Hi.

I’ve kind of fallen out of my Fairy Tail obsession and followed a friend into a new fandom, but I’ll eventually post everything in my drafts here, and I will still be here occasionally. 

Most of that is due to FT100 years quest. The spin off has comepletely destroyed the characters down to their bare bones, flattening them in a way that has made them unappealing and has erased all of their character growth. It’s upsetting to see. 

I’m not deleting or anything, and as always feel free to keep and use anything I post in your own works.

Any Loke headcannons? I’ve got a lot angst headcannons but something fluffy would be nice to hear.

Sure! 

-Since he is the spirit Leo, he has a lot more cat like tendedncies than he likes to show, but Fairy Tail has figured most of them out over the years.

-Catnip gets him high off his ass and it’s hilarious. His eyes do the cat thing where their pupils dialate to be huge. 

-Loke LOVES having his hair played with, but he also won’t ask for anyone to play with it. 

-Unless he’s drunk. When he’s drunk he can and will lie across his friend’s laps and pout until they start playing with his hair. 

-He is capable of purring, but only two people of ever seen it (Cana and Bickslow) both of which he’s made swear to not tell anyone. 

-He and Bickslow play subtle pranks on their guildmates all the time. One time they snuck into the guild late at night and carefully moved everything 2 inches to the left. Almost everyone bumped into someone that day.

-He “secretly” loves soft love songs, but if asked he will only reccomend you raunchy sex songs.  Most everyone in Fairy Tail knows better though. 

-He plays cards with Gray and Cana every Friday night unles sone of them is on a mission. The stories from that are always wild, and occasionally a few others join in. 

-He can and will pet every stay cat he comes across. Nothing will stop him, even if they bite and scratch him. 

-He’s a part of the guild’s gossip ring, and he’s actually really good at giving relationship advice. A lot of the girls he talks to are there getting help, and his flirty nature is just a part of the charasmatic personality he uses for appearances sake. They all know his compliments are genuine and that his advice is invaluable. 

-He’s wonderful at giving fashion advice too, so Lucy often calls on him to get help picking her outfits. They can talk for hours about fashion.

Why do people get so upset with Fairy Tail’s power of friendship stuff? There’s canonical reasons and theoretical ones for why it works, unlike a lot of other anime that people try to compare it to. Going “plus ultra” (BNHA) and “talk no jutsu” (Naruto) are also power of friendship, but they’re more accepted for some reason? Friendship is supposed to be a big part of Fairy Tail’s narrative (though it does fall flat at times do to certain things being unexplored or just flat our unmentioned in the narrative and other such reasons, that’s not what this post is about. I may go over the things I wished Fairy Tail went over in another post some day, but this one is about the canonical backing for what people claim is a bullshit friendship based deus ex machina in Fairy Tail.  1: During the first major arc we're introduced to an ability of Natsu's: The Flames of Emotion. His flames can be feuled by his magic AND by his emotions towards a situation, meaning that "the power of friendsip" is really just his anger towards assholes and worry for his friends are helping to feul his magic. It canonically makes him stronger against opponents who were beating them down before, unlike a lot of other anime, where the same is not only accepted, but it’s expected.

2: the Tenrou tree. The tree is canonically connected to Fairy Tail and all it's members by their guildmark. the closer you are to the tree, the faster you regain magic, heal, and the stronger you are. This tree and the island's ability to help those with the guildmark is a part of what inspires the guild's whole "friendship makes you stronger" motto (Fairy Tail Zero). 

That being said, I have a working theory that close proximity to others with the Fairy Tail guild mark works the same way as the Tenrou tree does, and helps you to power up more because of the connection and magic, but Mashima would have to set better rules for how magic works in fairy Tail before this theory could be confirmed.

Headcanon wise though, this theory works because because of a feedback loop with ethernano that connects them to the tenrou tree and each other through their guild marks, and the more of them there are in one place, the stronger the connection to the tree is, even if it’s across a greater distance. 

This could also be extended to Fairy Tail’s allies by connecting other guildmarks into the system, however, this part is also only a theory.

