👀 ghost fic sounds like pain

Yessssss the ghost fic hurts in the best way imo. I've talked about it a little before (here), but it's basically a canon divergence of infinite crisis where Dick did die. Tim and Bruce have a falling out over it, resulting in Bruce going on the trip around the world from One Year Later and Tim staying in the mansions by himself. Dick dying was one hit too many for Tim's psyche, so he ends up isolating himself and burying himself in work. He's deep enough in it that it takes him a while to notice that things in the Manor seem a bit off. Electrical malfunctions in new wiring; sounds in the middle of the night with no apparent origin; shadows that seem to move on their own...

The eventual conclusion he comes to is that Dick is dead, but that doesn't mean he's gone. But figuring out what to do about that is an entirely different problem.

now that they’re all laid out and colored, it feels very power rangers for some reason.

Anyway, this is me combining my favorite elements of Tim’s costumes. It’s basically an adult Tim Drake AU (because DC refuses to give us a canon adult Tim— LET HIM AGE PLEASE) as a follow up to this post.

Here’s some notes:

Tim is lithe and does not build up defined muscle easily. I should do more anatomy studies at some point, but Tim’s strong suit isn’t brute strength anyway.

I’ve taken to calling this the Pilcrow AU, but honestly, I’m just so obsessed with Tim’s self-image in the Unternet essentially just being a caped Nightwing that this could also be Flamebird design.

The single stripe on the side is supposed to mimic the Pilcrow symbol (¶) but I didn’t want to make it too obvious because then it’d feel too similar to Anarky’s A.

WINGS. GIVE HIM BACK HIS WINGS.

The wings have magnets in them that can connect to the arm bracers for more precise control. They’re more for gliding than sustained flight, but I could picture a jetpack or something being hidden in there.

Beak mask.

I miss Tim’s spiked skater boy hair, but the middle part is fine. I like to think the y-axis of his hair has a direct correlation with his emotional stability. His hair spiking up is when he’s emotionally not-terrible and his hair is long when he’s extremely emotionally unstable (ex. Red Robin 2009). I cannot stand his undercut in the current mainline comics. He looks like a fuckboy.

He’s got a lot of invisible pockets and hidden compartments. Some of them are just blended into the fabric.

The black sides against the black underwing feathers helps prevent enemies from striking precise blows. It’s an optical illusion.

20-something year old adult Tim is 5’7”. Cass is like 5’3” and Steph is 5’10”. I will not take any criticism. When Tim was a teenager, before his final growth spurt, he and Cass could swap clothes. Meanwhile, Steph has always been taller than him and will continue to hold it over his head.

I'm so disappointed that there are people on this site--people I respected--bemoaning a Palestinian slogan and ignorantly spreading misinformation about it, claiming that it calls for genocide, when there is an actual genocide being executed on the people of Palestine at this very moment.

A quick Google and read of any reputable source reveals that the slogan and its use is much more complex than a dog whistle tumblr post portrays. In every struggle for freedom, slogans and symbols and words of power have been coopted, demonised and spun by the oppressing entity.

I unfollowed the person who reblogged it--a shame because they are a true talent--but with 40,000 now dead, there are critical standards I cannot ignore.

I'm not into PJ but this is too incredible not to share. Wow, OP!!!!!! Not just the talent and skill but the discipline to create this is truly remarkable.

A few months ago, I said on this blog that in my head PJO is an anime with a badass opening credits. I meant it quite literally, like I can actually picture this OP in my head, with all the shonen tropes like Percy walking around pretty backgrounds, cool fighting scenes with lots of camera movements and huge statues of the Gods standing ominously in the background, Nico standing in the rain till Reyna and Hazel and Jason come for him and a ray of sunshine breaks throught the clouds and light hits his hopeful face, GIMME ALL THE TROPES hahaha. Doing the whole opening would be impossible for a single person but I really wanted to try one big “shonen” group shot, so here you are !!! This actually took me AGES, I’m not kidding, the folder for this on my computer is named “batshit crazy ” for a reason, it may not look like it if you don’t know animation but a really huge amount of work went into this. I think it’s actually the biggest thing I ever did for a fandom. I can’t say how many hours I spent on it since I didn’t count, but let’s say I started this in September and spent a lot of week ends and most of my Christmas holidays on it, and I just finished it this week. I had a lot of fun though !!! And I learned a lot too, this was my first time trying to animate japanimation style, with not many in-betweens and ultra dynamic poses. So yeah, I hope you guys will like it !

I want to thank fimyuan and bisexualjason for keeping me motivated with their lovely comments through the project, even when I was complaining about my own decisions to animate friggin’ skeletons, hahaha. Another big thank you to my friend Wekake who went through the animation frame by frame and spotted all the little compositing mistakes that remained ;p

A few words on the process : I animated and colored everything in TV Paint, drew the background in Photoshop, and composited everything in After Effects. The song is an extract of the Yowapeda opening “Reclimb” by Rookiez is Punk’d because I wanted something very distinctively shonen but no lyrics, and I like that song ^^ I animated directly without any model sheet references which is definitely not how you should do it, hahaha, hence the design inconsistencies, but honestly even my madness had its limit and I didn’t want to spend more than a year on this thing ;p

Every once in awhile we could all do with a little reminder that, in a serious fight, Dick Grayson absolutely can and will put Batman on the fucking floor in a fight. Dick Grayson is genuinely one of the coolest, kindest, most trustworthy superheroes on the planet, they're all right to trust him more than anyone right after Superman himself, hell, he often downplays his own strengths because he's about trying to bring justice and light into the world where he can, but he also will eat you for fucking breakfast and spit you back out, even if you're Bruce Wayne, when he needs to, and the only thing that stops him is his brother pulling him back. When it counts, when it really comes down to the wire, when there's no extra planning or cheating or special circumstances, when a line is drawn in the sand, when these two start swinging for real--Dick Grayson is the one you stand behind because he's the better fighter than Batman and we all deserve to be reminded of that sometimes, as a treat. WE ALL DESERVE TO SEE DICK GRAYSON PUNCH AN ASSHOLE TO THE FLOOR AND IT WAS SO GODDAMNED SATISFYING.
