I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.

I can genuinely think of no better way to poison ai art models then for everyone to opt in and then do nothing but terrible scrawlings of copyright protected characters or draw dicks on screenshots of copyrighted media, bake it like a jpeg til its crusty as fuck and then upload it en masse essentially we all should draw nothing but shitty mspaint homestuck style art forever until they crack

and another thing. how do reblogs play into this?? If my art is reblogged by someone who hasn't opted out of ai sharing, how does that work?? Do they steal the content from the reblog? Does opting out on the original blog protect all reblogs?

so what's the deal with opt out then? let's say day 1 I haven't opted out because I didn't know opt out was a thing. Day 1 midjourney steals everything from my blog without my consent because I didn't know that opt out was a thing. Day 2 I learn how to do it, and opt out. Midjourney isn't allowed to steal from my anymore. what happens to the stuff they stole on Day 1? Do they delete it? Have they already assimilated it? What exact date did tumblr allow midjourney to start stealing our content?

This is why it needs to be opt-in. I don't consent to AI stealing content from my blog. But I'm sure they already have.

Have we considered what it means that Laois is so good at killing monsters, the one thing he loves, and so bad at fighting humans, the thing he feels most distance from. And inverse Kabru is terrible at killing monsters, the one thing he wants to destroy, but so good at killing humans he would have killed Falin 6 different times when he tried to kill her if her anatomy had been more human, despite his love for and drive to protect humanity? Have we considered what it means to be able to kill that which you love but not that you hate? Has anyone fucking considered the imposter syndrome that has to come from only being good at killing that which you love most??? The fear of not being able to protect yourself from the thing you most think is a threat simply because you cannot find a way to understand it enough to take it's life?