Can you do Loke headcanons?

Yep! Sorry this took so long! 

-Loke isn’t the strongest physically when he first joins Fairy Tail, so he has to find a way to work around that. How you may ask? Well he takes a leaf out of Blue Pagasus’s book and becomes an informant and spy. 

-Many of the girls he flirts with are actually bringing him coded information in the form of flirting. 

-The fact that no one but Makarov, Mira, Cana, and Gray know is a testament to his ability to be sneaky. 

-He helps run the gossip ring in the guild too, so he’s really good at creating rumors and misinformation to, which helps keep people from finding out the truth about things. 

-His charisma allows him to slip right under people’s noses. All he has to do is change his hair style and outfit a bit and he can sneak into pretty much anywhere. It Also has to do with the fact that he can change how he decides to carry himself in a split second. 

-Years and years of being a celestial spirit has given him amazing insights to how certain people’s brains work and that also helps him with picking at people’s brains for information. 

-Outside of work this helps him notice when his guildmates are trying to hide their sadness or if they aren’t feeling as great as they try to say they are. He doesn’t usually call them out on this directly, but he does tent to do small things for them if he can, like helping Mira out in the kitchen. 

-Gray and Cana are exceptions to that, he can and will say they look like shit to their face and will pester them to talk until they feel better. 

-Bickslow is aware that is soul is falling apart the longer he stays out of the celestial spirit realm, and that Loke isn’t human. This leads to a rather awkward conversation, but it causes them to be friends in the long run, and bickslow promises to keep his secret. 

-however this means Bickslow calls his ass out when he needs to rest, and that Bickslow was one of the most frantic people in the guild when Loke left fairy Tail, thinking that he was going to die. 

-after the whole battle of Fairy Tail mess is over, and he has visual proof that Loke is actually alive and looks better than he has in years, he thanks Lucy profusely for saving his stubborn friend.

MORE EVER PLEASE ANYTHING WILL DO

It’s Evergreen supremacy rn. 

-Ever’s magic has caused some damage to her eyes, but not too much. She’s just a little near sighted.

-She has a dagger that attaches to a thigh sheath and is easily hidden under her dresses and skirts. It was a birthday gift from Laxus when she turned 16. 

-She can out drink the rest of the raijinshuu nine times out of ten, but she doesn’t drink heavily very often. She prefers to sip her drinks.

-She regrets telling Bickslow that her favorite colors are green and purple, because if he buys her clothing now, it’s always one of those two colors. She still wears them anyways though because as long as he’s not dressing himself, his sense of style isn’t terrible. 

-the raijinshuu has pretty low standards for that though, considering Laxus’s sorry excuse for a sense of style. He has a giraffe print shirt for fucks sake.

-She eats ice cream by biting into it. It disturbs Freed, Bickslow, and Laxus, and she takes great joy in that. 

-She never wears flats. Never. She can fight in 9 inch stilletos and she’s proud of that. However this means that the most common injury she gets is a sprained ankle because of landing wrong on her off days. Once she learned how to fly those decreased exponentially. 

-If someone has to take messages back and forth while they’re on a mission, it’s usually her or Laxus. The speed at which she can fly is very useful in this instance.

-Her Fairy Magic is OP and people don’t talk about it enough. Do you know how easy it would be to lay traps with it? how easy she could blow up entire buildings? When Fairy Tail members say that the Raijinshuu is strong, they aren’t just talking about the boys and anyone who doesn’t believe them is gonna find out first hand.

Could you do Edolas headcanons please?

Of course! I can’t think of too many off the top of my head, but have these!

-Edo Alzack and Bisca had a love at first site story. They fell fast and hard and made sure everyone knew it. 

-Edo Levy and Lucy don’t actually hate each other, but they’ll deny it until the end of time. In reality, Levy fixes things for her all the time and Lucy nabs parts for her whenever she can. 

-Edo Natsu’s car belonged to Igneel, who started teaching him to drive it when he was seven. They were hunted down during a mission when Natsu was ten, and Igneel shoved him in and told him to drive away, and he’d hop in the back. He didn’t jump in, and instead stayed behind to make sure they wouldn’t chase Natsu.

