So far the new Blink album isn’t too bad. Nice and refreshing. This is currently the song I’m most into for the moment from the album. What do you think of the new Blink 182 album Nine?

Brendon talking about Taylor Swift’s countdown (April 24th, 2019)

Brendon is out here further expanding his reach and repertoire being a part of Taylor Swift’s new music video “ME!”.  I’m not going to lie, the only reason I’ve listened to this song is because of the fact that Brendon is on this song.
His performance is flawless as always, and while I’m most likely not going to start listening to more Taylor Swift it is nice to see more people know who Brendon Urie is.
(P.S. am I the only one slightly annoyed that more people now know Brendon/Panic! at the Disco as the “High Hopes” band rather than “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”? Please tell me I’m not alone)

New Song Sum 41 “Out for Blood” April 23rd, 2019
Sum 41 premiered a new single titled “Out for Blood” on Sirius Xm radio earlier today around noon.
Right as the song was about to go live the DJ mentioned how Sum 41 are aiming to release their new album currently titled “Order in Decline” this upcoming summer on July 19th. So right after this current “No Personal Space” club tour expect to hear new music, possibly even teasing the new songs while on the road.
For the most part “Out for Blood” is reminiscent of 2013′s 13 Voices sound. It is definitely more heavier than their more punkish catalogue. But it’s not unwelcomed, current skumfuk reactions are mainly positive.
A steady drum beat drives the song along with heavy guitars and Deryck’s vocals are as clear and crisp as ever.
The guitar solo is absolutely insane. When hearing this song live expect not only tons of moshing, but even during the bridge leaves a perfect opportunity for a wall of death. Be prepared
Personally the only gripe I have with this song is it’s chorus, to me it sounds like almost every other chorus to all their other heavy songs. Very constant and fast drum rhythms and guitar shredding. But if that’s what you love about Sum 41′s sound then you’ll love this new single.
Rating: 4/5
What do you think of Sum 41′s new single “Out for Blood”?
Here’s a current link where you can listen for the time being before it’s up on spotify or apple music

On this day in music history: April 12, 1982 - “American Fool”, the fifth album by John Cougar (Mellencamp) is released. Produced by John Mellencamp and Don Gehman, it is recorded at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, CA and Criteria Studios in Miami, FL from October 1981 - February 1982. Recording since 1976 with only minimal success, musician John Mellencamp, still known by his stage name “John Cougar” at the time, is at a career crossroads. After finally scoring his highest charting single to date in 1981 with “Ain’t Even Done with the Night” (#17 Pop), Mellencamp feels significant pressure to deliver a bigger hit, or be dropped from his contract. Writing on his own, with guitarist Larry Crane and childhood friend George M. Green, Mellencamp comes up with more than twenty new songs for his next album. Constantly at odds with Polygram Records who are trying to push the musician in a more pop, middle of the road vein like “Neil Diamond”, John stubbornly resists and stays true to his own musical vision. While hearing the work in progress, A&R executives bluntly tell him that they don’t hear any hits, including “Hurts So Good” (#2 Pop). Written with George Green, John writes the chorus for “Good” first, then finishes lyrics with Green exchanging lines “back and forth”. Picking up his guitar, Mellencamp quickly comes up with the chords for the song. Recording it at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, Polygram is initially unimpressed with “Hurts So Good” but go with it as the first single. Released on April Fool’s Day" in 1982, the song initially gets off to a slow start entering the Hot 100 at #82 on April 24, 1982. It climbs the chart slowly and steadily for the first eight weeks on, then suddenly leaps from #17 to #9 the week of June 19, 1982. From there, it climbs to the runner up spot, spending four weeks behind Survivor’s monster hit “Eye Of The Tiger”. In all, “Hurts So Good” stays on the Hot 100 for twenty eight weeks, including sixteen in the top ten alone. The single also wins Mellencamp a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1983. The follow up “Jack And Diane” (#1 Pop) is an even bigger hit, spending a month at the top of the charts. “Jack” features former David Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson, who is also instrumental in creating the song’s final arrangement. Spinning off one more single with “Hand To Hold On To” (#19 Pop), “American Fool” becomes John Cougar’s long awaited breakthrough album, and one of the biggest sellers of the year. Originally released on CD in the mid 80’s, it is remastered and reissued in 2005, with one additional bonus track. Out of print on vinyl since 1989, it is reissued as a 180 gram LP in 2016 by UMe. “American Fool” spends nine weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 200, and is certified 5x Platinum in the US by the RIAA.

