Tell me why.... TELL . ME . WHY a white supremacist shoots up a supermarket, killing several POC & is detained & escorted out in handcuffs.... but a black man who payed with a counterfeit $20 & had no weapon is detained with excessive force, which ended up killing him? But go off... tell me police brutality isn't real... tell me racism isn't an issue.

pro-life, pro-birth or is it simply pro-control?
Pregnancy is known to cause a variety of complications. These could range from simple discomfort to life-threatening. let's name a few: morning sickness, anemia, UTI’s (which could lead to kidney infections or worse, kidney failure), loss of hair and teeth (the fetus quite literally leaches your body of proper nutrients), diabetes, depression, and more susceptible to illness and disease, pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia. Those are just some of the complications during pregnancy. During birth and after birth complications, however, can often pose a more painful or deadly threat. These issues and threats are c-section (which poses a whole different list of complications), vaginal tearing, infection (could lead to sepsis), severe bleeding, and postpartum depression. Lastly, let's talk about the lasting effects of pregnancy… as I mention earlier, tooth loss is often a side effect of pregnancy, and as we know, enamel does not grow back like hair. Other long-term effects include loss of bladder function, pregnancy mask, back pain (can weaken the bones), and abdominal separation that continues to cause pain even years after giving birth. if this was about life, those who call themselves “pro-life” would be putting the life of the woman above the penitential life of a fetus. If this was about life, Missouri wouldn’t be trying to make abortion illegal even in cases of ectopic pregnancy. if this was about life, making abortion illegal wouldn’t be a discussion, as it is a well-known fact that making abortion illegal does not decrease abortion but rather increases the number of unsafe abortions. Making abortion illegal will increase the death of women by 21%
it also must be brought up that if abortion is made illegal, that makes getting an abortion a felony. Note that having a felony on your record means you can not vote. Also, have ya’ll notice that the decline in birthrates has been a hot topic among conservatives? you would think the decline in birthrates would be good, as that means the younger generation is being more responsible and aware. Not to mention the overpopulation of the world. However, the decline in birthrates means a decline in people being born into poverty and that means less working class to exploit..... which is what our capitalist society is quite literally built on... the exploitation of the "weak"... the exploitation of slaves, natives, the poor, working-class, the prison system... the list goes on.
Again, let's be real, the rich will always have access to abortion, regardless of laws.
So what is this really about?

If it were about babies, the government wouldn't be consistently turning down social programs that would better the quality of life for these newborn babies they are forcing women to have. If this were about babies, they would fix the foster care system.
on the subject of the foster care system btw... To suggesting adoption or simply keeping the baby is extremely problematic. Having these be the only options is putting a child at risk for abuse & trauma with a lifetime full of mental health issues & failure.
The adoption & foster system are not only backed up & overworked, but the amount of abuse children go through in the system is outrageous. 32.8% of children are subject to some level of maltreatment, 10.1% are subject to physical neglect only, 9.4% are subject to both physical neglect & abuse, 5.6% are subject to physical abuse only, 4% are subject to sexual abuse & other maltreatment, & 3.7% are subject to sexual abuse only…. keep in mind that these statistics are most likely much higher as abuse of any kind often goes unreported & children are forced to keep quiet. It must also be talked about how 23,000 children age out of the system every year, 20% will become homeless, and 25% of children in foster care grow up having PTSD, & children that are or have aged out of the system have a substantially lower chance at succeeding in life when it comes to education & work. Now, these statistics don’t even touch the statistics of children that belong to families that never wanted them in the first place. Forcing a mother to keep a child she never wanted is putting that child at just as much of a risk for neglect & abuse as well.
Making abortion illegal was never about life or "morals", but rather about controlling women. a woman can't even make decisions about her reproductive organs without a man's permission. if this was about the preservation of life, the woman's life would come first. Furthermore, let's talk about the fact that the decline in birthrates has been a topic of concern with conservatives... making abortion illegal was & isn't about life or "morals", but rather about making sure our capitalist economy survives. the exploitation of the poor & working-class, because let's be real, the rich will still have access to safe abortion.

So I work at a library and about a month ago I helped a little old woman who is legally blind figure out how to listen to our audiobooks on her tablet. We got to chatting and I mentioned that I always listen to audiobooks while I knit, which made her very excited and she told me all about the afghans she used to make when she could still see. She was so sweet and I was so glad to be able to help her figure out a way to still enjoy books without being able to read.
Yesterday I answered the phone at work and when I said my name the woman on the other line got so excited and said “Madeline?? You’re exactly who I wanted to talk to! This is Marie, you helped me about a month ago. How late are you working today?” It was her!! And about an hour later she and her husband showed up, and she was carrying a huge stack of old knitting patterns for me, and her husband brought in a few boxes full of yarn. They couldn’t stay long but I was so touched that she remembered me, and I struggled to not just flat out start crying when she handed me the patterns. When I looked through them later I realized it was her entire personal collection from over the years, including all her personal notes and drawings and even some photographs of her finished pieces. No one in my family knits, and to have someone pass on their legacy to me like that was incredibly moving.
This isn’t what I usually post here, but with life being especially dark lately I wanted to share a moment of happiness and a reminder that a bit of kindness goes a long way ♡

This excellent visual representation of that old scam, “trickle down economics”, has been all over Twitter recently.