-so Edo Natsu blames himself for his dad being captured and he has no idea if he’s alive or not. This is what destroyed his confidence, and why the only place he feels like himself is inside the car. It’s his last connection to Igneel.

-Edo Gray is the only one who knows, and that’s why they’re so close. 

-Edo Cana also does tarot, and she’s just as scarily accurate. They make jokes about her having internal magic because of it. 

- Edo Mira and Elfman knew that Lisanna wasn’t their Lisanna the whole time, but regardless, she’s their sister, so they took care of her.

-Edo Gajeel might be a journalist, but he also plays the saxophone for local cafes in his freetime.

I have mixed thoughts on Gajevy for multiple reasons. 

Canon Gajevy is very meh. Once Gajeel was introduced, Levy became kind of an orbital character where her story only really revolved around him. We know next to nothing about her compared to some of the other characters. Canon Levy is also designed to look almost like a 14-15 year old more so than a petite woman so that kinda unnerves me at points, but that could just be Mashima’s art style(because he tends to draw children with much larger eyes and she’s drawn eerily similar to Wendy). (it’s also why I like to pretend 100yq doesn’t exist. it’s not my Fairy Tail lol) But that’s a whole conversation on Japan’s interest in drawing adults women like children for the sake of fulfilling inapropriate fantasies (note how out of all the ships in FT, Levy was the one to get pregnant. :/), and that would be a very very very long post if I got into that. 

Edit: over time, I realize the above wasn't quite as true as I thought. Mashima's art style changed how she was drawn over time and she went from looking more childlike to looking more like petite woman the more I analyzed. (Excluding her first appearance where she was different all together) she was also consistently acknowledged as an adult even while she looked younger, so I assume he may have just been figuring out how to draw her. I was mostly looking at earlier appearances of Levy and Gajeel for this post as well. It easily could have been much more intentional: if others referred to her as a child (like with Wendy) or if she didn't age (like Mavis or literally every other non-aging "loli" character in anime).

However I'm going to leave my original text in, because removing it would be trying to hide it existed, and what I talked about is so a very real issue even if it's not as relevant to this ship as I believed.

Fanon though? When people actually fix her appearance so that she looks like the petit woman she is? They’re very very cute, and even if they aren’t my favorite ship (I’m fond of making them a poly with Erik because of Gajeel’s spin off, as well as many many other ships because my multishipper heart just wants to give all the characters love). I felt they deserved a lot more development than they got, and if we actually knew more about Levy, she could have been such a good character.

But that’s what fanon is for: Fixing Mashitma’s fuck ups! 

So have some fun headcanons for them: 

-Levy is the big spoon 90% of the time, and Gajeel is indeed a cuddle whore. 

-Gajeel eats the silverware in the guild and Levy is the only person who can get him to stop. 

-Levy always has snacks on hand for him and can make them if she doesn’t. Solid script is very helpful for that after all. 

-Levy will sit and play with Gajeel’s hair for hours on end, and he’ll purr loudly the entire time. 

-Gajeel likes to sleep on metal roofs because he can absorb heat the same way metal does. This means Levy can’t hug him when he first comes inside after several hours in the sun because she’ll get burnt. Luckily the heat disperses after a few minutes.

-Gajeel can barely cook because he never bothered to learn. He used to just eat metal in Phantom. Levy started teaching him about a year after they got together.

-When sleepy Gajeel speaks with a thick dravic accent. Levy struggles to understand soemtimes. it leads to lots of funny inside jokes.

-Levy will sometimes read to him while they cuddle. It’s a comfort activity for them both. 

-Gajeel buys any book he things Levy will like. Sometimes even when she already has it. To be fair she has a whole library and he doesn’t know every book she has by heart.

-Gajeel sings to her any time she lets him. He sounds better when he sings softly too. It’s very soft.

Can you do E.N.D. headcanons?

I’m gonna be real with you, I hate the END plot the way it is in canon, so have my very anti-canon headcanons.

