also xavi this is dumb on xavi's part because all he's signing off on is to be a scapegoat for the board one more season

I've missed something, been busy lately. So Xavi is leaving Barca and there's no one to replace him for now?...
no, he and laporta just announced that he's actually staying for next season (he had quit a few months ago but he just took it back)

i think a big reason why people are happy xavi is staying, or at least for me personally, is that there were no clear replacements for him. when he initially announced he was leaving, there were reports about de zerbi, hansi flick, thiago motta, and nagelsmann being potential candidates. but as time passed reports over who would take over after xavi thinned out, and then recently there were all the reports saying rafa marquez was the favourite to manage barcelona once xavi left. for all intents and purposes, it looked like the choice of manager was either xavi staying or rafa marquez. xavi definitely is far from perfect, but i’d rather he stay one more year and barcelona get a better and more experienced manager after he leaves then see rafa marquez, who’s even more inexperienced than xavi is, manage barça.
yeah I get that but I just think this is the exact trap the board wants you to fall in so that they can say "well we didn't have a choice" and shield themselves against any criticism! It's a false dichotomy. Sure, you can't get pep and maybe it is true that you can't get de zerbi (I'm not sure but I think with an actual good sporting project he would be open to coming) but these aren't the only coaches out there!
I also really don't want rafa márquez as the coach of the first team (anyone who knows me knows that I've grown to respect what he's doing with the b team but still don't think he's even the right man for the b team) BUT it's not because he's inexperienced (so was pep in 2008!) but because I don't think his playing style is one I enjoy/want for the team. And neither is Xavi's, which we know, we've seen time and time again this season! What is going to change next season that would be a reason for us to "waste" another year?
