Weekend Remix: That Saikyo Sound
Song: Saikyo Groovn
By: DJ Kariu The Gameboy
Based On: Dan’s Theme from Street Fighter Alpha 2
Original Composers: Setsuo Yamamoto, Shun Nishkagi, Tatsuro Suzuki
Has Dan Hibiki become the new cool? It’s a question we hope to examine in this week’s Weekend Remix.
What started off as a bad Art Of Fighting parody, has developed into its own unique character in the form of Dan. While his pink clad origins made him a joke in Street Fighter Alpha, his resonance with fans has caused the hyper fighter to develop beyond just a cheap throwaway joke.
And while not entirely taken seriously for his personality, his developed move-set and backstory from Capcom has caused many gamers to no longer think of Dan as the character you choose to simply embarrass the competition. So yeah, one second fireball and all, Dan is cool. And thanks to this house techno tinged remix from the great DJ Kariu, the Saikyo-Karate Style master is made even cooler.
It’s hard to pinpoint what makes this remix such a classic. Some would point out its a ‘driving by the breezy beach with the top down’ rhythm. Others would perhaps talk about just who well the xylophone rendition of the original melody melts with the rest of the song.
Whatever the reasons, this clearly isn’t the song of a Dan who is still looking to prove himself. This is the theme song of a fighter whose instructional martial arts videos have somehow sold worldwide and made him a millionaire who frequents night clubs more than his own dojo.

Until next week…GO Party!

I am Alive is a game? It isn't just a temp name for Ubisoft Shanghai? When your last major game was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs...

Pfff, they are making a South Park RPG, because if I want watch kids curse, and violently abuse one another, I'd just hop on to Xbox Live.

Tears, not tears. Wow, that's really difficult to state using English. As they are the same spelling, but pronounced differently.
