so they probably have to bounce out of that bar pretty quickly right? the band is ready to play, byron's friends are probably calling the cops, the bartender wants them out - so mickey helps a lovesick ian hobble out of there and they're breathless and laughing and stopping every few steps to make out and ian keeps grabbing mickey's hand and -

mickey realizes there's something missing. he wants to look down at ian's giant freckled hand and see a ring sparkling back up at him SO he gets down on one knee in the middle of the sidewalk (or on the L or outside of the house) and is like 🤨 ian gallagher will you do me the honor of handing me the rings that i know are in your pocket so i can make this shit official??? and ian melts on the spot 🥰

but now that i think about it, i don't think they're wearing rings in that scene with lip so..... maybe it's like this?

mickey drags ian upstairs after lip's big news. ian's bummed out and feeling sad which is NOT how he should be feeling tonight, in mickey's expert opinion. they deserve to celebrate. SO.

they get comfy in bed and mickey leans over to run a finger up and down ian's arm.

"you didn't get to give your speech."

"my - what?"

"your gay ass proposal speech. you didn't give it."

"you didn't let me!"

"you think i wanted all those hipster assholes hearin' that? no. that's mine. and now i am waitin' patiently."

and so ian gives a long rambling speech about how much he loves mickey and how he promises to do everything in his power to make him happy... to keep him safe... to keep them together and steady and solid. there are probably some jokes in there, definitely some innuendos.

mickey rolls his eyes and they both cry a little, then ian pulls the rings out from where they still sit under his shirt. mickey snorts - of course they're still there. and they put the rings on each other and laugh their dazed little laughs.

and then they celebrate 😇

ian and mickey are really going to be that annoying couple who can’t remember the last time they spent the night apart, huh? not that there’s any need to, now that mickey can sleep just fine in the west side apartment that’s starting to feel like home (and has curtains) and there’s not any shady stuff going on with the milkoviches under the cloak of night.

mickey doesn’t really like to get himself involved in the deciding process. he’s fine with whatever. they can have a quiet night in? cool. they suddenly gotta take all their crap and head for the border like their asses are on fire? tough shit, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right? so, if ian’s going somewhere, mickey’s going, too. yeah, he’ll grumble and say that he’d love nothing more than to have the apartment all to himself, but actually having to spend the night without hearing ian talk from his sleep and leave a wet stain of drool on mickey’s pillow when he snuggles too close to him? no, thanks. 

ian loves plans and loves to know exactly what they’re doing that day. emphasis on they, because in ian’s head, they’re a unit. lip asks him if he could come to the house to help him with the renovations and maybe stay the night? no problem, ian’s already texting mickey that they’re going to spend the night at the gallagher house. what? they can still talk, mickey doesn’t want any part in their brotherly shoulder-rubbing, anyway. but to willingly go one night without embracing his husband tight before they go to sleep? without leaning close to smell the little spot behind his ear where the mixture of sweat and body wash and cigarettes always lingers? that’s funny, lip.