-Natsu and E.N.D. are one and the same, but that even extends to their personality. The only difference is their appearance and how many memories Natsu has in tact.  E.N.D. 

-the book also isn’t attached to his life force the way the rest of the etherious are. this is because he’s the only one that has a human soul and base. Zeref used what was left of his actual body to revive him, and healed it in the process. So he was healed by ether, not made from it. 

-E.N.D. was never meant to be a monster. He was meant to teach the members of tartaros what it was to be human. how to have emotions, how to care for people, ect. They were supposed to protect people by sacrificing themselves to kill Zeref. 

-the only thing opening E.N.D.’s book does is return the memories Natsu had sealed away, which includes but is not limited to: His birth family, his parents, Zeref, dying, his first language, how to use several other kinds of magic, and surprisingly, some of the more powerful spells Igneel taught him. 

-E.N.D. can control whether or not he looks human or more dragon like in appearance, and to what degree. He can also fully shift into a dragon, but that’s incredibly tiring the first several times. Usually, he leaves himself with little nubby horns, his nails sharpen into claws, and there’s some scales running across his body. 

-E.N.D. was never the leader of Tartaros. The demons there just have it written into their memories that he was, so that if he ever decided to take charge they would listen to him. 

-this is because Zeref recognized how twisted some of the members of Tartaros were, and he feared they would taint Natsu’s kindness before he could take over. That’s why he left him with Igneel instead, which has the added bonus of Igneel teaching Natsu to be immune to fire. 

-Igneel was supposed to take him to tartaros after he was about 15, but he never intended to give Natsu over to them. He felt that Natsu deserved to live in an environment full of love instead. 

-He ended up in Fairy Tail. so that wish was fulfilled. (Though I hate the idea that the dragons just left them alone and the whole eclipse gate bullshit, I won’t get into that here.)

-When Natsu finds out he’s  E.N.D., he panics, but when the book opens and he literally doesn’t feel any different... there’s a lot less panic. 

-That doesn’t stop the nightmares. the more he remembers, the more nightmares there are, but all that gets over taken when he remembers how he died. 

-The building he was in was crushed and he burned alive. The fact there was enough of his corpse left for Zeref to do anything with was almost a bigger miracle than Zeref bringing him back from the dead.

-It leaves him terrified of his own magic for awhile, and was the second reason he left for a year. He decided to force himself to face his new fear by slowly reteaching himself his own magic. The nightmares don’t stop, but his magic slowly becomes something that soothes hims instead of causing him more fear. 

-He also takes that time to learn how to use his curses, not because he intends to use them in battle, but because he’d rather have control over them than accidentally hurt someone due to his own negligence. 

-Going through his memories, relearning all the magics he knew growing up, grieving Igneel, and overcoming his new fear was a long long process, which is why it took him the entire year. He never meant to be gone for so long. 

-he also has to come to terms with the fact that since he’s the reason Zeref toyed with death magic and became cursed, he’s now the only one that can kill him. While it hurts more to think about now that he remembers his big brother... his big brother and the monster who caused his family so much pain are two different people, and he recognizes that. He comes to see killing Zeref as a mercy.

-as soon as he comes back and Fairy Tail is back in one place, he tells them about everything. He didn’t think there was any reason to keep it secret, even with Gray shouting about killing  E.N.D. 

-of course it causes a fight between Natsu and Gray, but after a week or so of fighting it out and eventually talking it out, they come to an understanding. 

-The guild is supportive of him and intends to stand by Natsu regardless, because family is defined by who you chose to call family, not necessarily by blood.

Can we have more Bickslow headcannons? And maybe Evergreen, Freed, and Lexus too?

Fuck yeah you can! I’m gonna start with a lot of angst and then move into their dynamics as a team. (this got REALLY long but I’m not sorry)

-I gave you all my HC for Freed’s backstory in my last post and mentioned that Freed is the reason that Bickslow and Evergreen joined the guild, so have both their backstories too! 

-Bickslow grew up in a travelling circus with several other child performers. It wasn’t exactly a nice environment. There were lots of issues and safety hazards and abuse going on behind the scenes, but they were forced to keep smiling and performing through it all. 

