Week 4 recap
Okay, I tried going all out, but it's time for finals and as much as I would love to, I need to keep going strong and keep myself far away from senioritis.
I'll get super serious and probably hit up the gym during the actual finals week next week.
As UCM is a smaller campus (compared to other universities and colleges), usually the classes (like my SSHA ones) get their finals shoved into the last week of instruction. I usually love finishing early and watching my housemates scramble during their finals (bwhahahaha), but it's super stressful to study (mainly cram) and write essays and do the final assignments for classes at the same time.
To keep track, I have caved and bought 3 McDonald's White Chocolate Coffees (2 were medium and today it was large one; only 3 hours sleep last night so eh...)

Week 3 recap and challenge
Week 3 I definitely fell off the wagon since it was Thanksgiving and all that. I know, that's not an excuse. A better excuse was I get super tired when I go back to the Bay, probably because I drive myself back, but I was just tired from Thursday to Saturday. Also my house there isn't the warmest, so I huddled under my comforter in my bed. Haha.
But now, it's a new month. So I will challenge myself to work out every day of this month. This will be especially hard for this week and next week as I have finals and finish my second to last college semester.
Although I pigged out, I had a wonderful weekend of home cooked food as well as seeing my relatives. And for once I didn't go Black Friday shopping (honestly it's more looking than shopping when I went in the past). I also did not eat out with my friends from home at all either (bit surprising too).
But Day 1 of Decemburn done!

Week 2 Recap
Well....
Long story short, I kind of had too much school work to handle, so I didn't exercise this week at all. A few stretches here and there. Some squats here and there. But I was nauseous earlier this week and I think it was because of the almond butter and protein shake from the meal plan. Like I would just smell the protein powder from out of nowhere and have the urge to throw up. In addition to that, I was lightheaded from Cassey's workout during week 1 and my boyfriend thinks because of doing both the workouts and the meal plan is not good for me. Cause during badminton back in high school, I basically ate what I wanted (but much less fast food because my parents would get mad and I didn't have credit/debit cards to freely use) and worked out and not too much lightheadedness. This time is worse.
So my plan now is to eat healthier with the use of Cassey's meal plan. Do all her workouts and hope everything goes well.
This week I did not gain too much weight, especially how frequently I ate out because of my workload. And I did eat some meals from the plan as I bought the food for week 2, but ended up freezing some of it or eating it as Thanksgiving break is coming up and I need to eat any perishables.
Hopefully as I lighten my load for Thanksgiving break, I can workout more and maybe go running/jogging, maybe just some walking. xD

Week 1 recap 11/16/14
So as a recap. At the end of week 1 (which was yesterday, but eh), I am 150.2 lbs. My stomach feels firmer and I definitely don't see any lower belly bulge. My thighs are definitely firm, but still has some cellulite. Earlier in the week, especially after arms day and the day after that my biceps held more muscle.
As far as meals go, it has been rough. At the beginning, I don't know if I didn't make enough food, but I definitely got super hungry at the end of day. Probably doesn't help that I stay up late because college and etc.
I ended up eating at lot of turkey wraps and ultra clean meatballs because I couldn't stomach the quinoa meal. And as the week progressed I slacked off on eating some of the 2nd meals (like pineapple and edamame). I sort of fell off the bandwagon yesterday night and had basically two YOLO meals for week 1. Though I think that is progress.
I don't know if I feel like measuring myself at the end of each week as my measuring tape is really short and I may be getting inaccurate readings doing it myself.
But I have been weighing myself daily or so and logging it into my "Lose It" app on my phone. I have ranged from roughly 149 lbs to 154ish. I guess not too bad as muscle does weigh more than fat.
Hope it goes well for Week 2. I'll plan for a YOLO meal like on Friday night. Maybe some Thai food or Chipotle or Mexican in general. I really want to go home and have some Indian food though.