Record Store Day 2019
Happy Record Store Day everybody!
For those of you that don’t know, Record Store Day is a day to celebrate the thousands of independently owned record stores all around the US, and now all around the world. The main attraction is of course, the rare reprints and releases to get customers in the stores and appreciate the culture of the record store community.
Some of the big attractions this year for Record Store Day are Green Day’s 1994 Woodstock performance finally released on vinyl. If you want this rare gem, be sure to get to your local record store today.
Another are of course the picture disks. There are a variety of picture disks but one in particular that is probably going to sell out today is Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody picture disk release. Queen itself is a fan favorite for everyone, especially “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a mandatory headbanger and classic. But with the help of Rami Malek portraying Freddie Mercury in the Biopic of the same name recently, this is sure to be an instant sellout.
This year’s Record Store Day Ambassadors are Pearl Jam so if you’re into classic 90′s grunge, this is just an added bonus.
If you’re in the NYC area like I am here’s a short list of participating record stores where you can snag your own copy:
Rough Trade-Brooklyn, NY 64 North 9th Street
Turntable Labs-New York, NY 84 East 10th Street
Earwax Records-Brooklyn NY, 167 North 9th Street
Academy Records & CD-New York, NY 12 West 18th Street
HiFi Records-Astoria, NY 23-19 Steinway Street
For a list of more available stores in your area, go visit the official Record Store Day website at https://recordstoreday.com/Home
And for those who can’t make it out or can’t compete with the crowds, a lot of these stores will be selling leftover copies on their websites starting tomorrow. So be on the lookout!
What are you looking forward to getting on Record Store Day? Let me know!

I The Mighty at the Gramercy Theatre 4/11/19
I know it’s been quite a long time since I’ve posted or updated really anything on here. Apologies, money gets tight and time gets short.
I did however see I The Mighty last night as they supported Polyphia on tour along with Tides of Man at the Gramercy Theatre and I was not disappointed.
Gramercy Theatre isn’t the biggest venue in NYC by any means. Their capacity is just around 500
Tides of Man opened first. The Prog Rock band from Florida did a decent job of holding the audiences’ attention throughout their short set. The entire set was solely instrumental (which was a perfect fit for a tour supporting Polyphia). Mainly due to their lead vocalist leaving back in 2010. These guys let the music speak for itself. That being said there wasn’t much of a stage performance from the band. But if you’re looking for a good band just to vibe to when you don’t want to be distracted from lyrics and really connect to the music. Overall, recommend.
I The Mighty was up next. Although they were the supporting band on tour, a majority of the crowd was fully amped for when they came on stage.  While in the crowd there were many people who had no idea who I The Mighty were; yet all were thoroughly enjoying the performance and bobbing along.
The band played a good number of songs from their latest album Where the Mind Wants to Go/Where You Let it Go, the biggest crowd pleaser was “Chaos in Motion”. Bassist Chris Hinkley did an excellent job engaging with the audience throughout and getting them on their feet and moving around to the music. Brent Walsh’s vocals sound exactly as it does on the record. The amount of passion and fun these guys had on stage truly showed through and radiated throughout the venue.
Their stage performance was highly entertaining. From Chris jumping onto the drum riser mid song, Brent running around the stage, Ian completely owning his skill set on the guitar, and Blake just killing it on the drums; there was never a dull moment on stage.
The most heartfelt moment of the night was right before they played their newest single “Cave In”. Brent tells the crowd how this song in particular took around 15 years to write, because of the personal aspects that he’s dealt with and all that going into the song. He tells of how most people have dealt with addiction in some form, drug, alcohol, etc. and how his connection was through his father and alcohol. He makes a point not to preach and say for each and every person to live their own lives, but to apologize to the people you’ve hurt along your way once you realize it. A very sentimental and intimate moment shared in a most intimate way.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m still a student and needed to go to bed so I didn’t stay for the entirety of Polyphia’s set. I did stay for the first few songs they played though. I did appreciate their running joke of asking the audience to sing along if they know the words being a primarily instrumental band. I’ve never seen an audience mosh so hard to instrumental music before so that was new and exciting to see (from afar). Much more intense than Tides of Man with a lot of great energy and passion. While I didn’t stay for the entire show, I do see myself listening to more of the self proclaimed “Greatest Metal Band Ever” in the future.

How about a punk/rock filled October? A different music recommendation every day leading up to Halloween. Little Monster by Royal Blood on their first self titled album is always a personal favorite.
