King Candy and Queen Frostine

When they were first drafting the design for Sugar Rush they brought in all sorts of things for inspiration, sweets, cakes, other games, etc. King Candy was the first to be fleshed out as well as his manservant Sourbill. They had a few cars and some drawings of obstacles drafted and left for the weekend. In that time Queen Frostine, from Candyland, came out of her game and fell head over heels for this dashing royal racer.

They had a wild love affair and when the game designers came back they noticed an adorable little girl in a crown and huge pink gown. They ran with the idea of child racers thinking they would go over great with the target players, and so all the others made were kids.

After the first prototype of the game was finished Queen Frostine left her board game and entered into the game, hiding in the castle so she wouldn't be seen by players, but wanting to stay with her love and their daughter.

Sadly that was the same game that ended up at the arcade and Frostine was the one who realized something was wrong with Candy. He tried to attack their daughter, but Frostine got in the way. He killed her and before she died she told Vanellope to run to the secret place. (I had envisioned that Diet Cola Mountain was created as a defense for the kingdom and a place where the royal family would hide. Frostine had even created the Mentos. Sadly it was still in construction at the time and so the defense wasn't able to be funneled into a weapon.)

The rest of the characters had tried to rebel against Candy after watching him kill the Queen, but he wiped their memories.

Sadly Queen Frostine was not restored when the game was reset because it was not her game, so when she was killed it was game over.
