When Andrew catches his sleeve to pull it away, Neil startles and seems to settle for distractingly sucking his lower lip into his mouth instead, gaze flashing up to Andrew’s to catch and hold.

Breathing alone feels too loud as time slows and Neil’s lips part.

“Thanks,” he whispers. Then another blink, a sharpening of his eyes in fierce sincerity as he repeats, “Thank you, Andrew.”

“Hmm,” is all the reply Andrew can muster.

Neil, too, seems dry-mouthed and bemused anew they’re here, in real life, together. Alone. In Andrew’s apartment.

Foxtail looms larger than life between them.

The brush of Andrew’s hand against Neil’s warm wrist feels like touching fire, and Neil visibly shivers. Andrew becomes aware that he could very well be doing something that he is not allowed to do, and begins to withdraw, but instead, fingers are circling gently around his wrist.

“Don’t leave,” Neil murmurs, then, “Can I show you something?”

AND..... here is my @aftghalloweenzine cosplay!!!

I've been wanting to cosplay Zombie Cowboy Neil for forever, considering I first read AFTG in I think 2016?? and started cosplaying one Fox after another in 2017? And he's been on the plans roster since early on! So I finally got it done, and honestly, I'm glad I ended up waiting until I had the cosplay skills to really pull him together, rip him up, and make him as gross as I really wanted to 😂

I'm so excited for people to see the completed zine, it's so wonderful!! You can grab the digital version or preorder the physical now!

(Of course though the zine wasn't coming out til later, for actual Halloween, I HAD to cosplay an extra-dressed-up, not-quite-fic-canon witch Andrew and not tell anyone that it was eventually gonna be a reference to the zine fic 😂 so my witch Andrew cosplay isn't in the zine, but my other AFTG Halloween cosplay is 👀)

“Who the fuck are you and what are you doing in my apartment.” Nathaniel slowly lifted his hands as his gaze slipped from the blade now running a tip slowly down his cheek to the man in the doorway of what appeared to be a bedroom. His hand was raised towards Nathaniel, a soft glow feathering through the air between them. The cold expression on his face said he was entirely prepared to carve Nathaniel’s still-rabbiting heart from his chest. Vine-like tattoos wound their way from around his fingers, down the back of his hands and up his arms, disappearing into his sleeves. The unfurling lines shone like molten gold in the near-dark, and his eyes flashed with an equally terrifying light. Witch. Nathaniel had broken into a witch’s house.

Foxtail goes still again when there’s an actual, audible crash somewhere only kind of far away, and as more muffled banging is heard, Andrew can hear Foxtail’s breathing kick up, faster and faster, and his chest is heaving with barely-concealed panic as he leans into the screen to mumble, “Sorry, I have to go for tonight —” and the feed cuts.

Andrew grabs for his phone immediately, even as he’s fumbling around with a foot for his boots to tug on, feel with the other hand for a coat —

ANDREW

What happened? Are you okay

It takes so long — too long — many agonizing minutes of tearing at his thumbnail with his teeth until he tastes iron as he’s pushing out of his apartment, taking stairs down two at a time —

ANOTHER chapter and it hasn't even been a year?? a miracle,,, here's chapter 7 😏

Neil Josten is on the bed, his back pressed against the headboard, curled up in a distinctly wary way as he adjusts to the brightness. His shoulders are hunched, legs pulled up to his chest, and as his hand falls from his face, Andrew can see his eyes seem hunted.

The look drains a little from him as he meets Andrew’s gaze, his frame sagging more than relaxing. “Andrew.”

“Neil,” Andrew returns.

Neil let his head fall into a palm with a ragged sigh. “Fuck, I didn’t know it was you. It was locked, I — I thought it was —”

He cuts himself off and looks back up, abashed, like he’s just realized he’s speaking aloud to someone. “I don’t know,” he finishes lamely, suddenly guarded. “Why are you here?”

Andrew closes the door and leans back against it, sealing away more noise, though the chatter and music still seep through some. “Renee. Why are you?”

Neil laughs sourly. “Allison thought I should come and ‘try to make some new friends.’ Like I could ever do that.”

“No, why are you here?” Andrew opens his palms to the room — a sparse one, but the bed is made with nice sheets, one of the fancy looking curtains slightly pulled up to barely let in a sliver of moonlight. He can tell Reynolds brought him to this party even if he hadn’t been told multiple times — Neil’s maroon button up, rolled up to his elbows, and his dark jeans that don’t drag baggily around his ankles broadcast that easily enough.

Andrew still hates Reynolds, but fuck if she doesn’t know how to dress Neil. Andrew can’t stand that color on him, with his pale eyes, or the cut of it all actually fitted to his body — it’s distracting as hell.

Neil looks at him, rubbing his arm. “There were too many people.”

Andrew is begrudgingly impressed. Neil’s a very good liar.

He pushes off the door to approach, and Neil tenses the slightest bit. Andrew didn’t intend to push any boundaries, so his original path to perch on the edge of the bed’s side table is halted early, placing him simply idling at the foot of the bed. He loops a hand around a low bedpost. “There’s only two now. And yet, you still jump.”

Hop, hop, like an anxious rabbit, heart about to burst.

haha remember when I wrote fic??? well I did again after months and months here's chapter 6 of foxtail!! thank god i did it

“Isn’t it awkward for you?” Andrew finally asks. “Me knowing who you are, and you knowing who I am?”

“No,” Foxtail says too quickly, and Andrew can’t stop a twitch of a smirk, as onscreen, the other man starts to flush slightly. “I mean… well. Maybe, I’m — it’s always been about how it is to talk to you, and, uh.”

“Get off together,” Andrew suggests, and Foxtail laughs.

“I guess. But, you’re just… being able to put an actual name to the username, and a face to that name is just — a bonus.”

“My face is a bonus?”

Foxtail’s own face twists into a familiar smile, playfully mocking. “I mean, I’ve always been into racquets, but you’re nice to look at.”

Andrew fights the urge to roll his eyes — playing on his college lacrosse team is something to do, but certainly not in this capacity. “I have a teammate that the lacrosse kink might work on, but not for me.”

Foxtail’s eyes flash with interest. “You play lacrosse?”

Andrew rubs his temple. “With very little interest, I assure you. Knives won’t do it for you instead?”

The man onscreen visibly withdraws, throat bobbing as his gaze slides sideways and an arm wraps absently around his midsection. His quiet voice is barely disguised disquiet, suddenly. “No. They don’t.”

🩸 Summary:

It was a nice kiss, possibly. Might have been even nicer if Neil didn't have his mom's voice in the back of his mind screaming at him that this was a reckless, dangerous thing and he should've known better, she didn't die protecting him just so he could form useless bonds that would put him in danger—

Andrew bit Neil's lips, hard. Neil didn't even have time to react other than by uttering a quick, “Shit, ow,” before the thin skin broke and Andrew latched onto it—sudden and uncomfortable.

Sucking Neil's blood. 

“You're…“ Andrew started and went for Neil's neck. Neil braced himself to be bitten again, but there was only Andrew's breath, teasing goosebumps out of Neil's skin with its irregular rhythm. “I want to taste you here. Yes or no, Neil?” 

Neil couldn't help but feel challenged. His mom had stopped ringing her incessant litany in the corner of his mind, and everything that was left was the desire to say yes.

So he did.

Neil just wanted to lay low and not get caught by mobsters, but turns out he’s sweeter and more desirable than he thought.