-Bickslow was especially targeted by the ringmaster because of his magic allowing him to look into people’s souls. The ringmaster is the one who forced him to wear a helmet when he wasn’t using his ability on the crowd for money. 

-Because of that, he only had five friends back then, all children younger than he was, who looked up to him both for his tricks and the fact that no matter how upset he was, he had a smile for them.

-one day the tent caught fire during a practice. Bickslow was the only one to make it out alive. 

-but considering all the traumatic events they went through, most of the children kept there weren’t able to move on, and their spirits lingered in the area... Except for the five kids who were most fond of Bickslow. They stayed near him and talked to him all the time, especially once they realized he could see them. You still have a soul as a spirit after all. 

-the town he was in began to think he was crazy because he was “talking to the air” all the time, and they would continuously call child services to try and take him to an orphanage. The five spirits however, would warn him before they could, and Bickslow used his years of acrobatics skills to stay away from anyone who tried to move him away from where the circus burned down. It may have been a place of trauma, but there were good memories too, and it’s all he had. 

-So the town tried one last gamble. Who better to adopt a child with mysterious magic that Fairy Tail? 

-And Makarov, in an attempt to get Laxus to be more social, decided to send him and Freed. 

-It went about as well as you’d expect. Laxus tried to fight him while Freed did research on the area and what happened to him. 

-Laxus didn’t have as much control over his magic as he thought he did at that age, and Bickslow was kicking his ass before Freed showed up and trapped him so they could talk.

-Freed shared his story with him and offered the same thing Laxus once offered him: a home. 

-Bickslow cracked soon after that, and told them everything after Freed started asking questions about the town thinking he’s crazy while they were on the train back to magnolia. 

-While many members of Fairy Tail were unnerved by him, those around their age did their best to make him feel at home. Natsu listened to all his stories about the circus and about the five ghosts who followed him, and Bickslow listened to his stories about the dragons. 

-Freed used this time to research Seith magic extensively, and he eventually came across the idea of putting the souls into objects. He and Bickslow worked for weeks to figure out how to do it, and the five spirits became his five main “dolls.” 

-He of course, asked them if they were okay with being alongside him before putting them inside the tiki dolls, and if he cried when they said there was nowhere else they’d rather be? Well Freed and Laxus weren’t going to tell anyone about it. 

-Evergreen was both harder and easier to get back to Fairy Tail. 

-Like Freed, She was once a part of the noble class, but under a name she never wants to use again. 

-When she gained her eye magic, she accidentally turned her mother to stone, and it was all downhill from there. Her father tried to keep her locked in a room, and it worked for a long time. 

-Eventually though, she had decided she’d had enough, and snuck out and ran as far away as she could. She kept a ribbon tied around her eyes any time she had to go into town, and learned how to walk while completely blind. This did some damage to her eyesight after several years of doing it. 

-it felt like it was too good to be true. She was free and she did odd little jobs in a town far from her original home to earn money for food. it was all she needed..... Until a child tore the ribbon from her face. 

-the second she made eye contact, the little boy turned to stone. There was nothing she could do about it except cover her face up again and run. 

-her father, however, had notified several guilds about her disappearance and claimed she was dangerous if left alone, so when stories spread about a homeless child turning a boy to stone, it became their first lead in months. 

-there was a lull in fighting missions at the time, and something about her magic intrigued Freed. It was an eye magic like his and Bickslow’s first magics, and they aren’t exactly common. Freed, Laxus, and Bickslow took it upon themselves to take the mission to bring her home.

-She very quickly figured out how to hide herself in the woods and away from people. Freed had to trap the entire area and make it so that eye magics don’t work within his barriers before they could even get close to her. It took almost a month. 

-And much to their surprise, she was nothing like what they were expecting. After all, they were supposed to be hunting down a nobleman’s son, not a daughter.

-Bickslow almost immediately asks her about why she ran away, and Ever looks up at him- then panics as she slams her eyes shut- but he doesn’t turn to stone because of Freed’s runes, and he explains as such. 