Meal 3 and Meal 5
Made the wrap for Meal 3, kind of late in the day though; roughly 4pm.
Tumblr media
Skipped Meal 4 because one of my housemates' had a club fundraiser at Wingstop. So Wingstop is Meal 5 and my YOLO meal for the week. I didn't eat too much, despite the fact my boyfriends got the 30 piece family pack. Had some carrots with ranch, at least there's some veggies with it. xD
Tumblr media
I do feel guilty of having it so early in the challenge. But then again, I think having such meals so far, has shrunk my stomach as I didn't eat too much and I stopped before I had a food coma, which usually happens when I eat out. Maybe Cassey's food baby video is a good thing to have before eating out. (hahahahaha)

Another thing to add to the challenge. No holiday drinks. I went a little too crazy with the McDonald's and Starbucks' White Chocolate Mochas (not an everyday thing, but still probably a good yet bad amount)

Guess What’s In Your Holiday Drinks
It’s cold out and you want a treat. And while that holiday latte seems so tempting and festive — a small treat, in the scheme of things, really — you’d be surprised by just how much sugar is in one of these cups. Take, for example the Dunkin’ Donuts Peppermint Mocha Latte, which has 73 grams of sugar per large cup. The latte isn’t even the most sugary drink we found and yet it has more sugar than eight christmas cookies or two cans of Coke.

Day 2 Exercise and Meal 2
I hate burpees. I'm pretty sure I did a version of them back in high school for badminton training. (Actually they were star jumps). Probably how my thighs were so big. Last time I did burpees, they were Cassey's 100 burpee challenge and I hurt my ankle, so I had to stop a little half way and then I stopped exercising for a while because it hurt sometimes and other times it was fine. (I'm pretty sure my ankles were weakened since I almost hurt them senior year during badminton practice. It was a hard spill on the gym floor, luckily I didn't seriously injure myself.
So instead of burpees, I substituted in Cassey's "Pumped Up Cardio Workout" from yesterday. I like this one, but somehow I lacked the energy to get through the planks in one sitting like yesterday.
Okay for the "Best Ab Workout," god I was only able to do the first move once successfully. The second move I can't do because I kept sliding backwards.
Meal 2. And it's 2:15pm here. Sigh, I take too many breaks between the workouts. I need to try to push myself here. I gave myself 1 cup of fresh pineapple (I'm gonna switch it out with canned though because fresh is too expensive here) to make up for my hatred of edamame. So far, the only meal I really enjoyed was the Ultra Clean Meatballs, sweet potato, and cauliflower. It's gonna be a long 8 weeks.

Day 2 Meal 1
I stuck the ingredients in my blender this time. When Cassey first came out with this recipe, I was excited to try it. Until it mainly tasted like eggs. Yuck, only because I wanted it to taste like a banana muffin or so.
This time, the blender was able to help fluff up the batter a bit more. And the smell was like a banana smoothie! I was tempted to just drink it until I remembered I just tossed raw eggs in it. xD
Anyways, out of that recipe I made enough so that I can save for Thursday morning when I have class (Today's Veteran's Day, so no classes and campus is closed anyways).

Day 1 Meal 5 11/10/14
Yeah no. I don't know what went wrong, but I still dislike edamame and this salad really didn't turn out to be expected. I only ate a little and I probably have been starving since. I'll tough it out since my housemates and I are going to Wingstop tomorrow to support one of their club's fundraisers. It kind of sucks that the YOLO meal has to come so early in the challenge, but hopefully I can get back on track afterwards.

Day 1 Meals 3 and 4 11/10/14
Had Meal 3 at 5:30pm today because I needed to pick up more groceries and roasting the sweet potato took forever. I actually ended eating parts of it undercooked since I was just that hungry.
Meal 4 was about 2 hours later. I really dislike the protein powder I bought. I tried it this time with some almond milk, but it's still overly sweet; like ice cream sweet.
So here's what I prepped and cooked yesterday night:

Frozen Food
My boyfriend's parents brought up a mini fridge as sharing a regular fridge with 5 people (including me) sucks storage-wise. Found out a couple of minutes ago that it froze the majority of my things for the challenge. -_________-

Day 1 Meal 2 11/10/14
I just don't understand apples and peanut butter. I'll eat them separately.
I added an extra two ultra clean meatballs because I'll be in class for an hour and fifty minutes. No way I'll last that long. And I can't snack in the class (as there's only like 17 of us and the professor has a ban on eating in the classroom ) ._______.
Not to mention, I register for my last classes ever in like 30 minutes and then I rush off to class.

