we dont get to be friends or at least have a nice chat with any of the critters in your game, do we? must we fight?

There is a little of both, but you know, this being a horror game, it can deflate the horror a bit if the monsters are reasonable folks just trying to get by, so the game def has a bit of a bias towards hostility. Negotiating with horrible abominations does happen though! Its an rpg with dialogue trees and all that, not just a turn based combat game.

What happened to to the alien angels? They were so much cooler than those generic biblically accurate angels. They felt more original

I swear I was doing these before they were a big internet meme! See thats the problem with working on something for almost 10 years... Even that one Wendigoon video that helped popularize the trend used one of my sprites in its thumbnail! (he didn't ask me, either - but I figure he just saw that shared online and thought it was from an old game, idk)

The weirder alien angels are still in there. The more symbolic-looking book of Enoch style ones are like, big boss battle style monsters you can fight very late in the game, theyre top of the hierarchy. The more alien ones are a bit lower down in the hierarchy and are found a bit more throughout the game, and they are most of the angels you actually interact with.

I’m wanting to commission a profile avatar portrait, a 110x110 picture for a friend as a gift. Thank you! I could do commissions occasionally, but I'm really swamped with work so I feel like id be pretty unreliable if I did this right now. Idk, send me a more specific request and maybe ill get back to you at one point, just know that its a bit of a crapshoot whether ill actually get around to it.

Just updated Malison's enemy database spreadsheet. Current count of monsters / creatures, depending on how you count them, is anywhere between 1100 and 1600.

1100 is if youre conservative and dont count "NPCs" which begin at 1301 (also taking away a bunch of lines that are category separators), and contain a large number of humans and humanoids, though it also contains many unique boss monsters that have elaborate dialogue trees.

(the projects' folder for sprites alone, though Game Maker does separate animation frames into individual files, so the folders number is more accurate to the sprite count)

Not sure if you take suggestions here but I’ll try anyway, nothin to lose. Try making a moth demon but he’s a distinguished butler with a stiff posture and a snooty, pompous air about him. Like mothman, but dressed to serve with a monocle, cufflinks, a suit, and a stern disposition. Make him handy with a rapier or cane sword and a pot of scalding tea.

Ha, that actually describes a character in the game pretty well, only hes a fly, not a moth. I do have a mothman character too, but hes nothing like that.