-They have a long conversation about why she ran away, and she tells them everything her father did to her, from being locked in her room to being terrified to tell him she’s his daughter and not his son because of his anger issues.

-They realize then and there they can’t give her back to him, and Freed comes up with the plan to tell him that they didn’t find his son, but rather a random girl with a similar magic, and she can join Fairy Tail instead of staying on the run. 

-The only reason she doesn’t agree immediatly is because of her eye magic. She couldn’t control it, and the idea of turning someone to stone again scared her.

-Freed sent Laxus to buy a pair of glasses without a prescription and a nice dress for her to wear, and he etches runes into the glasses to block her eye magic when they’re on.

-She’s sold from that moment on, and the raijinshuu’s friendship is sealed with that secret. 

-Laxus helps her chose her name before they get onto the train, and they solidify the story before then too  

-Makarov Accepts the story without question, even though they have a sneaking suspicion he knows. 

-They become a tight knit group in no time. 

-Then they learn about Ivan and all he did to Laxus, and they start to jokingly refer to themselves as the Laxus protection squad. It’s a lot less of a joke when Ivan’s actually around though, and the guild definitely notices. Makarov even starts to officially call them that in some reports. 

-No one remembers who suggested the name “raijinshuu,” but they all privately agree it’s dumb. Especially since  it insinuates that Laxus is the team leader. Freed’s the captain of their team for a reason.

-Dispite the fact that Bickslow is the tallest of them, both Laxus and Freed are both physically stronger than him. That’s not to say he isn’t strong, but Laxus can carry freakish amounts of weight due to his slayer biology, and Freed does the same due to his demon biology. 

-Freed can carry all of them at once. No one knows how. 

-Freed puts new runes on Ever’s glasses every time she gets new frames or a new prescription. He knows she doesn’t need it anymore, but she’s always grateful for the option. 

-if they share a bed, Freed and Ever cannot sleep next to each other. Their hair tangles together and they’ve only had to make that mistake once. 

-Ever and Bickslow are not under any circumstances allowed to cook, Freed can make fancy meals, and Laxus makes homemade stuff that would make your mouth water. He also stress bakes in secret at four am. 

-That’s how they always know he’s stressed when he doesn’t tell them. It’s kind of hard to miss 6 batches of cookies that spontaneously appeared overnight

-Freed has an unsharpened rapier that feels like getting hit with a slap bracelet at full speed. Naturally, this is the sword he chases Bickslow with when he pisses him off. 

-Laxus likes to pretend he’s one of the smartest members of the guild, but the raijinshuu knows he’s actually kind of a himbo. 

-Bickslow is really close friends with Loke, and when he noticed the man was dying slowly, the others comforted him despite not knowing what was going on.

-Bickslow often helps ghosts pass on from the mortal plane. 

-Evergreen keeps up with all the latest fashion, but she still considers Freed to be more fashionable. Because of this she always double checks her outfits with him. 

-Evergreen’s always the first to sass someone when they’re being rude to her team. It’s earned her her reputation as a “bitch” but she’s far too proud of it to be offended.

-One Laxus was open about his dragon slayer magic, they pushed him to talk to the other slayers to learn about himself and his magic. Freed and Bickslow pushed the hardest though, since they’re friends with Natsu and knew that he would be all too willing to drag Laxus into his little family of dragon slayers.

-Laxus was much happier oncce he accepted that he was more dragon that human anyways, and the more he learned, the happier he was. 

-In case it wasn’t clear: mtf Trans!Ever (she/her exclusively), he/they Freed, and  wtf is gender, is it a food?” Laxus and Bickslow (any pronouns).

Can you do Freed headcannons please?

Yes I can! and you'll be getting more Freed headcanons later because there's another ask about Freed(+Laxus, Bickslow, and Evergreeen) headcanons! Some of these are really angsty so I’m sorry in advance. (also slightly inspired by some of my friends HCs, they know who they are <3)

-Freed’s parents were overly religious assholes, so when he turned out to have a type of demonic magic... well it didn’t go over too well. 