Before Picture 11/10/14
Tumblr media
Excuse the quality of the photo. Had to borrow my housemate's mirror as I don't own one myself. As I started to gain weight after high school, seeing myself in photos never really affected me until recently. I could tell that that body type didn't quite fit the rest of me, like my small head. Thus the determination to lose some weight as I didn't want to look like that when I take my graduation pictures in the spring.
But here is my before picture!

Week 1 Day 1 Breakfast
11/10/14 9:30 am
Bananas don't go with oatmeal. Especially ones that are just a little underripe. Next time, eat the banana while cooking the oatmeal.
Plain oatmeal cooked in water isn't too bad, but I only did 1/2 cup because I didn't think I would be able to handle so much oatmeal. I should of did milk, but last time I attempted to cook oatmeal with milk, I burnt the pan. I don't know what kind of flavorings to add to it as my dad usually does his thing with water, then adds a little milk, brown sugar, an egg, and tada! I don't think I could get that right. Maybe I'll try it. Caved in and finally added some cinnamon and some vanilla extract to the oatmeal.
Raisins. I had a love/hate relationship with them. I used to smuggle the raisins packs out of the cafeteria back in elementary school, and then give it to my little brother. (He would love me for those few minutes xD) Attempted to shove some raisins in with the oatmeal, meh. I'll probably eat some alone like I did with the banana.
Oh god, I used to eat just hard boiled egg whites and toss the yolk when I was younger. I think I need to cut these portions in half as I only at 1 1/2 egg whites. I gave my boyfriend the egg yolks just so I don't feel so wasteful.
I feel like this is a lot for breakfast.
In the end, I ate half of my oatmeal, half a banana, two raisins (maybe I'll eat some more later), and 1 1/2 egg whites.
Overall, this is a challenge. Just even eating the food. I think breakfast and some of the snacks will be the hardest to eat (I'm dreading the edamame).

Grocery Shopping
Found almost everything today. Kind of upset that it cost so much. But my boyfriend says might as well go all out since I committed and paid money for Cassey's plan. But roughly $100 today and yesterday was $70. Who knew that protein powder cost so much.
Still need to work out for today, but it's getting late and I still have homework to do. Not to mention I'm stressing out on registering for my classes tomorrow as the ones I really want are not listed anymore. For once, it's not because I might not get the class (though the chances of that happening may still be happening). ._______.

Pressure/Stress 11/9/14
As the beginning gets closer, I think I may be overwhelming myself by committing to something like this. It is crunch time (especially as a college senior) and I want to make it relaxing as comfortable so I can focus on passing my classes, studying and taking my CSETs, and getting ready to apply to FPU for their teacher credential program.
I think what is even more stress is trying to find all the food, and make sure I buy it all in one go. Here in Merced, there's not much a variety in grocery stores compared to back in the Bay Area. E.g. No Whole Foods/Trader Joes (although those are expensive for a college student). And hopefully my parents won't question why my food spending has gone up so much when they look at my accounts @.@
Oh and I should of done more research on Whey Powder. The one I found at Raleys was really small (especially once I opened it, it was like a bag of chips to air ratio bad), the taste was kinda of sweet and reminded me more of some coconut aftertaste rather than vanilla. Maybe I should drown it out in something else, but 8oz isn't too bad to down? (maybe even do it in shot form? haha)
For any future challenges, I think it would have been better for Cassey to list the amount of food in the grocery list, at least I'll be able to have no excuses for not getting certain foods or just eating something else in the house cause I'll be too tired/lazy to drive down to the store to make a meal.
