It’s the second time he’s asked her that, and she’s not sure what she needs to be ready for.
“Yeah, you okay?” she asks, unable to help herself.
He shoots her a quick glance. “Yeah, why are you asking?”
She just shrugs, trying to play it down after noticing how he reacted. “Nothing, you just seem…jumpy.”
“That’s cause my heart is racing from being around you,” he says with a grin. A sentiment that would have been sweet is he hadn’t delivered it with such dramatics.
“Sure…” She rolls her eyes.

would percy ever make a cameo in one of annabeths films? like as an extra or something?
“So let's just dive into the clip that everyone is talking about,” the host says with a smile. The screen behind him starts to play the most viral video snippet from the trailer of Annabeth’s new movie.
It shows Annabeth Chase in full character walking alongside her co-star Miranda Green talking very vehemently about her shitty boss.
“And to make the day even worse—” her line gets cut by her tripping and falling forward, only to be saved at the last second by a passerby on the street.
“Thanks,” she says in a rush, eyes turning from the samaritan who just helped her to something just past him. The camera pan a second later reveals the two women looking at a mural on the side of a building, but the video clip cuts off there.
The audience cheers loudly as the screen fades out and the host turns back to Annabeth Chase and Will Solace sitting on the couch next to him.
“It did not take long for the internet to figure out that the guy on the street that catches you is none other than your boyfriend Percy Jackson.”
More cheers as Annabeth smiles and nods.
“Tell us, what’s the story behind that? What happened?”
Annabeth smiles. “The scene wasn’t intentionally planned actually, I really did trip.”
“What? So that was you actually falling?”
“Well, that’s a re-creation. I was running through the lines and ironically as I read the part about my day getting worse I actually tripped. Thankfully, Percy had been visiting the set that day, and rushed forward to catch me before I fell.”
“Ooooohhh!” The audience reacts accordingly and Percy chuckles as he leans back in his seat.
Watching the interview live from the backstage green room is definitely a first for him, but some really nice people had provided some snacks and he feels a lot more settled in now.
“Yeah,” Annabeth chuckles, addressing the audience. “Actually my heels were even taller before and they switched out my shoes so I could walk at the pace we needed for the scene without actually falling. But I would have definitely twisted my ankle if it weren’t for Percy.”
“Awwwwwwww!!” The audience coos and the host agrees.
“That’s incredible. So the director saw that and said to keep it in?”