-There were many allegations of child abuse from their neighbors, but not one of them went through. The Justine’s were “too Noble” for that, and the more it escalated the more it was ignored. Eventually, they went as far as to try and exorcise him, and when it didn’t work, they let priest after priest try it.

-this is why he knows holy water can burn him if he’s not wearing a runic protection against it 

-Long story short, he ran away at about 9 years old, and was just trying to get by on the streets. Unfortunataly, this is what caused the townspeople to start comparing him to a real demon, and they send out a request for the guilds to “deal with him.”

-Laxus was lucky enough to take the quest, and he befriended Freed and brought him back to Fairy Tail after a lot of fighting and some talking.(mostly fighting) 

-Freed was really reserved when he first joined, and it took a a long while before he trusted anyone, let alone opened up. However, He got the closest to Laxus. He’s the one that brought Freed to Fairy Tail, which is the most welcoming place he’s ever been in.

-He has very few friendships outside of Laxus until Bickslow and Evergreen join the guild, and he’s responsible for bring both of them to the guild. Laxus’s kindness rubbed off on him, and he offered them a place on their team.

-Over time, he also becomes close friends with Cana, Rheedus, Levy, Erza, Mira, Gray, Natsu, and Lucy, and he keeps up those friendships for years to come

Cana and Gray are easy to talk to or to hang out with in silence if one of the three of them needs it. They’re casual drinking buddies once they’re older.

He practices sword fighting with Erza every Thursday that he’s not away on missions. She’s unpredictable and it keeps him sharp and on his toes. It does the same for her, because he’s just as unpredictable, and his rune barriers giver her a nice challenge.

He spars often with Mira for similar reasons to Erza. She also tends to have all the juicy gossip that’s going around, and he’s not going to miss out on that. She’s also gets lots of gossip about important people from Freed in return. 

He looks through ancient archives and tombs with Lucy and Levy, and he values their contributions greatly. They’ve been the reason he finds all the information he needs on several occasions and vice versa. They go through so information in so little time when working together.

He has a major appreciation for Rheedus’s art and magic, and trusts him to create 3D models of artifacts he’s studying or of places he and Laxus (later the entire raijinshuu) have to go. Rheedus also enjoy’s drawing Freed in his more complex outfits or even just drawing his runes. It gives him practice with detail work

Natsu, being the son of the king of dragons, knows a massive amount of information about Dravic society and all it entails to be their prince, and Freed finds it fascinating. They talk through it while sarring, which later helps Freed with Laxus’s more dravic instincts, and helps Natsu process some of his own trauma.

-Freed wears clothing that covers his entire body because of the burns from the holy water he got as a child. it takes years of hearing Ever, Bicks, and Laxus tell him that they’ve faded a lot and that no one will care to wear the speedo Ever got him as a gag gift. 

-But once he wears it the first time, he takes to wearing tank tops and shorts while training, or even casually around the guild. 

-If he finds out that anyone speaks another language, he learns it so he can speak with them. He considers Isvani (which he learned for Gray) and Dravic (which he learned for and from Natsu) to be the most difficult languages to speak verbally, and demonic languages the hardest to write in. 

-Natsu cried when he asked to learn dravic because he thought he’d never get to speak it again. Freed fully expected that.

-What he didn’t expect was Gray crying the first time he spoke isvanian to him. Gray was still very emotionally closed off at that point. 

-He and Mira speak in demonic languages to scare the shit out of strangers. 

-After Asuka is born, he lets her paint his nails all the time. it’s streaky and sometimes clumy at first but he wears it proudly anyways. 

-He/they pronouns. it took a long while to realize he was Non-Binary, but he accepted it pretty easily. 

-Freed has one of the best fashion senses in the guild, and Ever often comes to him to double check she looks okay..... and to talk shit about Laxus’s god awful sense of fashion. Who wears a giraffe print shirt???

-he’s really really good at card games. that’s why he lays so often with Cana, Gray, Natsu, and Loke. Many bets are won, and many bets are lost. 

-he’s not a light weight or a heavy drinker. he’s right in the middle.
